  1. Hard to tell. Almost sounds like a short of some kind or perhaps the battery is dying. If you decide to boost it with the car be absolutely certain the car's motor is turned off before hooking up to your bike battery. While they are both 12 volts, the car puts out a lot more amps than does you bike's system. You could damage something. If you make a lot of short trips, that could run the battery down. You should put it on the tender every time to make sure you always start with a full charge. And of course, it would be a good idea to have the battery load tested as it may be the problem. Good luck! Andy
  2. Took off a bit earlier than usual today on my RSV and the temps were a bit low (Around 52 F.). Anyway after about 3 or 4 miles, I passed a cage and decided to distance myself from it quickly. So I cranked on some throttle at about 125 kph (about 78 mph) in 4th (Well, a pretty hard crank!) and the engine revved with little acceleration! Clutch slip!! I eased off then ran it more easily to around 140 kph (About 87mph) and shifted into 5th. I then gave it a good shot of throttle and, sure enough, it slipped again. On the way back, I ran it to 120 kph and when I cranked the throttle in 4th there was either no clutch slip or so little that I couldn't detect it. Now I have read the posts regarding the weak clutch spring and adding a plate, but this slipping when barely warmed up and not slipping when fully warmed up kind of throws me. Am I dealing with just a weak spring or is something else going on here? Any ideas? Andy
  3. ... at least up here in the Great White North (or Brrrrrrrr! for short!), that the CanAm folks are working on a leaning front suspension for 2013 or 2014. If anyone else does a test ride, how about asking them about this. Actually, there is a company from Montreal, PQ (Province of Quebec) that has a trike package with a leaning rear suspension right now. They had some demo models at the big International Toronto Bike Show at the beginning of last January. Should make for some interesting cornering! Andy
  4. Your bike has bumpers? Wow...more chrome! Do they hurt the handling at all? Andy
  5. Better yet, get a battery tender of some type. It will keep the battery charged at all times and avoid overcharging it. That way you just plug it in when you park the bike and unplug when it's time to go. Oh yeah...many tenders require that you unplug from the wall outlet before unplugging from the bike, otherwise the tender can be damaged. I've been using a couple for my bikes for years now and I always have a fully charged battery...nice when the temps drop down near freezing! The batteries seem to last longer as well. Andy
  6. Yep. What I noticed after getting my RSV was that it felt lighter than the Royale even though it was heavier. While still top heavy, the centre of gravity on the RSV seems to be a bit lower than that of the Royale. Then again, my RSV has a lowering kit so that might have an effect as well. Andy
  7. Tire wear? Steering head bearing wear? All the beer went to one side of the stomach? Andy
  8. According to Bikez.com, the Cavalcade weighs 754 lb dry and 823 lbs ready to roll. The RSV is 805 dry and 869 ready to roll. Now, of course, once the safety chrome is on and the back rest and extra lights and... Andy
  9. When I was looking for heated clothing last year (It does get a wee bit cool in the Fall hereabouts!) I checked the ratings for some gloves, socks and vests. Those with battery power always had the absolute lowest ratings for any use other than hiking ... when your own body generates a fair amount of heat anyway...you just need well insulated clothing. I would be very suspicious of a battery heated jacket...it just doesn't seem likely that the amount of heat generated would be of much use...especially after checking out Flyin"s figures. Andy
  10. Are you sure your question is less suggestive? :rotf::rotf::rotf: Andy

Out of curiosity, I looked up his site and checked out the details of the "wing". Here are the listed performance figures (I added the conversion from metric): PERFORMANCE Speed - Average 200 km/h (125 mph) - At Ascent 180 km/h (112 mph) - On Descent 300 km/h (188 mph) Climb 330 m/min (1,072 ft. / min.) Flight time 10 minutes I would be scared to death to do it but would give anything to try it! Jeez, what a blast!! Andy
  12. OK, gotcha. Neat tool...and just when I needed it too! Thanks!! Andy
  13. Oh, that Spyder! Yeah, those were neat little cars. Don't see many of them around here these days. Been a while since they stopped making them, hasn't it? Andy
  14. Anyone know what the heck a "Toyota Spider" is? Could he have meant a CanAm Spyder? Andy
  15. Looks like something I could use! Any pics of it "in action"? Andy
  16. Isn't that the new Harley Sporster? Andy
  17. Well...I do have a 20lb sledge.... Andy
  18. That's what I was doing but it kept tightening up in the same position. However I will check that tech article. Thanks for the info. Andy
  19. My RSV has the Yamaha passing lights. Presently they are aimed to converge on the ground about 20 feet in front of the bike. Not really useful at night. I tried to aim them further down the road, but I'm having a problem. While it's easy to rotate them side to side, I can't find a way to adjust them "up and down" so that they are aimed further down the road. I was going to check the headlight aiming point and aim them just below that to light up the road without blinding oncoming traffic, but I can't find a way to adjust them "up and down". Am I missing something or is this how they are supposed to work? Andy
  20. Very happy to hear that you and your son are OK. Situations like that can be real hair whiteners. Also nice to know there are still good people out there who are willing to help. Andy
  21. Far less likely on a shaft drive bike, but not unheard of...wheels not lined up properly? Unless of course, it's a recent thing...in which case...never mind! Andy
  22. Wait! Wait! Don't leave us hanging! What are you going to do in the meantime? Andy
  23. Kelly Blue Book for Canada says $6,848 to $8,560 ... the top value being reserved for "extra clean" machines (Low mileage, verifiable service records, looks like new, etc.). Their values do not take into account any added on extras - chrome, backrests, etc.) . There are two in Ontario on Auto Trader right now .. both 2003. One has 111,000 km and they're asking $7,995 and the other has 33,000 km and they're asking $9.795. Both are at dealerships. Of course, at the end of the day, it depends on what the seller is willing to accept and the buyer is willing to pay. Hope this helps Andy
  24. I tried wearing blue tights and a shirt with a red "S" on it and I still couldn't lift it myself. And then the Harley guys chased me out of town! Andy
  25. I went to a set of Halogen 30 Watt bulbs. Brighter than the originals without overtaxing the electrical system. Andy
