It had to be his evil twin....he would never ....ever.... go to the dark side.... I am obtaining the video from his local Walmart to show he couldn't be in two places at one time.... I still think he was photo shopped into the MD event...

Newbie with an 87 that needs help.
KIC replied to D4klutz's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Good luck on the new nice ride. The information here is overwhelming. So much info..so little time to digest and use it. I got my 89 in December and my 87 in Feb. M 89 had similar issues that you have. Each one has been resolved by following the links and search ability here. Grease the speedo ASAP so you don't ruin it. Either pull the whole speedo unit and do it from the inside. You can look up member Golf and Venture and see if he has anymore grease fittings for sale, or I can mail you mine and you can send it back. It is easier to grease it from the front ( headlight out) then to take the whole speedo apart. Also, to use the search function efficiently , go to the very bottom to Google Search and click on the little dot on the http://www.venturerider.org. This will only search the forum and is way more efficient. One other suggestion: As you read the well written tech articles posted here... copy and paste them into Word and print them out for a 3-ring binder. You will develop a better manual then the dealer one. P.S. You also have to harass, intimidate, conjole, ( in a friendly manor) the 2nd Gens or you will be kicked out of the 1st Gen rider's club. P.S.S - Don't forget to spend the measly $12.00 to join this wonderful world of ....well... we'll leave the ending to your imagination... ...because you can never leave,,,,- 40 replies

Bob.. my zip wasn't accepted either. Let us know what they say about shipping. Bill

Man... that usually only happens when two or more 1st Gens ride by at the same time...

DO NOT start false rumors ! He was just showing them a few techniques to make them faster than a moped. P.S. I think the 2nd Gen was photo shopped in...

Okay.. I pulled the MK1 kick stand. I have the shoulder bolt, the back nut, the spring bracket and the spring. I took pictures and measurements (below). If you need this kick stand, it's yours, let me know. I can air freight it tomorrow. Bill -
What are you seeing ? Ice Cream Cones with pink floppy slippers ?

Post or send me a picture and your measurements. I will go over in the morning and check the match. I'll pull one and bring it home with me just in case. -

I have two 83 parts bikes. If nothing else works for you, you can have one of them if you pay the freight. I can take one off tomorrow and ship on Monday. Brian is a lot closer though....if his will work. -
You're hitting us in the hot time of the year. Northern is best to stay at. Flagstaff area, I think you were already going to the Grand Canyon, but I still highly recommend Zion National Park on the southern border of Utah. About 3 hours/165 miles from Vegas. Then you could drop down to the Canyon area. Sedona Arizona is a BEAUTIFUL place to ride through and stay for a day or two. Google it and check it out.

So ..are you still just staying up north in AZ ? If you come south let me know. Bill

Glad you are OK. I just received the copy of Ride like a Pro III. Uhm.... guess timing was just a little off... I'll be PMing you about a get together to watch the video like we talked about. Again, glad you both are OK. Bill

Well, this Mission is completed. Several incredible things occurred during this Mission. First, it was a humbling honor to ride on Brian's behalf. Also, my daughter, who served with Sgt Walker on their first tour also rode her first Mission with me honoring Brian's sacrifice. Signing the Army flag for the family was also an honor. The next thing that was very impressive was the small the small town respect shown during the escort. Almost every vehicle pulled over to the side of the road and stopped. Some even exited the vehicle and stood tall out of respect. We even had a helicopter escort all the way to the church. Ending with a front dip and a low fly by. But, the most humbling show of respect was two PGR Members that stood at attention outside the church holding the KIA flag and the American flag for over an hour in 100 degree temperatures (wearing black boots !) Rest In Peace Brian. We'll take over from here.

Arizona is a place that almost everybody waveso regardless of type of bike. I wave left hand st anything on 2 wheels. There was a time that I could be riding a BMW K1200lt LT, a KLR 650 , one of two TW200 ' s on any given day . Just because they are riding something at that time doesn't mean they don't have something else in the stable

Thanks guys. So I'm siting in the family's living room talking about all the plans Brian and Ashley had it breaks my heart that they were cut short so fast. I will convey all your kind thoughts and prayers when I can do it and keep my composure. I remember my daughter's Green Ramp and the parents of her 3 fallen Heroes that didnt return. That was hard. This is definately harder.

Got the 89 loaded and ready to leave in 6 hours with the family to attend and funeral and PGR Mission for a friend. Sgt Brian Walker, Military Police , Airborne, gave his life on Mother's Day. Brian was a personal friend and was recently married to my daughter's friend Ashley. Brian and my daughter served together in Afghanistan 2009/2010. It is such an honor to be asked by the wife to serve in the PGR Escort. I hope I can at least ride straight with the blurred vision attack I am sure to have. Brian was a great man, husband, soldier and friend. RIP Sgt Walker, we'll take care of Ashley for you, I know you are pulling double guard duty from above.

If you let her meet the "friends " you have here....she won't be "yours" very long. C'mon you should know better ! Most females are introduced to the people here when they want them, to flee ! P.S. God luck on the new gal

Rear Cylinders dead.
KIC replied to mechanic1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Maybe somebody else can clarify, but my understanding is that if you check the plug wires from the cap to the accessory hot lead in the fuse box it should be 23 - 24 Ohms. The caps themselves should be 10 Ohms. -
I have 2 83 parts bikes too. If you need something let me know.
