  1. I was not trying to highjack this thread. I kind of thought the question I asked was an add-on, but perhaps I should have just started a new thread. Oh well, next time.
  2. Old time California dept of forestry firefighter and engineer. Rough place to serve but very active and HOT.
  3. I think the members have solved the mystery, but before we move one I have one more question here. What is the top speed you get on a second gen in 4th gear before she floats out? Feel free to discuss what you can do in third also.
  4. So far I have not come across anyone who has a 2011. But you can make a heck of a good deal on a 2010 and you cannot find one item of difference except maybe, possibly, kind of, sort a difference in the logo on the tank-------------maybe, not sure.
  5. Ooooooooooooooh, the other day I ate a banana split with all the topping made, hauled out in a wheel barrow, well almost a wheel barrow. I think I've been living up to those expectations.
  6. I once new a gal with butterflies on her bra but-------awh never mind.
  7. I've carried two in my 8 wide but wheel wells make it barley a 7 up forward in the cargo area. You've got to stagger the two a little. I have a 17 foot cargo area so not a problem.

    Will it fit?

Its gonna be tight and you may not be happy. You'll end up with doing real contortions trying to get the tie downs tied down even if the the bikes do fit. Go wider or go a couple longer is my humble suggestion. One other thing, single axle and you don't need brakes by law, but---- two bikes and the trailer weight you may not be too happy about no trailer brakes. gee, decisions decisions.
  9. Great information here on this thread. If I had to pick one thing that I was allowed to teach a new rider it would be, always stay visible to those coming toward you and to anyone you are behind. Keep yourself in the drivers mirror for as long as you can when passing, run your high-beam during the day, and stay way in the left track of your lane when approaching any intersection so the guy who may want to turn left can see you, and don't don't don't ever tailgate since that makes you a hidden object! If you are following someone drop back some at all intersections. Again, stay visible.
  10. Great photos but would scare the crap out of anyone that looks at them. I've owned two of the 1800's and never again but lots of people love them, even with having to spend hours in Tupperware removal and replace. Thanks for the photos.
  11. I can only speak for second gen owners since I've never had a first gen. Anyhow, I really believe anyone that has a second gen that has been taken care of should be able to take off on a 20,000 mile trip and do nothing but worry about where your going to get a second set of tires on the trip and a couple three oil changes. A 100K on these bikes is not really high mileage. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.
  12. I'm sure all you vets out there are shaking in your boots. I know I am. yeah sure.
  13. I'd leave in a heart beat. But let me change my oil before I go.
  14. OK, let me say this about that. Lets put a practical perspective on this front and back subject. If eat a quart of egg salad, that would go in the front, normally. And then you fart, where the oder emanates from would be the BACK. Does that clear things up any.
  15. I respect their way of life but same goes for both, mess with my way of life and what I want to do you gonna get hurt. End of my comments. This still the US, at least for now.
  16. You really let your wife ride with you? Say what? Don't you know wives really prefer convertible sports cars! Their own of course and they really prefer to profile without you in the front seat. So sir, she has her ride, you have yours and the wind is now a moot point. :crackup:Well OK then, it works for me anyhow:clap2:
  17. I wanted to go too I hear the wind sucked up there. Maybe some of you bums can meet me in Springfield for lunch next week. Maybe maybe maybe.
  18. Nice pick for an upgrade for your son. Great bikes!
  19. Was I supposed to take one of those tests? Nobody told me I was supposed to. Am I in trouble with the law now? They didn't have tests when I started and they just gave me one of them add ons one time years later. And besides, I make it a rule never to take tests. If you don't take one then you can't fail one. Doah! Life can be so simple if you work it right.
  20. Run run run!!!. But leave the women in case your wrong and I'll stay here and uuuuh errrrr, well you know, look after them for you.
  21. Very sorry to hear this. Get well soon. Remember plenty of fluids, like Jack, Jose` and Capt Morgans always helps.
  22. I've installed two of these J&M models before. I think the price is reasonable and you should be about to put one in including the antenna in about two hours. They are really easy and work well. OH yes, you can even run your mp-3 player sound through them too.
  23. Do all y'all know how much we're gonna spend at the super market now trying to buy all these ingredients? And you can't get all those Wisconsin cheeses down here so our Wisconsin members better be ready to do some shopping and shipping:thumbsup2:
  24. Uuuuuuh I knew that. I guess the answer that was made, "don't do nothing until you get a trailer" would be the correct one then. I'll go back under my rock now------
  25. Do a search and find a shoe company that carries "Propet" brand. I love them and others that have tried them do too. Super light, Zip up sides, nice fitting boots and wear like iron. Goretec dry and warm but breath. Price will be close to what you want to pay just shop it. Excellent biker boot and dry.
