  1. Has anyone used the Mirror Frame mount for their Garmin? It looks as if this mount would have the mirror threaded through it and like it would work well on the RSV. Also, if you are using it what length arm did you go with? The item description is: Motorcycle / Bike MIRROR FRAME Mount for GARMIN NUVI 200W 205W 250W 255W 260W 265WT 465T GPS
  2. I picked up a 1985 GS 450 for a really good price. Only problem is, most of the bike came in one of two boxes. The engine wasn't even in the frame. I have the engine back in, and the suspension back on, but I am having a hard time routing the wires properly through the frame. I have a wiring diagram, but not a routing diagram. If anyone out there has one of these bikes, I would really appreciate if you emailed me. I would like to get some digital photographs of the wire routing, so you would have to be ok with removing the seat and gas tank. If not, no biggie, it just will take longer to get it right. At this rate, I figure I will be done in time for snow to start sticking to the ground...
  3. Does anyone have a head light frame they don't need? I want to install a Tribar lens on the Venture headlight frame, but don't want to destroy my stocker. It doesn't matter if the lens is cracked or broken, I'm going to break it out anyway. Thanks, Ponch
  4. Can anyone tell me if the frame from a 86 to 92 would be the same as the 83 to 85. My frame broke!
  5. Is the piece of frame that the Vin# is attached to (lower right hand side that needs to be removed to slide the motor out) on the 1st gens interchangable???? ie can I take a lower motor frame with Vin# attached from an 84VR & exchange it onto a 90VR ??? :canada:
  6. randy thank's for the licence frame you made for us , it came in the mail today and it looks great. for anyone that bought one you will be glad you did. I had to install it on the bike right after it got here and when i went to the bike shop today i had four people ask where i bought it at. So once again thank you randy for doing this for us. Ed.
  7. E Bay, that is! C'mon guys, I've had this '84 Royale lying around my garage in pieces for...holy crap!...five years now! I need to get rid of this stuff! Everything listed in My Ads is still here. I would so much rather have one of you get this stuff than to pawn it on eBay...people I don't know.....but it's coming down to that or the junk man. Most of the body work is either gone or trashed. I pitched the windshield in the trash can last night because even though it's whole, it has scratches and the film is peeling off. The rest of this thing will follow suit quickly. I want it gone by Christmas. Here's the big stuff of value; Frame Forks and triple trees with anti-dive valves front and rear wheels (bare) complete rear brake system engine parts-cases, crank balancer, pistons, rods, tranny, oil pump, clutch, heads/cams, etc. fuel tank w/pump plus lots more! Make me an offer.....let's get 'r done!
  8. Hey yall, I'm looking for a left side passenger foot rest bracket. Don't need the peg or floorboard, just the bracket that mounts to the frame. Thanks.
  9. Hey guys and gals....i installed a "stebel airhorn" this weekend...heres a pic,can anyone tell me a better place to mount it. It looks kind of awkward protruding from the frame.

Trailer! here she is its a very small start but I have a couple of the parts now in a week or two ill have the rest of my order then ill be able to figure out what i need for metal to get the frame and swing arm made
  11. latest update on my trailer and a few questions. got my harbor freight trailer with 12" wheels. narrowed the frame to 18 1/2", and shortened it 3 1/2". i welded the frame together instead of bolting. the frame is at the sandblaster. i bought a neat plastic locking box at lowes and my cooler will go on the front. going to take one leaf out of the springs, and mount the axle on top of the springs to lower it. it should work out great and will look factory made. just ordered a hitch for my v-star 1300. so far i think the whole job less hitch will be about $350.00. now the questions, since i have never pulled a trailer. do i need safety chains? any worry pulling in the rain? will the hitch coupler tilt enough so it won't bind on the side stand or in the curves? what air pressure should i run in the 480 12 tires? any other conditions that i have to worry about. pics will follow when i get it done. bill
  12. As posted in a different thread, I just picked up my BushTec Trailer yesterday. As for Storage, I thought I would hang it from the wall of my Garage - to keep it safe when not in use. Do any of you do this? Would hanging it from the eyelet in the Tongue be okay or better from the frame? Craigr
  13. Since I'm too lazy to go out and check myself I thought I'd pop the question. When removing the rear upper frame assembly, do I need to worry about it being a part of the support holding the frame together, and will it make things go very bad...very quickly if not supporting the chasis. Tom Patterson's old '90 parts bike took a shot to the rear and bent up the trunk mount and frame, and lo-and-behold I actually have another upper... to replace the bent one. The rest of the frame looks pretty straight. I just wanted to make sure that the whole rig doesn't go ka-plooey when I take out that last bolt....
  14. I was just ooking at a pic i took when i was looking for somthing on my bike and had the covers off this is the left side behind the sidestade you can see a welded piece on the frame is this normal or is it a repair? i heard some of the early bike had frame issues. btw i have sabded and repainted the spot
  15. I want to send my seat to Rick for his mods... but I don't want to be without my bike for the 2weeks it will take. Does anybody have ANY kind of a seat I could borrow? I don't care if its beat and tatered.... as long as it will fit on my 2nd gen and hold my but off the frame. I would even consider buying a seat for a decent price. I will gladly pay the shiping costs for Priority mail both ways. Thank you Reaney in NH
  16. Hey Jeff! On the way to Ellijay this weekend, we passed by a Jack in the Box and I had to take a picture of it for you! I thought you might want to frame it, take it with you and put it in a place where you will see it everyday! Then you will want to hurry back to the good ole USA for some good eating!
  17. Built new trailer this winter. Still have to mount onto frame and test it out...
  18. I had a friend of mine go down on his 1300 on Sunday - hit the back end of a car (not paying attention). Fortunately, he is alright with only a broken finger. However, he sent me an e-mail this morning - with the following question - and I didn't know how to answer it - maybe some of you may have some thoughts???? I believe he was going slower than 20MPH - as he was in a small tourist town - with a lot of Sunday traffic - a Mercedes hit the brakes abruptly - he had turned his head - and hit the car - flying over the handlebar. Here was his question? The preliminary is that my bike isn't totaled. I haen't seen it since the accident and didn't have a chance to inspect it then, they had me strapped down as a precaution. However, I understand the forks are bent, etc. The guy at the yard where it was taken told me he thought the freeway bar saved most the side it was laying on. When I was laying on the ground, the front of the bike was pointing away from the impact, all I could see was the tires and undercarriage, it was on it's left side. So, after impact, the bike had to have turned roughly 90 degrees. It will be interesting (sad) to see. The only thing regarding the bike that concernes me at this point is the ultimate integrity of the frame. Do you think it should be a worry? In your travels have you heard of problems in this regard? Any advice?
  19. is there a certain time or a certain mileage when the frame on the 83 will crack, and will i have to remove the engine to fix it and do i want to? should i sell and get a 86 or newer?:sign67:what will i feel when this happens?, the crack i mean

  21. Yesterday my starter made a loud clunk "bang" noise when i push the start button but not all the time any suggestions what ma be the cause. Is this something I can fix or is a new starter in my future. 83std. Also the spring for the oil filter dose it go on the housing side or the frame side I dropped it when I took it off and not sure where to put it the parts pic looks like it goes to the housing side. Thanks, Dale
  22. I came across an ad in a magazine for these trailers, and had to check them out. They look as if they would tow quite well. I'm wondering if they would cause any wobble. I see they are solidly mounted to the hitch of the bike, or the bike frame. They don't look very big, though I suppose all trailers for bikes are small. Here's the link http://www.thirdwheeltrailers.com/index.php/home And they're Canadian I sure hope this works
  23. There has been several discussions concerning Steering Head Stability, ( ie. head shake ) for different bikes on this site. And it is of concern with the Ventures. Been doing the 15K maint. on the Busa yesterday and today, have all the panels removed. So I decided to take a few photos of the Frame on the 99 Busa, ( ie. Death Machine ) . Basicly to show the Extent of the Frame construction on the bike, and why, It does not have Steering Head Shake until after you exceed about 200 MPH ( not a typo ) !! Dry wgt on the bike is 476lb. -- Wheel Base, 58.5 in.-- 1.3 liter transverse 4 cyl. fuel injected. Anyway, photo's posted here to show the extent of the Frame construction, for a bike designed for high speed.

  25. On the 86'VR it appears that the starter solenoid has gone "belly up" on me. If I take a screw driver and jump across the two terminals on the solenoid the bike will start, Does anyone have one laying around for a 86 to 93 VR. Also, where in the heck does that small wire go to from the solenoid?!?! It just seems to disappear into the bowells of the frame. I would be grateful for any help I could get on this issue, As you all know, I can turn a wrench pretty good but Electric matters are Greek to me! Thanks Folks, Earl
