    Why?

WHY? WHY YOU ASK! Better yet! Do you walk to work or carry a lunch ? Something to ponder this winter. And who said drivel? No drivel allowed in this thread! :moon:
  3. YOU HAVE TO WATCH VERY CLOSELY, but I will say, his fingers never left his hands! Took you long enough to see that didn't it? LOL
  4. I am not sure you could give it away..... nobody could afford the shipping. Heh it worked didn't it. Necessity is the mother of all inventions! Heh it worked and you got'r done so who has a problem with that? Bubber
  5. There is one in every crowd! LOL I can open my garage door too................if I want to freeze my personals off. When did you say spring was coming?
  6. I have a 1 stall garage with a Hot-Dawg 45,000 natural gas hanging heater with a thermostat. Insulated all the way around and roof, insulated steel garage door with foam I glued on to it. Set it and for get it. It gets warm in no time flat and stays that way for a long time before it starts up again. Natural gas is the only way to fly. I bought it off of Craig's List, it was a good buy. Came with heater and double wall chimney. It has a power exhaust built in so I ran it right out the side of the back of the garage (past the eves) and fired it right up. Snug as a bug in a rug as they used to say back in the day! Bubber
  7. Ya I was waiting for comments from those below the Mason-Dickson Line to chime in. While you can be enjoying much warmer weather in your neck of the woods, we in the great white North now have time to do those things we put off. Get those projects posted so we can all see what others are doing and encourage others to do the same, help out with parts, or give some help or just some friendly advice. I am not looking forward to the long Winter but at least I have my 1 stall garage/ workshop with a hanging natural gas heater to go hide out in when I hear the lonely call of my scoot wanting to be pampered. So ifin your riding good on you, ifin your wrenching lets hear what your up to. If you ain't got a list you won't get to it. WOW who does that sound like, gotta go the warden is coming. LOL Bubber.
  8. Better move to Minnesota where you don't have to put up with that crap! LMFAO

    Reflectors

Well here are the pictures for installing the reflector that was on the vertical guard prior to install the the saddle bag guards. The horizontal guard is 3/4" and the vertical guard is 1" diameter. I used a length of 3/4" heater hose to fill in the gap over the tube and the reflector. Slit the tube from one end to the other and place that slit to the back of the reflector. Cut the heater hose a little shorter than the reflector and if the threads in the hose show use a black magic marker to darken them black. 1) Bare saddle bag guard 2) 3/4" rubber heater hose over the bare rail 3) Reflector attached to top rail of saddle bag guard Thanks much Bubber

You are a very sick man for torturing us like that! LMAO Have a great time, we all will be partying at your house and NO we ain't cleaning up after ourselves. LOL TOGA, TOGA, TOGA. Please pass mass quantities of that adult beverage.
  12. Congratulations on 28 years sobriety, I assumed you will make it the next three weeks. LOL May you have many more! Bubber
  13. Decided to post the finding on the Craftsman and you can make your own decisions. From: "S.P.": "I've had mine for about a year now and it has malfunctioned twice. The rubber plug leaks and a threaded plug would be desired, but wall thinness may prohibit this. Plug access is a pain as it's location is under the return spring and on the side, rather than on top when the jack is fully retracted. Going to wrap electric tape around the jack, covering the plug to see if this helps ...poor design. When it works it is a back saver. I have a classic GT750 and doing the points and timing on the jack is very convenient. Or any maintenance on the carbs, air cleaner, etc. Anything to keep me out of a unright fetal position is a plus. Got spokes to polish rims to clean ...on the jack it goes." Update From "S.P.": "I finally found the reason my Sears Motorcycle jack keeps failing and is probably the same issue on some of the other responders issues with this jack. The oil fill plug does not vent properly. As the jack is raised a vacuum develops in the outer chamber causing a pressure differential great enough to overcome the ball valve seating. Oil will not feed to the piston and the jack feels like it's low on oil. Put more oil into the jack (removing the plug (and the pressure differential along with it) and it may start working again but the plug (and extra oil) will blow out the fill hole when retracting the jack. Making a #$%^ mess. Replacing the rubber plug with a 5/16" grommet, inserting a plastic tube to fill the grommet hole (and provide a positive vent) enables the jack to work flawlessly, full piston strokes to the full height of the ram. Hope this alleviates someone else's frustration, a $0.43 fix." Hope this works for all Steve aka Bubber
  14. Well that is one of the problems, from all the posts the buyers claim that Sears just tells them to bad and that there are no replacement parts available for the jacks. Sears is notorious for buying from the the lowest price vendor and then switching vendors at the price of two cents savings. They all pretty much claim Sears tells them to kiss off. Like one guy said it has got to be a law suite in the making, but I am only reporting the info not making it. I could find little or no reviews on the Larin jacks. What I did find was not negative. I was very surprised about the Sears reviews... makes me wonder just how lucky I would be. And I ain't real lucky to begin with. I did find where a guy claims to have found the reason why the Sears jacks fail and has a fix. I copied it for safe keeping in a word file. If people want I can post it. Bubber
  15. Well I read the reviews of the Craftsman jack and they pretty much say the same thing the bottle jack leaks and spits oil all over the floor and if you you the lock system you can't get theMC off because the hydraulics don't work. Looks like 60 negative reviews Vs 55 good reviews. That is a crap shoot at best. I will be looking for Larin reviews to see what is up with them. Bubber
  16. I want to buy a MC jack and both the Larin and the Craftsman motorcycle jacks are on sale. Larin at Pep Boys is $49.00 and the Sears Craftsman is $59.99. Is there one that is better than the other or are they equal? I am leaning towards the Craftsman 1500 lbs jack. COMMENTS ????? Bubber

    Reflectors

I haven't tried these yet but my plans are: 1) build up two bands of black electrical tape on the smaller diameter horizontal guards where the end of the reflector would be and attach the reflector over the tape. 2) I have some flat flexible foam that I was going to put in both halve of the reflectors an screw the reflectors together compressing the foam and binding them on the chrome rail. Both require a little trial and error. Anybody else do this and what worked for you? I have seen it. Actually I think I saw it on scooterbob's bike at the M&E in St.Cloud Mn. Well scooterbob does yours have side reflectors on the horizontal guards for you saddle bags? Bubber

    Reflectors

Thanks Pecker! The reflectors came in today's mail. Let me know if I can help you out sometime. Thanks Much! Steve aka Bubber
  19. ARE you referring to the "cow bell" that comes down over the tube from the fork?
  20. Take it all in to them in a basket (no pun intended) and tell them to assemble it if they want measurements. This time demand to see the I basket and make a mark on it that you can Identify later without taking it apart. Once burnt your a little wiser! Good luck on the next basket. Steve aka Bubber
  21. Well I was looking in the [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15244]Royal Star Venture Parts list (started 09/28-07)[/ame] for a set of donated reflectors. I need a set of right and left rear vertical reflectors that go on the stock saddle bag guard. I took them off when I installed the horizontal saddle bag guards. Them traded them away for a part. Well I saw them install on the horizontal guards I was wishing that I had kept them. Anybody out there have a set they would part with? Give me a shout via PM or right on this posting. Thanks Much Steve aka Bubber
  22. Some insurance companies let you purchase insurance by the 1K of coverage. In other words insure it for 5K at $100.00 for 1K of coverage. If a total loss occurs then they pay you 5K for the total. Just a thought. Bubber
  23. That could be awhile. You know everybody from one coast to the next, and everybody (especially the girls) have a spare bedroom with your name on it. Hotel Wild Hair. OK! Yes !! I am jealous! Ride safe my friend and be safe. God speed and come back when you can. Note to self: I gotta find a wife that lets me do this kind of stuff. Steve aka Bubber
  24. I am planning on being there and I have a "Show and Tell" for all you nice people. It is a surprise so you gotta show to know! LOL Bubber
