  1. My buddy has a 99 venture and he just loves gooosing the throttle. so much that it started slipping on him. I said I would do the work but i cant seem to find the clucth kit. the stealer wants$350 for the kit. Does anyone know where I can buy a clutch kit without giving my buddy a heart attack. Any suggestions as well. i think his clucth has to be bled because my 96 feel firmer than his so that may be part of the problem.
  2. Following is a "very condensed" version of my experience with Earl (skydoc_17) and his 2nd gen clutch upgrade kit. After installing the kit, I was not happy with a specific aspect of the results. Sorry, I hesitate to go into details at this time other than to say the kit does work. In any event, Earl has provided me with an acceptable workaround that should solve my specific issue. By this I just wanted everyone to know how very helpful Earl has been, and willing to ensure my full satisfaction, even though I really wasn't asking anything specific from him. I explained the issue, told him what I did to correct it and he went the extra mile (actually more) and offered a better solution. Thank you so much Earl, there are so many who could learn what the meaning of Customer Service is from you. Also I want to thank Squeeze for his input and expertise in this matter. What an amazing group of people we have here. :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:
  3. I have installed a Tow Pak trike kit on my "99" RSV and have momentary steering "shakes", usually when not missing a bump in the road, and am wondering if one of those rake kits would help reduce this. I have read that Harrigan makes a kit for their conversions but don't know if they would work with a Tow Pak. Does anyone know of any other suppliers of rake kits if the Harrigan kit doesn't work? Does any one have any good or bad experiences with rake kits?
  4. Thinking about installing a Voyager Kit on a '91 Venture Royale. I can ride the bike just fine, but since I tip the scales at 150# soaking wet after a good meal, I have some trouble when the GF (who just happens to out weigh me a tad....) is aboard. My riding buddy has a Voyager Kit on his RS TD because he has bad legs, and he loves it. I've done some work on his bike, so I have a good idea of what's there, but I'd like to install the kit myself, so I would really like to know about any "gotchas" there might be. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Y'All ride safe...
  5. OK I see all the threads and posts about upgrading the spring on the RSV clutch but can't find anything on where to purchase the upgraded spring kit. I am getting a tiny bit of slippage when I really roll the throttle back in 2bd gear and thought if I changed the spring to the upgraded one it would stop this. What do you all think anf if you think mit will solve the problem which kit and where do I get it. Thanks Rick
  6. my roadking pipes set 3 inches off the ground at rear of bike. my friend who just bought a 2005 like mine sets 6 inches off groung at same point. under the bikes look the same. how do you know if you have a lowering kit installed? bottom of my pipes are flatten , know why now. the guy i bought it from put every oem chrome part made on it and said he wanted it to look like a HD. so he bought one findly and i got the venture ,decked out and looking good. did he put a lowering kit on also. ? help someone and tell me what to look for. thanks
  7. Has anyone been able to put some kind of adapter on the front forks so that both sides can be filled from one point? I found a link here some time ago but the adapter kit was no longer available so I've decided to try and do something myslef but thought I'd come to the experts first. Thanks KB
  8. Well after a lot of tough decision making, my beautiful '07 RSV is now somone else's ride. The GL 1800 is a lot more comfortable (for me) with it's lower center of gravity. I feel much more confident on it, 'specially when riding two up. Seat height is a little shorter also, and I can put my feet flat on the ground. Here is my problem. I installed a Kuryakyn heel-toe shifter and it included a shiny chrome plated left foot peg mount (bracket). The bike still has a dull grey OEM mount on the right side. I tried to buy just the right side mount, but the customer rep at Kury said no way, only way to get one is to buy their kit that has both left and right mounts, and use just the one. I tried to convince them that they should either put one in the heel-toe shifter kit or at least have one available to purchase seperately, but the answer was "it is what it is". Any suggestions? Yeh,I know, pull it off and get it plated. Other than that?-?-?-?
  9. Anyone have a stock set of leveling links they would like to part with.I need to remove the lowering kit on my bike so I can install the Voyager trike kit I just bought.
  10. Well, so much for getting the 08 triked.... Ordered it in January, paid deposit and shipped side case(colormatch) to Hannigan in February, took bike to dealer in Florida 3 March, kitwas SUPPOSED to ship from Kentucky 8 March, called dealer to check on progress yesterday (3/16), and he told me the factory in KY had burned down along with my kit and sidecase. Could be months before the factory is up and running and can punch out another RSV kit. To add to the misfortune, I had stripped some of the addons from the rear of the bike that wouldn't be used on the trike and I had to trailer it to the dealer because it had recently picked up a screw in the rear tire. Sooo, 'To Trike or Not to Trike, That is the Question'. Okay, not quite Shakespeare.. Either way, The situation inhales with a vacum like force..
  11. I've been looking for a low priced used trike kit to install on the bike so we can see if this is the way to go for me and the princess. We found one in the classified here on theVR sit, So we took a road trip 300 miles out to MA. to pick up my new to me voyager trike kit.One day round trip, total of 600 miles, plus tolls.Very happy with the kit so far...Today I'm checking craigs list, just to see if thier's anything I can't do with out, when I come across a voyager trike kit not 8 mile away from me for the same price!!!AAAARRRGGG.:bang head: anyway, if anyone is looking for a trike kit with attachments for a 86 goldwing there is one for sale in Ovid NY.for $1500.00,obo.Will also fit most any bike with the right attaching kit.
  12. While down at the International Motorcycle Show with y'all .... DaMoose (Joe) bought an HID kit for his headlight. We went back to his place only a few min away from the center and I installed it WOW BRIGHT. He really liked it and I did also. The only thing is now the passing lights look YELLOW/AMBER. I like the contrast but they totally do not add anything to the lighting now. We went back to the show and I also bought an HID kit but I got the Bi-HID which has both hi-low HID, his only had low HID regular HIGH. There is much more wiring involved with the Bi kit I will say though. I really like the extra bright white light. Now the question..is there a sealed beam lamp that can replace the OEM to make them look WHITE. Either change them to HID or LED or even maybe change the housing so that it is a BULB type so I can put super white bulbs in them. Thanks for the helps y'all. Oh n I HIGHLY recommend the HID for visibility at night and day.
  13. I recently purchased a lowring kit from Baron. I'm fairly short, 5'6", and after riding the bike felt I needed a little better stability. My favorite dealer says I should also lower the front end to equalize the handling. We've tried to find some new springs, but were not successful. He is suggesting we cut the existing springs and that will do the trick. I'm not so sure that's a great idea. How will that effect the steering and ride? Anybody have any experience with this option??
  14. anyone out there ever buy the emgo brake kit listed on ebay?? need new brakes and want to but the kit for all 3 calipers and not spend a fortune. thanx brake kit is around $$60.00
  15. Does anyone out there know of anyone who would like to sell their shim kit?? If not, do you know a good place to order one with the special tool in the kit. I plan on sharing my kit with our members. I am also looking at setting up a maintenance day at my residence in the near future. We can all learn from each other and make new friends. DanC
  16. This is a pic of the floor of my '07 RSV travel trunk. Are these the metal plates in question? Is it safe for me to assume (yeh, I know) that mine either was shipped with the kit already installed or that the PO installed a kit? These plates are (obviously) black, another pic looked like the plates had some kind of bright finish. If this is the right thing and it's the way it should be, it might help others understand how it looks after the repair kit is installed.
  17. I know this topic comes up a lot but its hard to find much on specifically lowering the RSTD because the majority of the expertise here is with the Venture, so the threads seem to quickly go that route and especially since the Venture can be lowered for free.. Actually this does also apply to the Venture - just wanting advice on lowering the bike using a lowering kit rather than the free Venture mod. I have done a lot of research on this as to better understand the options and caveats especially since I know nothing much about front suspension. So while doing this research… I compiled this summary DOCUMENT of what I gathered from all of you experts… Please let me know if you see any gaps or mistakes and hope it helps someone in the future.. But I do have some questions still.. It appears Barons has two options for lowering the front.. 1) A lowering kit (only two 1.5 in spacers) $25 2) A Performance lowering kit (the above plus Gold Valve Cartridge Emulators and progressive springs) $290 Questions: 1) Given the price difference… is the Performance kit really worth that much more money? 2) Knowing nothing about front forks… how does adding two spacers.. lower the bike? 3) I would probably have the dealer do this as I am not equipped for this.. espec the performance kit if I went that route.. but would the basic spacer kit be MUCH easier or not really? BTW, 2007 RSTD I have had the Butler mod on my stock seat, and it does help. I have 29”-30” inseam, so while its not imperative, I would just like to get a little lower for backing up and stability when two up at a standstill. So debating on if this is worth it or not.. Thanks for any advice, Globewalker
  18. Where's a good place to purchase a valve shim kit for a 2nd gen? Prices? extra shims? Thinking about doing mine in the next few months.
  19. I am thinking I would like to put a bit of pin striping on my 2004 Midnight Venture and was wondering if anyone has done this themselves and if they have used a kit and where to purchase them. Thank you for any help or advice. Chris in Red Deer
  20. hi all monday i drove the trike up to troup, texas, to have them look it over. wow what a nice place. one of their tech named david meet me and wanted to know how they could help. i explaned that i had just bought this '99 rsv trike with their kit installed. and could they go over the trike and tell me anything about it. he took it into the shop and put it on a lift. came out a little later and said the axel ring & pinon seal was leaking. also said that they did not instrall the kit on the rsv there, that one of their dealers did it. also told me that it was an early kit as 1998 or 1999. that it did not have the air bags installed. as they started doing this in 2000. also stated that they stamp a serial # on each rear end reguard less of which kit it goes to. that my # was a low one. well after a couple of hours david came out and told me he was done. he had fixed the rear end seal, adjusted the suspension / frame. fixed a tail light, some side molding. all this at work and time at NO CHARGE. yep that's right NO CHARGE, wow was i surprised. as we were shaken hands he told me we get you next time. if your ever in the area go by their plant for a tour of the place and say hi. reguards don c.
  21. My wife bought me a couple of Sidewinderz LED light strips for Christmas for mounting under the tank to light up the engine, but there is no controller or switch of any kind - just the light strips with about 16" of wire on the end of each one. Does anyone have a recommendation as to a simple light switch kit I should get for these? Electrical is not my strong suit, so I'm fumbling with this a little. I did find this controller on the CruiserCustomizing.com web site, but still not sure it's what I need. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=49&manufacturer_ID=563&product_ID=32058&sblid_name=Street_FX_Electropods_L_E_D_Light_Kit_Power_Distribution_Module&model_id=0
  22. Just wondering if anyone has put a big bore kit in their venture. I have a 2003. Is there a kit for the Ventures? If you have put one in, what has the pre and post install experience been in comparison? Thoughts on should it or shouldn't it be done. Thanks.
  23. On my RSTD, I lowered the front and rear about 3/4". At my height, that makes it safer for two-up at stop. On the rear I have the Barons kit but got new links made half way between stock and their 1/1/2" size. I want to do the same on my 2009 Venture. But if I am only going about 3/4", I'm wondering if I need to go to the trouble of installing a rear calliper relocation kit (IE: Barons). So, does anyone know how far you can drop the rear before you need to move the calliper???? Thanks, Mike G in SC
  24. Anyone here have this kit or demo'd one?Would like to know what you thing of them?
  25. Hi all I HAVE ADDED SOME PHOTOS It has been one year and 2 days since I injured my back at work and now I am facing surgery and the end of my riding carreer. I wanted to give the members here an opportunity to let friends or someone they know who is interested in these bikes to get a great deal. The bike is 2005 royal star tour deluxe with 19200 miles. It has a Voyager Trike kit that I just installed in August hoping that would make it able for me to ride but the pain won out again. I am not sure how to download pictures or what is policy of forum about selling bikes but wanted to let members know about it before I put it on EBAY. Bike has pipes, Mustang seat with drivers rest, new highway pegs, kuryakin grips. rador detedtor holder, fast lane pass holder, second tall windshield (one on bike is 4" lower than stock), kuryakyn travel bag. I will include 20-50 amsoil and new filter. I also have carbon one stand for bike if the trike kit is taken off. I am pricing the bike and basically throwing in the trike kit for free so that it could be sold if taken off the bike. I am asking $7000 firm for the bilke and all accessories and will store for winter with $5500 deposit for pickup in spring. Will miss riding and the forum Thanks Dan:95::95::95:
