Congratulations on joining the best m/c website and group around. Nothing but love and admiration here for our members. Great looking Star you have, you will fit right in with all the other talented people we have. If it needs to be done, someone here can do it, it they think it can be done, they will die tryiing.........But be warned this place is as addictive as chocolate, so dont be surprised when you find yourself on the site for hours at a time, and cant pull yourself away from it. Be sure to get out to a meet & eat near you, or make a rally and meet some of the greatest people, and put faces with names, I have been a member since 2004, when the group was very, very small. It just keeps getting better and better. Again, Welcome to VR.

Bill, I hate to admit it, but since I got the Venture back together, I havent ridden the 1300 at all..........I am falling in love with the Venture all over again, thought I might be forced to sell it, after riding a couple of other 1st gens, they felt awkward and heavy, they werent 83's, and they didnt ride and handle like mine at all.............the 83's are the best of the 1st gens in every aspect, why they made those changes I will never understand.

Rear foot rest interchange 88 to 83
DragonRider replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I bought a set of passenger floorboards for a 2007 G/W, from a trike conversion shop, fitted them to my 83, just had to drill some new holes to mount them to existing mounting plate for rear passenger pegs and some longer bolts, and look good and wife loved them when she was till riding........... -

On the way home from work the other day, I started hearing an unusual sound coming from somewhere behind the side cover, it sounded like a vacuum hose leak, but I couldnt find it, I forgot about it till today, I took the bike to work and heard it again, but this time I noticed that the power was down and it didnt kick in till about 3500 RPM, then it ran like usual. So when I got home today I started taking plastic off, I am pretty good at this now......,first the side covers, started engine, couldnt find it, then pulled tank cover, air breather box all the way down to the carbs, still couldnt find it. So I found me a piece of hose and put it to my ear and started searching............BINGO!! found it real quick, I was very lucky, it was the choke mechanism, it was hanging by the clip that engages the carbs all three screws had vibrated out..............I couldnt believe it didnt fall off, and the gasket was still there too, because it came off very easily in my hand. Now, next trick find some screws that fit, cause I couldnt find the ones that came out, just happened to have some allen head screws that fit, but it was very tight getting them in there, took me about an hour to tighten the screws about 1/8 turn at a time........Oh, did I mention the engine was still HOT!!! By the way, this is on my 1st Gen. All is well now, she runs better that before, hope nothing else crops up, I want to ride it, not keep working on it.............

Will let you know, need to come up with some items to auction............we will see. -
Being from S. Louisiana, we did a lot of cane pole fishing as kids, and my dad would first tie it real secure around midway then midway of that to the tip, and finally to the tip, and that would leave about 10-12 feet from tip to hook. This always worked for us, and cant ever remember having a fish break one..........hope this helps ya.

This is for all those that participated in any of these events, either by attending or making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I have received a large number of items for our participation in Crusin' for St. Jude. Here is a list of what I received. These are not the same design as last years items, they change them yearly, so you wont have a duplicate to last years items if you have them. I couldn't take a decent picture of the pin, but it is the same design as the logo on the shirt and hat. 12 Hats 20 Pins-----(pin size is 1 3/4 x 3/4) 10 Med. T-Shirts 8 Large T-Shirts 12 X-Large T-Shirts 7 XX-Large T-Shirts 3 XXX-Large T-Shirts Last year we had an auction to raise funds for St. Jude and we were very successful in doing so. Our Grand total was $3,450.00 and we hope to do better next year. But this year I am going to offer these items up to the folks who helped make this possible. So if you would like to have one of these items, all I am asking you to do is cover the shipping to get it to you. Thats it, just the shipping charges. I prefer to use USPS Priority mail, it is the easiest and fastest way to get them to you. So if you want a hat or a t-shirt and use pay-pal for making your payment and it is shipping to a domestic address in the U.S. the shipping charge will be $6.00. If you want a pin I will send those by regular mail and that shipping charge will be $1.00. Shirt or hat to Canada will be slightly higher, $8.00 and the pin will be $2.00. These will be available on a first come basis. And I would like to limit it to 1 item per person so there will be enough to go around. Thats it folks, we had another great year. If there are any extras left over after the smoke clears I will make them available to everyone, but I dont expect there to be any, I didnt have any left over from last years effort. So dont delay. My PayPal address is...............partin_guy@yahoo.com If you would like to use snail mail to pay me, send me a pm and I will give you my mailing address. Thanks again for all the support VR members give in supporting St. Jude Children's Hospital..................:clap2::clap2: Here are the shipping charges again. U.S. Shipping via USPS priority mail. Hats and Shirts.............................$6.00 Pins via 1st class mail...................$1.00 Canada shipping............................... Hats and Shirts..............................$8.00 Pins.......................................................$2.00
