5. Ok well need little assistance guys. So my 99' has 69,000 on it and just last week i parked in the garage for few days because i had to drive to work. after about day 3 i noticed a small river running from underbike to garage door. so i checked it out and it looked like it was coming from the rear shock. I have heard this before that they go bad just all of a sudden. so i cleaned up the mess and check the air pressure in it. 0 it had so i filled it up to 40lbs and rode to work. when i went to leave work it still was hold at 40lbs. here we are on thursday and still 40lbs in it. should i be looking for a different leak back there or is it possible that it can hold air and still leak oil. HELP! i dont want to replace the shock if i dont need to.
6. When I stop gently the front brakes or fork make these noises especially when starting out. The service manager says it's normal(surprise). Is it? Also will the front fork hold air for more than a day? Thanks!

15. Here are a couple of pictures to hold me over until she is delivered to my garage tomorrow. the seat is not on and the lighting does not do the paint any justice (lighting) but I assure you that the paint match is dead nuts! These should hold me over for another 24 hours Jeff
16. I just purchased a Piggy Backer XL and decided to have the tires balanced. Guy looked at me funny because I guess nobody balances trailer tires! It may have been a waste of money but at least now I know. All 3 were off...2oz...1-3/4oz....3/4oz. Lug Nuts are to be torqued to 100 ft-lbs Before I put the trailer together I had 4 straps made up with a "D" ring on the end and attached them with the hold down bolts. May never need them but if I want to use a cargo net or tie something down so it don't shift they are there. Now only another month or so and I can ride!!!!! (because of the snow that is!) Keith
17. I just wanted to say that I did the cassette removal mod yesterday and it's great! I made a nice little lined pocket to hold my ipod and whatever else. Thanks to the others who did this before me and posted the info online.

19. This is just a heads up for anyone needing to renew or add any endorsements their driver’s license. The wife went into the GA DDS (DMV) to take her motorcycle permit test. She passed with flying colors. Great, right! Well, when they went to add the endorsement to her license, something popped up on the computer. NY had placed a hold on her license! They not only said they couldn’t add the endorsement but that her GA license would be suspended until she got the hold removed by NY State! Here’s the kicker, we haven’t lived in NY since 1981 and she never had a driver’s license there, only a permit and never had any tickets or violations! After wading through the bureaucracy we found out the hold was for an “unsatisfied judgment” from an accident in 1978. Apparently we were sued for an accident we were in and never received the summons to court since we moved several times during those years. It’s been a month since this happened and we’re still trying to get this straightened out from 1,000 miles away. Meanwhile the wife is stranded with no license out in the middle of nowhere (we live in the country). I guess I don’t have to tell you how that is going over! In light of her problems, I decided to check with NY and see what they had on me. Lo and behold the have a hold placed on me also for the same issue as my wife. They also have me down for “failure to answer a summons" for a speeding ticket in Livingston Co. NY in 1981. When I checked with them, they had to dig through some old boxes and found the ticket 68 mph in a 55 mph zone. The hell of it is is that I went to court as scheduled and paid the ticket so someone either didn’t do their job or the pocketed the money! I can either plead innocent and travel 1,000 miles for trial or fax in a guilty plea and pay the fine. Guess which one I chose! Who knows how long this will take to get straightened out. The only good thing is that my wife doesn’t work so we aren’t suffering financially from this. We both renewed our DL’s two years ago so I know this data sharing between NY and GA is something new. My assumption is that it is probably something to do with Homeland Security and the push for a national driver’s license and ID. My advice is that if anyone may have similar issues, to check it out before time to renew your license so you have time to straighten it out before your suspended and possibly lose your livelihood. Also, check it out with the state you USED TO live in like I did. If you check it with your current issuing state and they find something you’ll be in the same boat as my wife. Sorry about the book but this can’t be explained in one paragraph.-Jack
20. I got the leather tank bra for Christmas and saw that the clip for the intercom will be in the way. Is it just double faced tape holding it on? I want to use the pouch on the bra to hold my I-pod.If it is tape any one know what is the best tape to replace it out of the way?
21. Is there a loosley held schedule for getting together for chatting? If not what times seem to hold more interest Thanks, Jim
22. Was wondering if anyone had a good way to attach their iPOD to your bike. It seems I have seen some attached to the handlebars but I have not been able to find anything to hold it on so I could see it. Now I have a pouch on the windshield but I am wanting something to hold it on the bars so I can see it. Any ideas?
23. I've got 20K on the ole 06 RSV now and had never pulled the shaft out. Well, while I had the rear tire off for a change, I decided to pull the shaft to lube the splines. Glad I did, there was no lube on them that I could see, looked completely dry from the factory, but that's another rant altogether. Once started, it took only 15 minutes to pull and lube the shaft...and 2 1/2 hours to reinstall! My question is: What rocket scientist came up with that u-joint configuration? OK, now I'm done venting and I understand why they wanted 3 hours labor to do the job at the dealer. I just had to walk away a couple of times or I was going to throw the shaft across the garage... I got it all back together and all is well, but did I miss something? Other than that little access hole, a coat hanger, and 3 six foot long arms (one to hold the light, one to hold the hanger-turned u-joint hook and one to hold a light), is there a better way to line up the u-joint and shaft?
24. If I buy this bike is someone near that can hold until I can get it I will pay for the service. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-XVS12-1983-Yamaha-Venture-needs-work_W0QQitemZ130268423913QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item130268423913&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
25. Being an avid deer hunter i was thinking about useing a soft tanned deer hide and was wondering if this would work as well as using a sheepskin. I have a friend who will tan the hide for me for free ( Trade out for some meat) just not sure how this would hold up.. No that holding up is a problem per say, I can always have another made.. I guess the main question is will it work as well as the sheepskn. I just think it would give a col look to the bike. david
