were you passing a 2nd gen on the right?

I am currently running a CT, it is not for everyone, nor would I recommend it to everyone. I wanted to try it, so I did. So far, my experience has been positive. The bike does handle differently, like riding on my stock bridgestone after it was worn out. Riding in the rain, is different than riding in fair weather. Riding in the winter is different than riding in the summer. Riding at night is different than riding during the day. etc. etc. etc. Riding with a C/T is different than riding with a M/T. It is my freedom of choice, and I agree with the message that Freebird it trying to get across..... "just be informed before you choose."

I am happy with my bike. 1st gear is where it needs to be, I use 5th over 65mph. I have plenty of power at the rear wheel, when I need it. Fuel mileage is not bad for a touring bike ( I get 42-45 mpg ) my friend with an Ultra-Classin is getting 38 mpg. I have owned fuel injected bikes, this bike still uses carbs, I dont notice that big a difference. The venture has a cassette player ( with a cd changer and an ipod available ). The bike has a FIVE (5 !!) year warranty (wow!!). It has proven itself as a solid reliable model bike. ( I hate the idea of spending 2 days riding, 1 day fixing. ) Thank you Yamaha for making a bike that is tough as nails, and standing behind that bike with a warranty unmatched in the motorcycle world! However, stop marking up the price every year, for the same bike. If you want to charge customers more, give us more. MORE power with a V-max fuel injected engine, MORE room with larger saddle bags, MORE options- stronger engine guard to better support highway pegs. MORE comfort in the seats.

Local Dealer mounted the tires, rear tire popped in place at 60'ish psi, well lubed with rim highly polished Ran the interstate awhile no wobble, had it up to 85mph. Rode home about 65 miles..... I am pleased with the mod. not for everyone, but is working for me!!

What other alternative is there to the Kuhmo ? Is the Kuhmo the only C/T that gives a wobble? I drove to Lancaster Ohio this week, and got a Kuhmo from America's Tire, they have 3 more in stock.... now... need to get it mounted.

Welcome to the site, nice bike!

many work based on a magnet, they detect the metal in the vehicle.... I have put the bike in neutral and put my kick stand down.... seems to work for me, I have also talked with people that place the commercially available magnet thing... they seem to like it. Rick.

Will take 3 to 7 more days for regular utility services to be restored to our area.

:shock3:Both bikes are faster than anyone has ever posted on this site..... for instance, just sitting in the garage they are moving at approximately 2,724,666 MPH. ( And here is the math to back it up): As you move toward the poles that number decreases. At the north pole the speed is zero and you are simply rotating in place at one rotation every 24 hours. So let’s assume you are sitting somewhere in South Florida moving at about 1,000 miles per hour or 1,610 KPH. The Earth is also making one orbit around the sun every year. That sounds like a long time, but the orbit is huge. The Earth is roughly 93 million miles (150 million km) away from the sun, giving its orbit a circumference of 584 million miles (942 million km). That works out to 66,666 MPH or 107,000 KPH. If you are on the side of the planet where the planet’s rotation is moving in the same direction as the orbital direction, these two speeds add together. If you are on the opposite side, they subtract. We are trying to calculate a maximum speed, so we will be adding. Our solar system itself is also moving in an orbit around the galactic core. The solar system is something like 25,000 light years away from the center of the galaxy, and the galaxy makes one rotation every 250 million years or so. That gives the solar system a speed of something like 420,000 MPH or 675,000 KPH. So there is speculation that the galaxy is moving through the universe at a speed of 1,000 km/s, which means 3,600,000 KPH or 2,237,000 MPH. Adding it all up, you get: 1000 + 66,666 + 420,000 + 2,237,000 = 2,724,666 MPH :shock3: Doppler shift= Red is moving away, Blue is moving toward you. Therefore--- Red is faster, just like my second Gen RSTD

For those who ride in 100 + temps ..... what gear do you use to protect you from the sun and heat ?

Personally, if I am on a trip... and I am recording my trip.... I dont want to wait a few days for my camera to be sent to the Lab, a few months for them to process it, and a few weeks to get it back to me. I ride the interstates, I do use my gopro, that does not give anyone a right to take it and deprive me of it's use for the rest of the riding season.

Best $1.00 I spend a month!! There are good people on this site, most are willing to go out of their way to help another member. Don had a great idea when starting this site, I doubt he actually makes much profit for it.... but if he is making a hefty profit, good for him. If you stay around you will also meet good people, who are willing to help keep you on the road, offer a place for you to stay, loan you tools give you a tow if you need one. OR if you want to pay $12. and Lurk around for some time, start your own site, charge a fee and make millions... I am sure Don would share his knowledge to help you start a site for the Honda CB's. Best of Luck, KC8KFL

Different REAR tire sizes ???
CalhounWV replied to Miles's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I need new tires, got 5,500 out of my stock brickstones, and 8,200 out of the E-3's. I may go to the Darkside and run a Kuhmo Powerstar. -
I have rode fuel injected bikes.... personally I dont mind pulling out the choke, then pushing it back in. Keep in mind..... no other bike carries a warranty like the Venture. Far as the tape player.... I dont use CD's, I have it all on an mp3 player. Only complaint I have is ...... BRING BACK THE RSTD in the line-up !!!!!

Goose, good to have you back. Rick.

I pulled in to a campground once, I saw a couple getting off their bike and could not help but to stare.... I know it was rude, but.... she was wearing a leather halter, and chaps. Only. He only had chaps on. Both did smile and waive.

Taking the MSF course is the best advice, my wife started riding her own... make me nervous for her. She is a great rider, but I do worry about the idiots that may endanger her. I would recommend you let him pick out a bike he will ride, and be comfortable on. Anyone can ride any bike like a fool. Instead of steering him to a bike he may or may not find enjoyable to ride..... be the good role model and make him ride with people who will teach him good habits from the start. Ride Safe, Rick.

I always wear a helmet,( 3/4 or 1/2) over the ankle foot wear, long pants, riding gloves, and long sleeve shirt.... I also heavily support a riders right to choose what he/she wears or does not wear.

I am at the wear bars on my E-3's. Have 8,000 miles on these tires, going to try the Michelin Commander II next. I spoke with Michelin, they said I could put a Commander on the front, and Commander 2 on the rear, as long as I keep them both bias, would not be a problem.

Prayers needed...
CalhounWV replied to Skid's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Prayers sent Skid, if you need anything, call. -
I am happy with Dunlop Elite III's. Original Bridgestones, I got 5,500 miles from. Looks I am going to get 10,000 or so with the E3's. Next, I will try the Michelin Commander on the front, and a Michelin Commander II on the rear. hoping for that 15,000 mile mark.
