  1. As mentioned Deb and I have both been riding Yamaha's for years and we have sort of Yamaha shrine going on it our Garage. We were both lucky enough with our RoadStar's to capture the nice official 16X20 Yamaha promotion poster of both our 01 and 05 Roadstars, framed them and they hang next to each bike in the Garage. Now that we have a Venture in the Garage I was wondering if anyone might have a that cool promotional poster they came out with when the Midnight Venture first came out? I would be willing to pay a fair price for it and of course shipping cost. I figured this would be the best place to ask. Thanks for looking!
  2. Any chance anyone out there knows of a trunk (or even the top half of one) for a white 1988 Venture Royale someone would part with? A friend of mine is restoring one he recently rescued. If so, please contact him directly at maleneym@aol.com (or reply here and I'll pass the messages along). Thanks!
  3. How is your new Wing working out? If Yamaha does not upgrade the Venture for 09 I'll be taking a real hard look at Honda for sure.
  4. This was in my work classifieds, if anyone might be interested. 1987 Yamaha Venture The original Venture Royale 1300 model. Absolutely great condition. AM/FM/Cass, CB, intercom, electronic cruise, air susp. with on-board air compressor, rider backrest, luggage, highway pegs, newer tires, new grips, shaft drive, 94K miles, have photos. $2,900 Doug Zitkus 309-378-1588
  5. Folks, I have a cracked glass cover on the headlight of my 1989 Venture. I can fix it, but I noticed CaptinKirk has a 1984 Venture he is trying to part out to recoup his money. Would the glass headlight cover from his 1984 fit my 89? I think it will not....but I sure would like to help out Captinkirk rather than someone else on ebay. Thanks.
  6. I took my 89 Venture out yesterday and took if for a short ride (hey it was 45 degrees out here!). Anyway when I got home there was some smoke coming out from under the bike. Upon further investigation, the motor in the back was covered with oil and the exhaust was smoking from oil dripping on it. I went back to the garage and the floor was spotless, then went out and shut the bike down, left it there for about 10 mins and got about three drops on the driveway. When it is running, though, I can see a drip about every 20 seconds onto the exhaust. It is definitely in the rear of the motor. Any ideas? Thanks Jim
  7. I just bought a 84 venture and, being young and stupid, had to take it out to *try* it out the next day (its still around freezing up here in Wisconsin). So after I got used to such a big bike, I was hammering up through the gears and, in fourth gear, the engine sped up faster than the bike. The clutch was slipping. It did this again, going up a hill shifting into second gear. I dont think I missed releasing the clutch before hitting the gas, I have driven a lot of smaller motorcycles in the past... Is my clutch going? If not, have I done so much damage to it that it will go out soon??? I know this isnt good, but how worried should I be? Also, the guy who sold me the venture insisted that everyone takes them all the way to the red line, and some beyond, no problem. Is this true???
  8. Just listed a 99 Venture for sale in the classifieds. This belongs to a friend of mine and it has been very well maintained. Never dropped or laid down. It your interested let me know and I will get you in touch with him. Great bike at a great price for someone. Mike
  9. A while back someone was asking for a Venture picture to use for their computer desktop background. Below is a copy of the pic and I know it will work well on up to a 21 inch monitor. It will not let me attach it to the forum so I will send it to Don and maybe he can make it available somewhere on the site. In the mean time if you want a copy of it send me a PM with an e-mail address so I can forward it to you. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c66/CNONT/rylstarvntre_1280.jpg
  10. Hey all still debating on which bike and the nomad is a bigger bike engine wise and quite a bit cheaper and I know all the accessories you get with venture and I really like them both but can't decide, had indeed sat on both and the nomad is lower. anyway any thoughts appreciated can get the 07 venture @ 13,900.00 or the nomad @ 9,800.00 Thanks Brian D.
  11. Honey and I were discussing the origin of theVenture and have sent a genetic sample to the lab to confirm my theory. :whistling: The Venture is a Hybrid cross occuring from an unnatural sex act between a Goldwing and a Harley Superglide. :rotf::rotf: The resulting offspring fortunatally received all of the best parts from both parents and none of the recessive genomes.
  12. While on Main street in Daytona today I snapped this photo of a Venture rider. Anyone know if he's a member here? DT
  13. This is why I don't do stoppies on my venture.

    My Venture Trike is Gone

Just thought I'd let y'all know that I have finally sold my venture, trike kit and all! I have not been terribly active on the Venturerider site due to other time commitments, but I did want to thank you all, especially those who contributed all those techie articles that tended to improve on the design of the Venture, and I also enjoyed all the chit-chat and exchanges. My wife and I even got to attend one Meed 'n Eat in western NC... those who were there will remember the Midnight Venture with training wheels Anyway, I'd like to stick around a while if y'all don't mind... I will probably not be buying another bike, but you never know. I've been riding for 55 years, and old habits are hard to break. Thanks to all who made this site possible, and those who work so hard to keep it running smoothly... God bless every one of you and above all, RIDE SAFE!!!! Charlie
  15. I was sitting here watching an old movie tonight. I don't even know the name of it. Goldie Hawn is coaching a high school football team in the ghetto. A lady friend gave here a ride home on her motorcycle...not sure of the year but I THINK it was an '85 Venture. Pretty cool. Never saw a lot of them in the movies.
  16. It's with a very heavy heart that I let you all know of the passing of a great friend and brother. Many of you who are PGR members may know the name "Deltoid" GA Ride Captain. Mike Bland was one of the finest people I've ever met and one of the few I would consider a true friend. He lived with no compromise. A Marine to the end Mike died of a brain tumor Friday night without a wimper. Through months of deteriorating health he never complained and continued to make people around him laugh and feel good about themselves. I will really miss him. I bought Mike a Venture Guardian Bell last Christmas in the hopes that there would be a miracle and Mike would ride again. He has an '07 Midnight Venture and was a member here even though I don't think he ever posted. He liked to read a lot of the tech stuff. Mike was cremated Saturday and we will have a memorial service later this week. the Guardian Bell will be attached to his urn and protect him on his final ride. I wish you all could have known him. He would have fit in perfectly with the great group of people I have met here. Thanks for the friendship and the miles Mike. I will miss you.
  17. I took delivery of a new leftover 2007 Royal Star Venture. I am so pleased with this motorcycle. The Venture is my 21st Bike and I absolutly love this machine! Thanks Yamaha! Happy Venture Rider
  18. :confused24:can anyone tell me how many pins a c bus cable has. and if a clarion dcz 625 clarion cd changer will work on a 2006 venture.
  19. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/225.gif any advice on heated grips for a 83 venture?
  20. Greetings. Neeed some help regarding dressing up my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic II. Bought the bike in December and it is arriving here in Iceland next week. Was fortunate enough to find some hard bags from a 2005 Venture here on VR.org from mr. Rick Butler (thousand thanks Rick:))and would like to add that this was the easiest transaction ever. What I am wondering about is if any of you Royal Star riders/owners have swapped the leather bags for hard Venture bags and if there are any modifications needed. By looking at the OEM parts from Yamaha it seems like the supports under the bags are a little different but I would guess that it would be an easy modification. Any tips or advice greatly apreciated. Secondly I just have to have the Venture trunk for my bike. Would like my wife to have it comfy behind me. As far as I can see the only thing in general I need is to get the frame for the trunk as well as the trunk itself of cause. Do you guys know if there are any modifications needed and/or if this is a simple bolt on? Looking forward to hear from you guys and many thanks in advance.
  21. The only thing better then a Black Venture is... a Black Venture with a Cherry on top! Black Cherry Rules!
  22. Every once in a while a Venture item goes nuts in bidding. CLICK HERE
  23. i have a chance to pick up a pair of electra glide classic mufflers so i am wondering if anybody has tried to use them on there venture?
  24. Hello everyone" First of all i would like to say that you have a great site. So much information , a lot of great people. I have never posted anything online before so please bare with me i will get better at this. I h ave been a member on this sight for some time i just have not posted this because i didn't want to seem like i joined this sight just to benefit from other members knowledge. Last spring i purchased a 88 venture royale which i enjoyed all summer long putting a total of 7500 miles on. when purchased it had only 19,820 however there were quite a few small issues as the po did not take very good care of her. I live in janesville wi. and this winter we have had record snow fall and cold weather. So i have had plenty of time to adress many of these issues, I replaced tires metzler marathons, all gaskets for side covers, thermostat, gel battery, cleaned and inspected carbs, greased rear wheel to include hub, new rad hoses, plugs, wires cleaned all electrical connections and greased also spent a ton of money on cleaners and buffing wheels, to make engine cases look like chrome then cleared. Finally the reason for post. not havin another venture to compare i feel it runs well going down the road. When i first start the bike it appears to be starving for fuel. also it sounds like it is hitting on half the cyliders until good and warm if i leave the choke on for more than a minute it fouls the right front plug. while the others appear to be starving. i tried to sync and adjust carbs yet this appears to be fuel related. Also while idling warm or cold with light steady throttle the exhaust makes a pop pop pop sound. i have tried everything i know to correct this and it is getting the best of me. I have spent countless hours in the garage please help. also i have a fairly loud knoking sound coming from the clutch side when it is released and nothing while it is pulled in. clutch action is good i have replaced fluid and bled at the same time as new brakes and fluid change. thanks in advance sorry for long post and clutter. I will get some pics up soon once i learn how. she really is starting to look like a beautiful white venture. almost forgot i just got my new travelcade and set of rivco air horns!
