  1. I just found this product called Q-Bond, it repairs just about anything. I glued two pieces of abs at 90 degrees and within 15 seconds I could not pull them apart. If you google the product they show repairs to gaskets, plastics, abs, wood, etc. It can also be built up like a weld, it would be great for all of the plastic repairs on your bike. It is extremely strong and very easy to use. Just thought I would pass on.
  2. After my recent trip to the US, and stops at almost every Motorcycle Dealer in the North East, I have not been able to find Molly Lube or as referred to as Molly Dolop). What would be an appropriate substitute which is easy to find for adding to the Final Drive Gear Oil?
  3. I've got a leaky seal on my front forks. Due to financial constraints, they will have to wait to get fixed this winter. As of now, they don't have much pressure of any kind to them and riding a low rider without much suspension is not my cup of tea.... Lol. The class system flashes E1 which I'm assuming from what I've read is due to the lack of pressure or ability to create pressure. Anywho? Any easy ways to refil these with fluid and/or air so I can have a few more good rides this season before she gets overhauled this winter? Thanks guys!
  4. Is there an easy way to remove my TCI? It looks very hard to get at.
  5. anyone put a cup holder on a 83 venture ? if so which kind did ya get and where did you mount it so its easy to get to and not in the way?
  6. http://www.ledglow.com/index/ They look pretty easy to install. Everything is plug and play.
  7. Hi ... I have my collector box off. Contrary to popular wisdom, removing it was quite quick and easy, no doubt helped by one of the front header stubs being completely fractured. I thought the collector had the infamous rattle, but apparently not, when I shake it, it's silent. So ... I need to get the stub weded back on, and a couple of small cracks closed up, which will be easy enough. My question is about gaskets. There are six, and they are expensive. There are two part numbers 3JJ-14653 and 3JJ-14623. Boats.net lists them separately at $15.72 and $25.85 respectively. Cheapcycleparts.com also lists them, but has replaced the 14623 part number with 14653. This is a significant bonus, if their substitution works. Does anyone know, and can confirm, that these two part numbers can be substituted, or not? Thanks
  8. My Sweetie and I have been thinking about a trike but neither of us had ever been on one so we were not sure if we would like one or not. Last week we finally had an opportunity to take one out for a ride. Since i had never been on a trike before I call up Bongobobny and picked his brain (don't say it). He gave me excellent guidance about riding one and his advice really helped. We tried out a 2011 Harley Tri-Glide. I started out by myself to get a feel for it. Bongobobny was right by telling me not to try to lean, just let your body react, spot on words. When I tried to lean I felt like I was fighting the turn, once I learned to relax it was easy. Took about 5 minutes to get used to it. After about 15 minutes I went back and got my Sweetie and we were off. So what was the ride like? Like any Harley when it was at idle you felt the Harley shake but once you got moving that went away. The acceleration was very smooth and very quick, getting up to 70 mph was very easy. It was easy to hold the lane position at highway speed and it was easy to relax and enjoy the ride. We did notice that below about 60 the wind buffeting on the passenger was less than the Venture but above that speed the buffeting for both of us seemed worse. The noise in the cockpit area was noticeably less than the venture at all speeds except idle. For highway driving it was a very enjoyable ride. Now for the secondary highway ride. On 45 mph and 50 mph roads we both found the ride to be very uncomfortable. The front end tracked well and went right where I wanted it to go with no problem. The rear end however was a different story. It kind of felt that the back end was swaying back and forth to the point that if I was susceptible to seasickness I might have gotten it. It wasn't a greatly pronounced sway but it was there non the less. It sort of felt like the bike was trying to track back and forth on the ridge between the tire tracks but since I did not feel it on the front end I can not be sure if that is what was causing it. Since we had never ridden a trike before we can not say it that is a characteristic of a trike or just this one. I will say that on the rough sections of road the ride was not jolting like it would have been on two wheels which made for a smoother ride. The braking was very smooth but it took me a few stops to learn to use the rear brake more than the front, opposite of a two wheeler. Also it only had to remind myself a few times to not put my foot down at a stop before it became "natural". The heel shifter required you to really lift your heel quite high to shift but I think that would be very easy to adjust to. I have 35 inch inseams and the leg room was adequate however highway pegs would still be a must for me.The heat from the engine was not totally uncomfortable but I definitely noticed enough to comment on it and remember it. So what was our conclusions? Well my hips were very tired out after the ride (about 35 minutes), I attribute that to constantly fighting the swaying sensation. My Sweetie did not like the sensation on the back either. Like any Harley the seats would need to be replaced for any riding beyond about 1/2 hour. While this would be a great for interstate riding we do not feel that it was very good for other than that. Still not convinced that a trike is not for us. Until we have the opportunity to test ride other types the jury is still out on that, but if we do decide to go with a trike this one will NOT be on our list.
  9. I have a Universal Large Print Atlas that I've had for a few years. 2001 edition. Usually carry it along on trips just because it is so easy to look at and I don't trust Amanda (Tom Tom). I've gotten this one pretty ragged. Newest one I can find from Universal is a 2002. Is there a newer one with big maps like this. Easy to read and you don't spend all day looking for things.
  10. My kickstand switch is intermittent and has killed the engine going down the highway. Any experts out there with an easy fix?
  11. There were some items that used to be in the classified section that I thought SkyDoc was selling that I don't see anymore. I am looking for the needle shim mod that was sold as a kit. I thought at one point I could get the diaphrams and needles all assembled so it was a quick and easy plug and play mod. If anyone knows where I can get a kit like this, please post here as I would like to order these parts before I have carbs synced. Thank you, Bob
  12. :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: that was too easy.............lol
  13. Hello All, I wanted to put some tunes on my bike and did not want to spend $450 for some 4' bar speaker set up. so after great deliberation I came up with this. Amp is dwg with renote and speakers are Patriot which i bought at vidsonix. They are on Ebay and also at the web site. I have got say this thing CRANKS!!!!. All told I got about $150.00 in it and am very happy and easy install. Pm me if you got any questions. Also here is a link to the youtube video I posted. Thought this may help someone searching for a good system and not have to cash a savings bond. [ame= ] [/ame]
  14. Ok I looked at where the thermostat is in my 86VR and it looks like I have to take the front exhaust off does anyone know how to change it easy my owners manual just shows the thermostat not how to change it.
  15. New here, will add more photos when he stops riding it long enough to take more pictures! http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5261/5634591907_648b2b0173.jpg Not perfect, but 43K miles and runs perfect. Already laid it down gently in the driveway this morning and he was able to pick it up easy, no damage. It's got some scrapes already so he didn't feel like a moron. Glad I wasn't there to laugh at him, LOL!!!! 17. Are you you too far away to make it to my Maintenance Day? Well let's see...I've had members attend from as far as Texas, Louisiana, Florida...heck....even from as far away as Iceland and Australia so how can you POSSIBLY be too far away. It's really easy...just straddle that scoot and point it towards Ohio. Nothing to it. COWBOY UP and come on over.
  18. Well on of my biggest fears of owning an old motorcycle has come true. I have a melting wire connection. I am hoping this is or can be an easy fix. This is the Left side of the bike. As you can see from the picture its is melting the plug and attached wires. from what I have been able to see the lower connection of the plug goes down to some kind of vented box mounted behind the rear foot peg and above the exhaust pipe. The upper connection loops up and then down with a group of wires that shoot into the case going forward of the bike. The wires are only hot and smooking when motor is running. I tested with key on and it was cool, tested with key on and run switch on and it was cool. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is going to be an easy and fix. http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac264/bobandlou3/IMG00085.jpg
  19. I need information as to how our triked '89 Venture Royale is going to react at mountain pass elevations exceeding 9000 ft. I know I will have some loss of power. Am I going to have to worry about overheating or burning a piston if I pay attention and take it easy?
  20. Here's some roads that just scream for a slow and easy ride... http://www.bergall.org/temp/venture/routes.pps
  21. I have a 2000 RSV. Suddenly yesterday it was very difficult to downshift. Upshifting with my heel remained easy. Seemed to be easier to downshift if I was at lower speeds. After riding for several hours it worked back to normal. If it is a linkage issue any idea how I would adjust it? Doesn't seem that it would be an internal issue because I didn't feel or hear anything. Thanks for your thoughts. Bob
  22. Hello Everyone: Just wanted to thank everyone who commented on Flanders handlebar upgrade. It convinced me to order the bars. I installed the bars on Saturday and rode 300 pain free miles on Sunday. No more burning neck pain!!!! I will try to get around to getting pictures posted. I came up with a very good easy cheap way to save the bar weights. Any questions are welcome. I am glad to provide advise just like all you have done. Thanks......
  23. I hope there is an easy answer to an easy question. What is the normal water temp of an RSV? At what temp should the fan come on? Thanks all:bowdown: KB
  24. I got to talking with the guy that used to do all my lettering for my race cars. He says that it would be easy for him to do up a vinyl decal that we can put on the scoots pretty easy. Now if only 1 is made it is $10. However the more I can get made the cheaper each one becomes. Now if anyone wants this I am willing to mail them out to everyone once they are made so the only cost will be the decal itself. But I may be out of line even having one made for my bike. I just thought if I could get a dozen or so made that would get him to keep the templates on hand it would be neat. Shaun PS- if this is in the wrong forum feel free to move it and beat me with a wet noodle. Shaun
  25. With a little time to spare before work today I decided to start the job to pull the final drive and lube the drive shaft. In a matter of two hours I was able to pull the tire, remove, clean, moly and reinstall the hub. Pull the final drive and drive shaft clean her up, moly it and reinstall it. I was pleasantly surprised how easy and quick it was. Guess I’ll be putting this job on the yearly to do list.
