    BMW's

You said you wouldn't hesitate to help out a BMW driver broken down with his scoot. You should know Brent that BMW's don't break down, at least that's what they'll probably tell you, lol. To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen a BMW broke down alone the road. There's only one bike that holds that title. :whistling:Anyway, I sometimes wonder if I'd change if I could afford a 25-30 thousand dollar bike. But like everybody said, it's not the bike, its the driver! ! !..........just my worth .
  2. Yes, a special Happy Thanksgiving to all our men and women in the service that protect our freedom over here allowing us to have a Happy Thanksgiving. But a PGR mission coming up, and our fallen hero will have a Happy Thanksgiving, knowing that he is in Gods house now. I pray that his family and friends get through this grieving time, that the Lords hand will make it a little easier.
  3. And a Happy Thanksgiving to everybody in web-site land; biggest turkey I ever cooked was 26 lbs., those days are over with. Got a 5 lb.der this time. That's the only thing your not happy about afterwards is the weight you've gained after the holidays. So all kidding aside, everybody have a happy turkey day, and maybe a good size dinner will help fight off the cold I got for this holiday.
  4. Just replace the stock ones on either side of my 99RSV.
  5. I guess you missed the 24,000 miles I got out of my Dunlop D404's, but their made with a softer rubber now, so you only get 8 to 9,000 miles out of them. Too bad you have to pay a sticky price for a sticky tire now that only gives me 1/3rd the wear than I use to get.
  6. Hey Brad and Lonna, you didn't even have to put your pic on the site because you've been around the states just about more than anybody here, so everybody knows those faces already, good pic anyway, don't know if I have one worth putting on here?? I know my avatar is probably a little too small to see. Whoops, I got the pictures reversed, but sort of did a Black Owl, the now picture, (but took off the beard), and the pic of me when I bought my 83 Venture brand new, my hair still has a little color, lol.
  7. I try to use English, something people will understand, just jokin:rotf:, but putting a little extra thought into it as you explained, that probably says it all.
  8. Your right M, that's what I've been trying to tell people!
  9. My names not on the list Don. Ordered 3 bells of which I sent in payment with PayPal on Nov. 2nd. Remember I called you with the miss-understanding of how much more per bell to be shipped, so I payed a little more than needed, and told you to put it in the kitty, and you said you received my PayPal payment. Thanks again, Richard Elliott
  10. The old Dunlop D404 went 24,000 miles on my 99RSV, then they made the new Dunlop D404 and I got 8,500 miles on it. And I'll stop right there as I've told this story many times on the web site, but nobody ever takes any interest.
  11. The front wheel shakes to let you know the bike will fall apart a few thousand miles down the road. :rotf:
  12. That seem to be one of the first things that came up with the 2nd gen., (power). When I went to my first Street Vibartions up in Reno, I ran into three other guys that owned RSV's, and they told me what to do, and I'll pick up 12 more horsepower. $85.00 for K&N's, $389 for Baron Nasty Boys, and no rejetting. I noticed the difference in power right off the bat, and picked up between 2 & 3 more mpg., no re-jetting involved. That was 70,000 miles ago, and the bikes been running great. The Nasty Boys, which I guess they don't make any more, are a little on the noisy side, but I learned to live with them by using ear plugs. Not as loud as the 4x2's, so no problem listening to the radio, and I'm satisfied with the power. My 83 Venture being 750 lbs. and the 99RSV being 870, for 120 lbs. heavier, I think the 99 does pretty well. If you have to go any faster, then this is the wrong bike for you!
  13. I never locked up my brakes on the 83, the paportioning valve was the best thing ever, especially in the twisties. The only time I used the hand brake for the other front disk, is when I know I had to bring the bike to a stop fast. When I first bought the 2nd gen, I almost lost control when I applied the front brake a little too hard and it locked up. The same thing happen when I hit the rear brake by itself, it locked up, and I started slideing sideways. So I had to train myself all over again with this change on the 2nd gen.
  14. Condor, I thought that was the best braking system, and myself; would like to know why they got rid of it when they brought out the second gen.

    Veterans Day

Here's a pic our ride captain took at the Veteran's Day Parade of me in Fresno, and I didn't even know. She just sent it, and said she put it in the PGR Forum of Fresno as she thought that was one of the better pictures of the PGR lining up for the parade.http://thumbp2.mail.mud.yahoo.com/tn?sid=1092753161&mid=AN5Vv9EAAItuRzjeTQBTHWrFw4Q&partid=2&f=823&fid=Jokes
  16. I only put about 3 5/8ths quarts in now.

    Veterans Day

http://thumbp2.mail.mud.yahoo.com/tn?sid=1092753161&mid=AOVVv9EAAOylRzd3Pw5qG3T6tmA&partid=2&f=823&fid=Helded e-mails I really don't know how to put pictures on here from an e-mail,(got lucky here) but was just wondering how many members rode in Veteran's Day Parade's. The pic here is Veteran's Day Parade in Pleasanton, Ca with 33 bikes, and I rode in the VDP in Fresno yesterday. It's the largest parade on the west coast, but because of the bad weather getting there, instead of 50+ bikes, we still got a respectable 31 bikes. The parade is suppose to be televised several times on Comcast, ch14 so I've been told. I don't have comcast, but I'll put a couple of more pics I took of the Fresno parade that I downloaded into the computer, these pics come a little easier. :whistling:Took pic from garage roof looking down on us in our staging area before the parade. Hummm, meant to put this up as a new thread and blew that also, darn!
  18. Got 36k on my first clutch, (99RSV), got 40k on the second clutch. Was kind of surprised that it went that fast as I normally got 80k plus with a car clutch, got 52k on my 1st clutch with my 83 Venture. But it all depends on how you drive it, so good luck. When you power the bike on in 4th or 5th, and you start to hear the engine reving up, then its time to replace the clutch.
  19. Before long, you won't be able to talk on a cell phone in the car. With our luck, you might not be able to talk on a hand held mic also, big safety issue???
  20. I stick to stock; I've tried to buy some things that everybody says is better, and gottin myself into trouble. You can but what you think is better, and still have problems along the way. My first battery and voltage regulator on my 99 RSV went bad after 3 1/2 years because the stator was pumping out 16.8 volts and fried everything. All of this was replaced under warranty, and that was 3 1/2 years ago . Hummm, I wonder if I'm running on barrowed time? Now that I've brought it up, I'll be worrying about it till I get through the Veterans Day Parade I'm in at Fresno. I guess I'll try to keep a positive mind. Let's hope that positive works for rain too, going to be a question mark about that time. Just got through with the VDP in Pleasanton yesterday.
  21. And a happy 40th also Jack, mine is right around the corner
  22. I don't know if they have anything like this around (maybe somewhere near Sacramento Sherry), but I found out about this place from one of the guys I rode with, and all it deals with is selling motorcycles on concession. This is where I took my 83, and when the guy told me the price he was going to put on the windshield, I said no way. But a young guy kept on coming in and looking at it (so I was told), and he offered one hundred dollars less than was being asked, and I took it. Never thought I would get that much for the bike. It was 16 1/2 years old with 106,000 on it, but it was very clean, and I guess that's what sold the bike. If you want, I should be able to find out the name and phone number of this place since it's been a long time since I sold my bike.
  23. till they passed the law. My 83 Venture for about 2 1/2 years collected more dust from sitting than me riding it when they did. This is just one of the questions Sherry that approachs us all the time about wearing a helmet. Yes, sometimes it doesn't matter, and people like your Tom do not make it. I guess you can say I sort of feel naked without it now, but I still like taking it off when I hit Arizona that doesn't have a helmet law. What really makes me keep it on though is the speakers in the helmet that I listen to the radio with, and I also use the CB radio. So for now, I guess I'll just keep it on unless the helmet law is ever reversed; have a great day Sherry.
  24. The only parts that broke off and I had to pick up and fix were the ones the dealer broke every time I took my 83 in for work I couldn't do. It finally came to where I took the bike in completely stripped so they wouldn't end up breaking something when they tried to take it off or put it back on.
  25. Your first e-mail says $12.00 per bell, and $1.80 per bell. I guess you meant $1.80 per order of x amount of bells?? Okay folks, we got a handle on it now, right?
