Spring is in the air and riding season is here ( at least in South Texas ). Last week the wife and I went up to Wimberly for a day trip. Round trip we put about 500 miles on the bike. The trip up was fine but the ride back I started getting sore. Even a 2 hour stop in San Antonio for dinner on the river walk didn't offer any real relief. Wifey did't complain much because all she had to do was sit there and look pretty. Which brings us to the meat and pataos of this thread... I' considering an aftermarket seat. I had a '01 Roadstar and I put a Mustang seat on it. It greatly improved the comfort. Turned the bike from a 45 mile a day ride to a 300 mile a day ride. However, Mustang does not make a seat for my Venture. You would think that they would considering the popularity of this bike. So that limits me. I'm thinking Corbin, but I've never had one before. If any one has any experience with them please let me know.

Well today I relocated the fuel filter to under the seat. Let me tell you, even though I read an old thread on how to do this, it was still a major PITA! I can't see how someone can do it without removing the fuel pump. The screw to hold the rollover valve is almost impossible to replace because of the nut in behind which has to be held in place with fingers. I couldn't do it for anything so I used a cable tie and it worked real good. I spliced the fuel line where the filter was and cut the line under the seat and re-inserted the filter. Now I'm just waiting for my glass filter to arrive from J&P and after that I'll only have to change the filter element. I don't recommend anyone try this if you have large hands or if you're trying to cut back on swearing. I'm sure some of you who have relocated or changed the fuel filter can relate! Anyways, here's to Yamaha for this awful bit of engineering......

I recently bought a Zumo 550 GPS system, and I am trying to connect it to my 07' RSTD. I was hoping someone here might have a suggestion as to where to connect the wires. The owners manual talks about the auxiliary connector under the seat near the battery, but i didn't know if that could be used in this situation. I'm not the greatest with electrical components. Any advice? Thanks -bjmstar82

Argh. Got the new Avon from Southwest Moto Tire (great price, fast delivery, fresh stock... just no way to phone them)... Front Avon Venom-X AM41 MT90B16 74H Now the shop can't mount it. It's more than 1" narrower. they can't get it spread enough at the bead to have it seat. Was there other, wider, rims available for an 00 RSV? Mine look like everyone else's I have seen. thanks

Ok ... so NOW I've heard everything ... I wonder if the fact that he's trying to patent a new seat might have anything to do with it ... http://www.mississauganews.com/article/10066 Cheers, Lou

have a lot of time on their hands? I want Corbin to make a solo seat for my 2nd gen but the only way they can do it is to have a bike there. They say they have to make a mold and fabricate a seat pan. They can't just use a seat I send to them. They assured me it would not hurt the bike, they put down plastic and make a mold with fibreglass, and that any 2nd gen would work. Unfortunately I live in Florida so theres almost no chance of me doing it and my Wife absolutely loves her pillow top so a regular Corbin his/hers won't do. Anyone that has some time on their hands and wouldn't mind being a model please let me know. Thanks.

Ok, it is time to buy a backrest. I need your help. Diamond Accessories or Utopia? In the picture they look almost the same. Either one looks like it would match the stock seat. I know how the Utopia mounts but not the Diamond Acc. I think they both fold for access to the passenger seat. Can they be easily removed without hardware sticking out in between the seats? Can they be pretty much universally adjusted, and more important, will they stay there? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

The older RSV midnight models came with a stock seat that did not feature the pillow look, It appears that this style seat is no longer available on the '08 models. It looks like the only option is for the pillow top (with indented buttons?) style seat. Can anyone offer a comparison of the "feel" between the two model seats?

Today I went out for a ride and stopped by a Yammy dealer. I sat on a 08 and the bike seamed smaller to me then my 02. But that aside the seat seamed like it was wider and a little taller (fit my large posterior just fine) and the bike seamed to set lower. I thought this phenomenon a little odd, but the seat was comfy. Any of you notice this or am I just the only one???.........Ron

Heated Seats I checked it out at the Michigan Swap Meet yesterday. Talked to the guy and said that he does all models and uses the best stuff out there. He had two seats on display so I sat on them and yes they were warm. Felt good if you know what I mean! The pricing was very reasonable. http://www.motorcyclehotseat.com Phone number 248-446-1718 Motorcycle Hot Seat c/o Steve Tamplin 11484 Ridge Road South Lyon, MI 48178 E-mail from Steve: Thanks Al, Checked out the post and the comments. The heating system will only draw about 2 amps, so that should be no problem. Also the heating element will not change the look of the seat. Tell the guy's from your forum that if they mention your post for the month of March I will give them a 10% discount. If I get a few jobs, I'll give you a 20% discount on your seat. Thanks Al!!! Anyone happen to have an old seat lying around that one of these could be salvaged off of, or just happen (by some odd luck) to have one sitting in a drawer somewhere? Back in the summer when I was having problems with fouling plugs and had my seat off, I realized I was missing one. Maybe that could be causing some un-noticed vibration, and one of the reasons my tailbone kills me sometimes after long rides. If not, I'm going to see if the local "stealer" can get me one, at whatever outrageous cost I'm sure it would be at. (#3 in the pictures)

I have a 1st Gen. I'm a peg fan. But I would like to either lower my pegs or raise my seat so it is a little farther from my seat to my feet. Do floorboards lower your feet? Has anyone made the seat a little taller?

Does anyone have one of these on their bike? I have a Corbin seat, but sometimes the butt gets real sore on those long days. I am considering buying a sheepskin seat cover.

Need advise on aftermarket seat for my RSTD
Guest posted a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I'm finally in a position to buy an aftermarket seat. I hear great things about the Mustang's. And I've heard good & bad about the Ultimates. And I've heard more bad than good about Corbin's. I've only sat on the Mustang once and it was on a Valkyrie. I really wasn't sure what to think. I'm 6'4 and weigh about 300 pounds if that helps anyone help me make a decision. I also have to consider my wife's comfort if anyone has advise on that. Thanks, Scotty- 10 replies

Can anyone tell me how a Travelcade compares to the stock seat or any other as far as height and forward position? I only 5'9" so I expected it to be a little taller than my cruiser, but it feels like I'm too close to the tank and even with the highway pegs my legs aren't stretched out. before I start cutting on the seat I thought I'd ask.

Anyone had a Mean City Cycle Seat Modification done on their bike. Looking to get the wife's seat done on her Honda VTX 1300, so she can keep up with the old man on our touring adventures. If yes, which grade of drivers seat modification did you select. If this mod works I might try it on my 2nd Gen Venture. Thanks
