  1. Hey Guys, Just couple of updates, where the 1st is that I'm having to go up $5 on my price for reworking seats. It's only been more recently that I've been able to get a good handle on my actual product costs for reworking a seat above what I feel is my cost for the time involved. Most of this is for the 1.5" memory foam I have been using, where I am having to pay more for the sheets I'm using now. When I first started doing this, I was using some foam I had left over from a bedding change and decided to make good use of it. Then I found a supply that was on sale at a reasonable cost, but now I've having to pay something closer to retail. Then there is the cost of the spray adhesive and staples that I use that add up over time per seat. I just don't want to appear to be gouging my friends. And I'll honor my previous prices for folks that I have been talking to recently. But secondly, I have inserted an ad for saddlebag bolts that "Dragerman" so kindly named for me..........Butler Built Bag Bolts (aka BBB Bolts). http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1662 And since I was on a roll, I also made up several sets of the thumb nuts that I designed and have been using for years. I've also given these to close friends that I ride with locally. Both of these items allow you to take your saddlebags and seat off by hand with no tools. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1663/cat/7 I still have to test them out, but I think I can use the same design of the Bag Bolts and build a set of seat thumb bolts for the RSTD owners, so they can take their seats off without any tools. I'll post my findings after I make up a few sets and have a couple of close RSTD friends check them out. Hope this helps, Rick
  2. I know that suppose to post in classified but had to stop riding due to health.bad back had to sell it. I still have the intercom J&M with leads YAM277-OF. These are like new wifes only use twice. You know the cost new $250.00 ea will sell both sets for asking price $300 including shipping contact me at wesgillock@aol.com will take paypal to be safe for both of us.
  3. I'm thinking about buying a wrecked Venture to fix up and try to make a few bucks. My son can purchase bikes through Coparts so I might have bid on the one in the link I will post. I will have some cost with shipping to Iowa and auction cost. Give me some ideas on what you think would be a fair bid on this bike. If someone on this forum is bidding on the bike I won't pursue it. http://www.copart.com/c2/homeSearch.html?_eventId=getLot&execution=e1s3&lotId=17766739&returnPage=SEARCH_RESULTS
  4. I've placed my Rider 2 in the classifieds. I'll cover shipping cost in the US. First come first served.
  5. Got a couple estimates today to ship some parts (2 boxes) and was in sticker shock. To give an example, one box was 37 x 25 x 11 and actual weight 14 lbs. They put on the estimate 53 lbs billable weight for a cost of $36.50. I went to usps.com and it says $68 for 5 day parcel post. I reduced the dimensions to see if it would give me a different cost. Narrowed it down to 36 x 24 x 11 and it gave me $17.00. Apparently 1" on 2 of the dimensions makes a difference. The other box, UPS estimated cost of $33 and usps gave $17.00 for 5 day parcel post. I am guessing UPS is charging by billable weight and not actual weight? Anyone know?
  6. Hi, What is the approximate cost of parts to do the second gear repair these days? Not the labor, just parts. Thanks, Brian H.
  7. i bought a new jack at harbor fright last week end and just got enough guts to try it out , it raises the bike up 30 in. i am going to build 2 boxes to set the bike on when i need to get to both sides . the cost was 159.00 and is rated for 1100 lbs. now if the weather will just cool down enough to work on it ! Thom
  8. i need several people ...the more the better.......who would be willing to volunteer to be a part of a little fun, that arent afraid to get a little messy.....:whistling:at the rally. sorry but not explaining it now.... will give all the details at the rally......this will also involve the kids attending the final dinner. the goal of this little game is going to be to raise a few more bucks for St Judes....but dont worry it isnt going to cost you anything to volunteer..... and it is nothing physically demanding if you are willing to help out with this make a post saying so........... now i surely think tweety bird ,since he is the master mind of this entire site, should volunteer..........:whistling: This wont work if no one volunteers.........so please .....
  9. I have acquired a huge amount of 14 gauge thhn wire and rather than scrap it out, if anybody is going to do some lighting or whatever on their bike I'd be happy to mail 15 or 20 foot lengths of it just for the cost of the envelope and postage. btw - what I have now is black, I just got rid of 30 lbs of red. It's all used wire but the insulation is intact
  10. I have a 99 RSTD with 42,000 miles. I need to have the carbs gone through. Can anyone give me an idea of a "normal" cost? I live in west central Illinois and would like to have an idea of the cost prior to finding a shop to do this. Also, someone once said when I have the carbs gone through, I should have other then OEM jets used as it would increase the bikes performance. Truth or fiction? I appreciate any help/information.
  11. OK I have this "Friend" who dropped his RSV 2008 BlackCherry over Raven and REALLY MESSED up his Fairing Scratched both colors and gouged the ABS and plastic Chrome Piece too. I know my "Friend" will not be calling his Insurance Co because he dropped it. I'm sure "Somebody" here has been in this boat before? What is this Mess-up gonna cost my "Friend"? My "Friend" has a sick feeling in his stomach he is so upset! PEPTOBIZMO (cherry flavor) guzzled.
  12. What in Gods green earth makes these small tow behind motorcycle trailers so cotton pickin' expensive? Major manufactures have these things priced up in the same area as a full blown 6X12/14 tandem axel enclosed trailer. No way does it cost anywhere near what one of those would cost to build. And the scarry thing is.... folks are actually spending the long green to buy them. i know there are cheapies out there on the market, but I'm talking about the Bushtec's, ION's, ZZ's etc. When one of these things is priced at 4 grand retail plus shipping and they are selling direct it really makes me wonder..... I come out of the boating industry and no way does is cost that much to lay one of these things up in fiberglass, and that much in labor and material to finish one off....
  13. 2 Years ago I messed up my oil filter cover when I changed my own oil and had to get a new one--now I bring my bike in for oil changes which I did yesterday--also asked them to check brakes. They called as I was shopping and asked if I have messed with the rear tire in the past year-I told them no not since they put on a new tire for me. He said thats what I was afraid of , we forgot to put a spacer in and owe you and new set of brake pads. They still have my bike. They called back and said it also messed up the rotors and they are looking for a replacement used one or an after market as a new one is $800.00. I asked how much this was going to cost me. The dealer stated, nothing it was our mistake and we will get it back right before you get it at our cost, it will just take a few more days. Glad I listened to my wife and took it in for the oil change. Sometimes paying a little more can save you over the long run. I have dealt with this dealer for many many years and they have always done me right.
  14. I recently picked up another parts bike, a First Gen. MKII. It has a Cavalcade Seat on it and if anyone is interested in it I will send it to you for the cost of the shipping only. The riders area is a bit thread bare but the backrest and the passenger area is still good. The vinal (brown) part of the seat has no rips or tares and the foam is in very good condition. I hate to throw it away, so if anyone wants it for the shipping cost, let me know. Earl
  15. My Son in Law has a 6 cyl. '03 3rd Gen. "standard" shift Dodge Ram P.U. . Also, no codes a being shown. Any help would be appreciated!ough for me...I am also asking this on my Dodge Site but thought someone here might have had this same type of issue on a "cage":bighug:
  16. I am looking to purchase a leather tank guard BUT I don't want studs or a pocket on it. I will be using it to protect my tank from my boot !! I have a gammy leg and have to pass it over the tank to get on and off (while sitting up on the pillion seat),so if there was anything on the guard I could "come-a-gutsa" off the bike NOT A GOOD LOOK:thumbdown: As cost to Australia is a consideration--cheap too!! If anyone can help with web sites or contacts I would appreciate it ____________________________________________________________________ never ride faster than your guardian angel:2133:can fly

  21. Hello you all: In order to establish a comparaison of fees between motorbike users across the country (Canada). Please send me the fees related ot the use of a motorbike in your province. For instance, the cost of insurance(in full) for a motorbike RSV_2007, the cost of a motorbike driver's licence and finally the cost of license plates for your bike (all taxes included). Thanks for your feedback Ti-Lou
  22. Do any of you use the XM radio thru the Garmin 550. If so where did you get your antenna (GXM 30) and how much did it cost. Do you get good reception with it and any troubles with it. Thanks for the info. Lyle
  23. I've been a member since May of 2008 and somewhere between then, someone posted a thread on a women's black, mesh riding jacket. I ordered one and I love it. Now I have 2 friends that want one. I have no info or receipt. The tag says www.power-trip.com but when I went to the website, that doesn't look familiar, and I didn't see the one I have. I know that the cost was really low, around $35.00 plus shipping and I remember that they normally cost around $200.00. It also has the removable armour. When I did a search in "riding accessories, the only thread I found was from 06, so I know that's not the one. Can anyone help me out? Thanks Deb
  24. As Promised, I now have an ad in the classifieds for a reasonably priced Steering Head Replacement Washer for the First Gens. Here is the link to the ad. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1579 The price is $3.00 with shipping to the 48 US states. To be honest, I have no Idea what it would cost to ship to our friends way up north, but what ever it is I will only charge the actual shipping cost, nothing more. I also wanted to give my thanks to Lonestarmedic for sending me his washer so I could copy it. JB, your washer is on it's way back home, with some "friends" for your help! Steer Safe, Earl
  25. Where do I start, BradT BradT what am I going to do with him ??? First - He said I was not allowed to post under his screen name. (I do not have my own screen name because he said I have to go to the basement computer, while he sits up in our room with his laptop, in our nice warm bed.) Second - He gets a hefty speeding ticket today and has the nerve to complain. Oh yes did I mention this was the second one this year, first one on the bike Third - We go to mail a parcel to my ex-inlaws, cost just over 20 bucks, and he complained about that too, but all I said was at least it was not $ 118.00 (cost of the second point above) and boy did he look at me strangley. Fourth - I show up at work early and he says what are you doing here, and his co-worker had to give him sh... I had better stop here but I still remember my license plate and him taking the wrong ID, while we try to cross the border. I hope next year is better for him. Boy it feels good to vent ! NaughT
