    This is something I have thought for a while now; if we live anywhere in North or South America it makes us ALL Americans! I usually refer to my southern neighbors as US citizens, not just Americans. I think it is a little more definitive and fair to our friends in the States.

    To each his own. Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When I ever get in the position to afford a much newer bike I can't see myself buying anything that resembles the styling of a 2nd Gen, regardless of manufacturer. Probably go to a Goldwing or similar design.

    Most of the newer cruiser/touring bikes look more like something out of a si-fi movie. Where's the barf bag? 1st Gen's are what a true classic motorcycle should look like. Guess I just don't like the styling of "modern" bikes.

    I have a seat that came as a spare with the bike. It has been professionally recovered and has extra paddding added to the passenger area to make it level. The seat and armrests are a beige color. I am thinking $70 for the lot. Shipping would be actual costs.

    I agree with what has been said about idiot drivers getting you be it in a cage or on a bike. Park the bike for the winter and see how you feel in the spring. Good luck and may GOD bless you.

    If you like the way the bike looks, that's all that really maters as you will be the one riding it. Personally its not for me. When my 1st Gen dies, I think I will get a machine with more classic styling as I don't care for the "modern" look. Good luck with your new bike and hope you have no regrets.

    The service manager at the dealer told me changing fork oil seals without also changing the dust seals is a waste of time and money. He said they used to change oil seals only for customers to try to save them some money but found the oil leak reappeared every year. They decided to do the dust seals at the same time and found the repair lasted much longer. This was evident on all bikes and not model specific. Hope this info is useful.

    Thanks for all the feedback! I used two 10" extensions on a 3/8 ratchet from underneath to reach the hex head bolts. I found out it was the switch that wouldn't turn to lock. I had to completely disassemble the switch to fix the problem. The switch wasn't even too difficult to reinstall. The steering locks effortlessly now.

    My ignition switch will not turn to the lock position when I try to lock the steering. I know all about pushing down and releasing the key before turning to the lock position as well as having the wheel turned all the way left or right. I am wanting to remove the switch to find out why it is not locking. How do I get at the bolts or screws that hold the switch in? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I've also wondered if the modulator creates a pulsing light for daytime visability, how does this affect the light while riding at night?

    I thought I would let you know a set of Jardine mufflers just sold on ebay for $340. Really shows what kind of deal Condor has got here. I'll have to clear it with the other half before I say yes.

    I have a left saddlebag from an '86 complete with lid and hardware I will sell quite reasonable. Unfortunately, shipping could be as much as the bag.
