Does anyone out there know of anyone who would like to sell their shim kit?? If not, do you know a good place to order one with the special tool in the kit. I plan on sharing my kit with our members. I am also looking at setting up a maintenance day at my residence in the near future. We can all learn from each other and make new friends. DanC

hi all monday i drove the trike up to troup, texas, to have them look it over. wow what a nice place. one of their tech named david meet me and wanted to know how they could help. i explaned that i had just bought this '99 rsv trike with their kit installed. and could they go over the trike and tell me anything about it. he took it into the shop and put it on a lift. came out a little later and said the axel ring & pinon seal was leaking. also said that they did not instrall the kit on the rsv there, that one of their dealers did it. also told me that it was an early kit as 1998 or 1999. that it did not have the air bags installed. as they started doing this in 2000. also stated that they stamp a serial # on each rear end reguard less of which kit it goes to. that my # was a low one. well after a couple of hours david came out and told me he was done. he had fixed the rear end seal, adjusted the suspension / frame. fixed a tail light, some side molding. all this at work and time at NO CHARGE. yep that's right NO CHARGE, wow was i surprised. as we were shaken hands he told me we get you next time. if your ever in the area go by their plant for a tour of the place and say hi. reguards don c.

My wife bought me a couple of Sidewinderz LED light strips for Christmas for mounting under the tank to light up the engine, but there is no controller or switch of any kind - just the light strips with about 16" of wire on the end of each one. Does anyone have a recommendation as to a simple light switch kit I should get for these? Electrical is not my strong suit, so I'm fumbling with this a little. I did find this controller on the CruiserCustomizing.com web site, but still not sure it's what I need. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=49&manufacturer_ID=563&product_ID=32058&sblid_name=Street_FX_Electropods_L_E_D_Light_Kit_Power_Distribution_Module&model_id=0

Just wondering if anyone has put a big bore kit in their venture. I have a 2003. Is there a kit for the Ventures? If you have put one in, what has the pre and post install experience been in comparison? Thoughts on should it or shouldn't it be done. Thanks.

On my RSTD, I lowered the front and rear about 3/4". At my height, that makes it safer for two-up at stop. On the rear I have the Barons kit but got new links made half way between stock and their 1/1/2" size. I want to do the same on my 2009 Venture. But if I am only going about 3/4", I'm wondering if I need to go to the trouble of installing a rear calliper relocation kit (IE: Barons). So, does anyone know how far you can drop the rear before you need to move the calliper???? Thanks, Mike G in SC

Hi all I HAVE ADDED SOME PHOTOS It has been one year and 2 days since I injured my back at work and now I am facing surgery and the end of my riding carreer. I wanted to give the members here an opportunity to let friends or someone they know who is interested in these bikes to get a great deal. The bike is 2005 royal star tour deluxe with 19200 miles. It has a Voyager Trike kit that I just installed in August hoping that would make it able for me to ride but the pain won out again. I am not sure how to download pictures or what is policy of forum about selling bikes but wanted to let members know about it before I put it on EBAY. Bike has pipes, Mustang seat with drivers rest, new highway pegs, kuryakin grips. rador detedtor holder, fast lane pass holder, second tall windshield (one on bike is 4" lower than stock), kuryakyn travel bag. I will include 20-50 amsoil and new filter. I also have carbon one stand for bike if the trike kit is taken off. I am pricing the bike and basically throwing in the trike kit for free so that it could be sold if taken off the bike. I am asking $7000 firm for the bilke and all accessories and will store for winter with $5500 deposit for pickup in spring. Will miss riding and the forum Thanks Dan:95::95::95:

So from reading other clutch threads it seems you can just double up the clutch spring and get a better feel. I've been thinking about the PWC clutch kit, but concerned that several people have complained about the change in friction point on the clutch lever. Does doubling up the stock spring do that also? And if not, does anyone that upgraded to the PWC have a stock spring they want to get ride of. Also instead of the PWC kit, can one just get the PWC heavier spring, I read someone here didn't like the feel of the kit and just used the spring, but I can't see paying for the whole kit if I just need the spring.

My rear shock blew out on me as I was riding a couple of months ago. It sounded like I had run over an empty water bottle with the top on it. Now I am hoping there is a kit or a way to rebuild it. I'm guessing a new one from "Mama YAMA" will be pretty pricey! Any ideas? (stupid question with this group?):

So, I went to the local dealer and they had a couple of intercom sets. I checked and they are about $350 elsewhere and about another $100 for an extra headset. I picked up both complete sets and was just going to take a headset out of one to complete the set (passenger and rider) and install it on my bike. Well it is not going to work for me cuz my wife only wears a half helmet. I got them at 200 a piece, so that is what I will sell them for to anyone that might want it from here. I will be posting it on EBay next week if not. Let me know. They are both new in the box. Search autocom kit 300 on Google and you can see the specs. Thanks Adam

ok got to test a goldwing trike. did not seem to like it.. its a conversion setup. voyager something??? well the dealer said it takes getting use to. you got that right. i started out made a left turn and the damn bike plowed?? reminds me of the old snowmobiles turn but keep going straight? well i made it out on the main rode it was fun. kept wanting to put my feet down at stop signs though. my height and stuff the bike fit kind of nice.. plenty of power. smooth shiffting. and price not bad. i was just out looking. cant afford it.. just pulled in with the old venture to rest and look around. got an offer of $1200 on the venture for a trade. but the wing was a little over 11k.. 2007 with 44k on it i thought that was high? but dont know what the kit cost to make it a trike.. dealer was sure trying to push it on anyone who seemed interested.. then i asked him how much for my bike outright? he said they dont buy that old of a bike.. WTF he wanted it if i traded it though? someday i will maybe go for a trike. but i think i will look here first... or get a good kit for a first gen.. well thats my day for today...

The trailer has about 20 miles on it. Other than that it's unused. It's in California, and I'm open to reasonable offers. Comes with spare tire and extra bearing kit.

I want to get a first aid kit together sometime soon to keep packed somewhere in my 1st Gen. Who keeps one on their bike? what do you have in it? have you ever used it? I see a lot of alternatives on the web - a lot of kits already put together - don't know if that's more cost effective or not. I have no idea of what I would need in a kit - kind of mind boggling to see what's out there and what they include. Thanks, Doug

Before I pull the clutch cover off my bike to redo the clutch plates, I've misplaced the instruction sheets for the Barnett spring kit that the shop installed for me after the last clutch burn out.. I haven't seen one of these before on a bike, so not sure what to expect and of course would like to avoid as much down time as possible.. Is it another big plate held down by 6 bolts with an 8 lbs torque? Or is there a little more to it than that? Thanks in advance.. hoping to get this done today whilst it's raining..

I'm looking for a compact but comprehensive first aid kit for the Venture. I have one that's just to large 12"X 10"X 3". When my wife and I travel together that kit take up to much room. So what does everyone else have?

Does anyone use a Voyager kt on their 1st Gen?

I'm new to the forum here but I've been doing some reading on lowering the RSV and I think the route I want to take is to lower the back with the Baron's kit 1" and do the front forks the 1-1/2" with the Barons kit as well. I just wanted to ask if anyone has any feedback on the front kit? I see it has progressive springs, which I loved on my Shadow. The kit is HERE. It doesn't say RSV, but isn't the RS Tour Deluxe the same basic chassis?

My local Yamaha dealer called Yamaha for me and got the part number for the I basket, as no one at the three previous dealers could find on the sku. 4xy-16150-09-00 and its a little over 400 smackers. While I was there i was told about a Big Air kit which includes K$N air filters and new jets. Anyone out there know of these? Thanks ron:mustache:

Does anyone know where I can buy a complete rebuilt kit worth the money? Do they even make a complete rebuilt kit? By complete I mean one that has everything for the internal instead of having to buy jets and other things seperate. Or does anyone have a set of carbs that are ready to go on for sale? excuse my ignorance on this carb stuff but I gotta learn eventually to do things myself because the shops are just getting higher in price.
