Handling Question
Reddog170 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The tires are almost new, the rear still has the stringy nubs and part of the sticker. The problem, sat for 2 1/2 years with both tires flat. Also it does not wiggle, waggle or squiggle or whatever you want to call it under acel or decel only when at speed. -

Had the same problem on my wing. Turned out to be the starter solenoid. Shaun -

Handling Question
Reddog170 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well I will get into looking at bearings and greasing everything I can. I have a friend that has one of Dingy's wrenches so I will get him to help tighten the steering up a bit. Will also pull the rear wheel today so I can really get into things. I would rather get into it all and find nothing wrong then just figure it is the way this bike is and not do anything just to find out it is something to worry about. Shaun -
I have heard of other places having problems with Wild Hogs. But they just let them crash there bikes. LOL:rotf::rotf:

Handling Question
Reddog170 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Dunlop rear, 40psi Centenial front, 45psi. Had to put a different front tire on as the dunlop would not hold air. -
Well I have an odd problem. At speeds over 50 or so the bike seem to have a wiggle in the rear. It is not a lot but kinda acts like a flat rear tire. I have checked air pressure and everything I can think of. It is like I am wiggling the bars. It did not do it so bad that I could not handle it but I do not like it. Any ideas? Thank You, Shaun

Careful, you might give my wife some ideas. LOL. Congrats on the new additions. Don't forget it is in your job description as Grandpa to spoil them. Shaun

Good news. Keeping you in our prayers. Shaun

Dude way cool. You got the first Venture. Any pics of her? Shaun

Now there is some motivation for you. Threaten you with a HD (Huge Disappointment) bike and boom off to work you go. Glad to hear you got her going. Shaun

I am 36, going back to school, tired of factory work and factory pay. I still have a bunch that I am wondering about on this Venture but those questions will come up as I get to them. This really is a great place, Shaun

Cool. Thank You. Someone got me with "PO" right off the bat. Got it figured out but I was lost when it popped up.

I know exactly what that call is like. I got that call about 3 am one morning when my wife had an accident. I am glad to hear she is ok. Also glad to hear that people are willing to stop and help when it is needed most. You have my prayers. Shaun

That is sweet. Nice work there. Shaun

I keep seeing "2 up" and thought it was referring to 2nd gear but not thinking so any more. Can someone explain this to me. Thank You. Shaun

Got a few problems
Reddog170 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Will measure the windshield in a bit. I bypassed the anti-dive valve thing, front brake works great now. Will do the same on the other side of the front. Looks like I will need the block off plates now. Shaun -
Got a few problems
Reddog170 replied to Reddog170's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The pedal still goes all the way down with min pressure. The front lever feels firm but cam be squeezed to the bar. They slow me down, but need a loooong time to stop. Not sure if an 83 and an 86 windshield are interchangeable. Shaun -
Hmmm no lifting the front tire, done it. No speeds over 30 mph over the limit, I plead the 5th on that, no breaking traction, well I better stay home this next winter. Shaun
-
Well as of yesterday I have had my 83 on the road. I have a few problems that need adressed. The first is the @#$% brakes. They stink. I went through and rebled them and now they are worse. I know I am missing something here but when you cant stop 900 lbs rolling down the road you have a problem. The second is the cooling fan, why does it wait until the gauge is at the red before it will come on? Third is it is running rich, smells like gas when you start it and as long as it idles you can smell it. After you ride for a while it clears up, why? Fourth is there a taller windshield for the early MK1's? The top edge is right at eye level. Other than the brakes these are minor problems. Thank you for all the help. Shaun

Just curious, How many Wing Riders do we have on the site?
Reddog170 replied to Midrsv's topic in Honda Goldwing Tech Talk
