What diameter is the handle bar on a second gen?

OK gents, I need to tow my 1st gen VR in a trailer. My sport bike handlebar harness won't reach across the buck-horn bars. What is the recommended method for tie-down? -
Took my VR out for a ride today and noted that the fuel gauge, which had been down to 4 bars yesterday, was now showing full. In fact there was a bar where the "Full" usually resides. I had it up to 200 km (about 125 miles) with no change, then as I took a fairly sharp right hander at an intersection, it dropped down to 5 bars and the "Full" reappeared. Once I straightened up, it went back to about 6 bars. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this (Besides some prohibitively expensive part needing replacement.)? Oh yeah, also...I've not had previous experience with a VR before and do't know anyone with one around here. So...on deceleration, when it gets down to around 2,000 r.p.m., there's a sound coming from under the "Gas tank" that sounds like...well...slapping, popping. I know that's not the best description, but for now, it's all I have. It may be perfectly normal, but I've never had that particular sound on any bike I've owned before. And finally (Don't newbies get annoying after a while?), when I start it up (Hot or cold) the motor spins a couple of revs then seems to "hang" for a split second then starts. Again, does that sound normal? I'm really going to have to find someone with a MKII to do some comparing.

I am considering putting The barons star bars on my 2008 rsv. Does anybody near the Sacramento,Ca area have these on their venture. I would like to see them on a bike before I decided to do it. Can anybody help?

I've got an '83 VR and am looking to bring the handlebars back about an inch or two without pinching the ends. (I'm running a leaning sidecar and the wider stance of the bars gives me more leverage) Is there something that would allow me to do so?

I am looking to up grade my stock handle bars to a set of Flanders. Probably will do the whole upgrade to the stainless steel lines. Who has the best price for this upgrade ? If there is someone close to where I live that has done this I would sure like to check it out. Steve

any one have this happen? went out for a short ride as im still healing. was ridding down main street in a little town after a 40 mile ride. Dianne was with me i hit the throtle and poof bike stoped? ok coast over to the wendys parking lot. shut key off turned it back on tank showed one bar? while on side stand. i took it off the side stand it showed 2 bars on the fuel gage. would not start? ok i carry a one gallon gas can in top trunk. gas staion right next to wendys thank god as its hot out today. i got one gallon of gas and the bars didnt move on the fuel gage? hit the starter and vroom it fired right up. went over and filled the tank. bars are at the top. took 4.5 gallons total to fill it thats with the one gallon gas can i allready put in. the petcock is stuck so i dont dare try and move it. from the looks of the petcock it looks like its on RES?. never had this happen before and allways got around 40mpg. when the bike ran good. looks like im now pulling 34 mpg? -
I just installed a set of MBL handlebar risers on the wing. They bring the grips up and back. I was getting a stabbing pain at the base of my neck between the shoulders:starz: and they seem to have solved that. I had the same issue with my RSV and put on a set of Flanders G2 bars and braided stainless lines at a cost of about $500. The MBL risers were $69 from wingstuff and I got free shipping that they were offering for a limited time.

It appears that I am starting to have issues with my 08 Veture Fuel Sensor. When I fill up, it shows I am down 3 Bars, No Bars when I still have about 60 miles worth of Gas and No warning light with no Bars. Is there a quick fix Luke an additive etc. or is it just gone duff and needs waranty replacement?

Got my 08 V star yesterday, changing from 87 royale. Sure miss my center pegs.But I will get use to it. I am 5-9 and been told to set the handle bars back for more comfort. What is the best way risers or 2010 handle bars. Opinions will really help. Mike:think:

I am looking for a set of stock RSTD bars for my RSV, I want the extra width of the RSTD bars that the Flanders dont give. Any one willing to part with theirs?

Before I switch from my 87 royale to this 07 1300 v star. what fix is there for the handle bars. new cables and breake lines.? Mike -
I would like to put Barons Star Bars on my 07, venture will the Tour Deluxe throttle. clutch and brake lines be long enough to do the job. Our do i have go to after market sources. Thank you for any help.

On my way to work, I noticed my dash lights weren't workin then I pulled over & saw my head light & Signal lts weren't working. I got to work and when I turned the bars to the left it all came back on. Is there a connection I should look at to find the problem?

I purchased an 09 Venture new last April and have a little over 9000 miles on it now. I was in a long sweeper at highway speed and took my left hand off to set the cruise and a wobble started to come in as soon as I removed my hand. I checked the front and rear suspension, pressures and alignment and everything seemed fine. Took it out and tried it again and it did the same thing again. Have since noticed that it occurs at a lower highway speed when I am riding double. I was wondering if the scoops in the fairing could be causing this at speed when turning and also if the leveling links might help out. It stops as soon as both hands are on the bars and there aren't any impulses felt in the bars when riding under any conditions. Wondering if it is just a quirk of the bike at speed.

Folks, I will be needing 1" Chrome Clamps to install Larry (Carbon-One) braces for Crash Bars stiffening. Then with the Crash Bars now stiff I would like to add Foot Pegs. The 1" Clamps are pretty standard equipment... Can anyone recommend Good Foot Pegs at JC Whitney? The reason for JC Whitney is Free Shipping over $75.00. Maybe all JC Whitney Foot Pegs are Crap??? My wife says the back rest on my 07 RSTD is too unconfortable. I must attend to agree. It sets you too straight up and makes you slide forward. I was wondering if anyone has the same complaint? If the rear back rest support bars and risers wher back another 2 inches I think it would be much more comforatable. Any suugestions?Thanks Mark:fingers-crossed-emo -
:95:Well it finally happened! I was waiting at a stop sign for oncoming traffic to come through so I could make a left turn and the bike hadn't completely warmed up, I guess, when I let out the clutch and "Big Gal" lurched forward and choked down. Next thing I know I'm laying on my back in the middle of the road and "Big Gal is resting on the crash bars. Not a whole lot of damage other than my pride, a small scuff on front and rear bars but alls well otherwise. So, that being said, where do I sent my money and how much???

Just curious...I know that there is a CLOCK in the tripmeter area, but it is hard to get to for just a glance. And I have my Zumo 660 hanging out over the gas cap. I have looked at the "Formotion" Clocks, however none of them will work because of the curves in the bars. I was hoping to find a nice clock to put somewhere near the right side brake reservoir, or near the handlebar controls... Let's see some "innovative" clock placements please. Thanks, Wally

Does any have a good way to mount a video camera that won't shake? I've mounted to handle bars and to fairing but can't get it smooth enough to watch.

How do I get at the handle bars to adjust. I see an allen screw in the front of the instrument pannel and two bolt on the rear(tank side). If I take these out will the instrument panel come off so I can adjust the bars? Also, can I place a 1" riser without changing cables? Thanks for any advise. Mark

Has anyone noticed that the bars on the 2nd ger venture are not very strong? They seem they will not protect the front area of the bike.\, only bend in on a very low speed drop. (like falling over)

Tie-down location on RSTD?

I use a locking wheel chock in my trailer and two tie downs to hold the back of the bike down and forward. My question is are the rear crash bars sufficiently secure to use them to connect to my D-Rings or is there a better place Thanks! -
Hi all. I've always been a big fan of these grips. http://www.jcwhitney.com/wcsstore/jcwhitney/images/imagecache/G_12128G_CL_1.jpg I know, they're not everybody's favorite, but I like 'em. My question is this. I've noticed that the grips on my 84 VR are by far the longest I've ever seen. Is it possible to get the style of grip I've shown in the picture to fit on these bars? Thanks!
