When I got my 03 RSV I got 4 qts of oil Yamalube 10w30 Non-friction and yamaha filter #3FV-13440-10 is this right for my 03 RSV? I got from owner of bike and dont need to buy any if this is the right filter and oil can anyone tell me. Joe

I was wondering if anyone has compared both the Diamond R and Utopia Pillowtop drivers backrest and if so what were your pros and cons for each? Also, which did you opt for and why? Looking to buy, but not sure which to go with. Thanks, Mark

fairing and plastics help?

I've finally repaired most of the fairing and side plastics, they were in a hell of a state, some were snapped into 3 parts and one side had no tabs left to screw the sides onto. I managed to sort this out with a product called Plastex if anyone's interested. I bought it from here:- http://www.repairproducts.co.uk/page20.htm in the UK. I'm now trying to buy the screws and support clips (the metal clips that push onto the 3 fairing tabs each side) Anyone know where I can buy these from in the UK? I have been looking at a RSV to buy and i see alot of them that have no tank emblem why is that? i am looking at a 06 and i have found a few but they have taken it off are they not wanting people to know what they are rideing? if i was to buy a RSV where can i look to buy the 06 tank emblem any help at all would be nice. thanks

Bad news from the local mechanic. He said that the rear shock is gone and it is dangerous to ride. Good man, I think, cause he said it would be expensive if I bought it direct from Yamaha and suggested somewhere like ebay. So, I am looking for comments, advice and probably somewhere to buy a rear shock. Is it a bad idea to buy a used shock? My 89 only has 33K miles. Maybe its not the miles but the age. Greetings, I was at the local dealer couple days ago , The owner of the place has a 2000 mm RSV that he will sell me for 8500.00. What I was wondering is that a good price for it? And if so he said he had not started it for about a year. He told me they would clean the carbs and put in a new batt. It is his own personal bike. He was in a car accident so he was not able to ride anymore. Buy the way it just has 1000 mls. on it. What other things should i BOLO for? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. bossman.

I posted this before and got a reply. but, the thread was deleted into cyber space. I want to hook up 4 way flashers on my 07 RSTD. I know it can be done. Where's the best place to buy a tire, I need the rear, either a Dunlop, Bridgeston or Metzler? I tried Southwest Moto but I can't find a D404 150/90H15 or a 150/90HB15 all I can find is a 130/90H15. Thanks.

An interesting thing happened to me Saturday nite at one of the local biker hangouts, this one was in Amarillo. I was sitting at the bar, having a beer, visiting with friends. The band was playing, and the bar was kinda busy. The usual stuff. Three attractive young women walk in, and approach the bar, right next to me, to order their drinks. One young woman, (wearing a short dress, and pink and blonde hair!) does not order, and begins to look around. I asked her, are you looking for someone?... thinking I might start a conversation with her. She smiles and says yeah, I'm looking for someone to buy my drinks..(DRINKS, as in, LOTS of them!)...I said, are you even old enough to drink? She said, oh yeah I'm 21, but I'm a poor college student, and I need somebody to buy me drinks, so why not you? I said, hey, no thanks...she looked kinda pissed, and went over to the next sucker, and hit him up. Now, I gotta ask, WTF? I'm 49, and I look it, so do all young gals think good looks will always open an old mans wallet? I guess it works most of the time, otherwise why would they do it? Normally, a new gal will sit down next to you, and buy her first drink, and wait for the man to notice her, take an interest, offer to buy her a drink...yada yada yada..same old routine...at least you normally exchange first names! There was no way in hell this gal was gonna 'put-out' for a few drinks...and I'm not wanting one that would, anyway. I'm also aware that TABC (Texas Alchoholic Beverage Commission) 'stings' can happen, and since I didnt see the barstaff actually 'card' this gal, it sure could have been a 'setup'!! This young lady looked to be around 18 or 19 to me...I guess if she can afford college, a nice dress, pink hair, and a car to drive around in, she can most likely afford her first beer of the nite, at least! I DO buy drinks for my friends, and they for me, but that little gal had an amazing set of stones.

Looked in the owners and service manual and couldn't find an exact number for the headlight bulb on the 89. Anybody know what bulb to buy? -
Well it's about time. The trunk wing is finally available for the 06 Black Cherry, and will you look at that it is also available for the 08 Dark Grey metallic. I don't see it on the Yamaha USA web site, nor on any of the other suppliers that we use here. To buy it in Canada will cost you big bucks though. Hey Everyone, Hope you all will still let me be on this site even though it doesn't say Yamaha. Well last weekend wife and I was out looking and she found what she wanted, not for me. We went to the Michigan/Canadian Meet-N-Eat and had a Great Time (Thanks Sqid and Lonna). Then on Sunday I was all reved up and wanted to go out looking. Had to buy, but it does not say Yamaha, only Harley-Davidson. Wait a minute, I hope you all didn't think I was talking about getting rid of my RSV were you. If you were you should be ashamed of yourself. I just couldn't find a good pair of riding boots that said Yamaha on them. Later-

I am just about to buy new tires for my 99'. The dealer wants $40 each to mount, balance, and new stems if I bring them in. (whether I buy them from him or not) How hard, or even possible is it to unmount and mount new tires on the rims. I have read about some of you buying machinery to do this -- but can it be done without the big tools. I don't have room for any more equiptment, but plan on removeing the wheels myself so I can grease everything, and do brakes. I am interested to hear from some of you that have hand mounted RSV tires before. Thanks,
