  3. Young Paddy, moved to Kent and bought a Donkey from a farmer for £100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the Donkey the next day. The next day he drove up and said, 'Sorry son, but I have some bad news, the donkey died.' Paddy replied, 'Well, then just give me my money back.' The farmer said, 'Can't do that. I went and spent it already.' Paddy said, 'Ok, then, just bring me the dead donkey.' The farmer asked, 'What are ya gonna do with him? Paddy said, 'I'm going to raffle him off.' The farmer said, 'You can't raffle off a dead donkey!' Paddy said, 'Sure I can. Watch me.. I just won't tell anybody he's dead.' A month later, the farmer met up with Paddy and asked, 'What happened with that dead donkey?' Paddy said, 'I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two quid a piece and made a profit of £898.00.' The farmer said, 'Didn't anyone complain?' Paddy said, 'Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two quid back.' Paddy now works for the British Government.
  4. Rand McNally trip maker. Lets you custom design your own itinery.choose type of route scenic or otherwise
  5. When using starting fluid (ether) on small tires use a small amount, too much on a small trailer tire creates a vacume inside the tire when it extinguishes and will suck it right back off the bead as quick as it pops it on . Way too much and you will see ufo reports in tomorrows paper . I have done this on all size tires from transport tires down to those little trailer tiresfor over thirty years a moderate amount based on the tire size is all you need and i ignite it by simply droppining a lit match on it. However always realize the potential for harm is always there so be carefull, if not sure of what your doing dont do it.i once saw a guy think it was good idea to lay a wet trail on the floor towards the tire and managed to ignite his beard.

  11. I was drilling tool steel one time while fabricating something and ran out of kool tool and in desparation I grabbed a neardy can wd 40 and used it as a substitute. Would you believe it it worked better then kool tool. The drills cut better and faster and I only had to sharpen them half as often since then it has been my number one cutting and honing oil.

  18. I was just going through the maint. section and reading all the good info there. Your article on clutch slip was really good but you metioned how it was strange that the the clutch would slip in high gear and not in low gear. This is actually is not strange at all as the higher you go up the gear pattern the more load there is placed on the clutch. In transport trucks drivers will often complain that there clutch is slipping on hill climbs we verify this in the shop by placing the transmission in its highest gear then gently let the clutch out. This will either cause the clutch to slip or stall the engine. If we did this in low gear even a clutch that is starting to slip would tear out the driveline unless it was slipping really bad. One thing we really have to watch is as the engines come with higher horse power the force on the driveline increases. wouldn't want to explain that one to a customer. hope you dont tak take this the wrong way and as always keep up the great work.
  19. I do believe there are valid points on both sides of this discussion , yes it is good to be seen , and true also blinding someone to the point that they close there eyes or divert them from the road ahead in itself can be dangerous (true it may only be that 1% but Usually its that 1%er that gets you ), not to mention the fact that one can get charged for not turning high beams down to aproaching traffic ( which in some places such as Ontario it is a chargable offense). Perhaps a good compromise would be a farm tractor type flood light. rather than throw a bright narrow focused beam, it throughs a wide flood of light which would be very visible form any angle without blinding oncoming traffic. just a possible suggestion.
  20. yup better put a telephoto lense on it :dancefool:
  21. I used a relay and separate fuse as well . but I used power from the high beam to control the positive side of the relay so they would go off and on with my high beams and rather then run the negative side directly to ground ,I placed a separate switch on the relay ground wire . This way by switching the ground off and on I can turn them off independently of the high beams if need be
  22. Carb sync would be good even if i only get to see it done do to time and then i can do my own when i get home again . also non drinking volunteers to walk behind me and carry extra beer since I can only hold 2
  23. I was going to ask if you had any edible ones but remembering your pension for eating I suddenly realized you probably alrready devoured all of those
  24. these are all good suggestions in the case of the first one I agree but I prefer to go a step further. Remove the wheel hubs and bearings from the axle and measure from the end of each axle end to make sure it is centered to the body. Then measure from the center of each spindle end to the center of the hitch, the measurement should be the same on each side, the reason I prefer to do this with the hobs off is because it is more accurate then by checking with the wheels and hub on and it is a good time to check and repack your bearings while you have it apart. also check all fastners and u-bolts to make sure they are secure, and your axle is not moving around.
  25. Tongue wieght is a common cause but so is weight distribution load heavy items down low and light bulky items on top.A trailer that is too top heavy is as dangerous as one that does not have enough tongue weight. PS I prefer to substitute extra drinks in place of the ice:thumbsup:
