  1. That's huntin season for me, I will be deep in the Lincoln National Forest stalking bambi during that week in Nov. I read about the Big Bend meet it sounds like a great time and if it happens again next year and I don't draw for Elk or Deer I will be there.
  2. I've been here for just a short time, I joined because really 12.00 is not alot of money to find out if I fit in here, I may not, I live a long ways from most of the members on this forum and I sometimes feel like an outsider because of that, But Im not skeered.
  3. Thanks, what Im getting from the Syn oil is more clutch whine, and a little bit of surge on the bike when I put it in gear when its hot. The temp in town has gone up since I put the synthetic in it also. I will try the 20-50 and see what I get, but Im going back to dino oil, I don't like the synthetic.
  4. Ran 20-50 dino oil in their older motor (79,000 plus) on a first gen. If you have what were the results? The weather is freakin hot down here, I don't think the 10-40 syn is cutting it.
  5. I ride an 85 brownie, I keep the front set to 10 and the rear to 40,dampner on 2 or 3.I agree completely with keeping your tire pressure up on the upper end of recommended. I'm not small but not big either, 6 foot 185, The bike handles pretty good at speed I have a stock windshield , I just came down out of the mountians here and did about 20 miles in the rain, I have to duck just a little or what comes over the top hits me in the eyes. I wear a soft cover to ride in and it stays on my head where it belongs, no buffeting to speak of. Post pics of your bike if you get the chance.
  6. Really Pretty Bike,Congrats !
  7. I ride with one all the time, My brother rides 1990 Voyager XII, its a nice bike, I actually looked at one before buying the venture but chose the venture based on the fairing, the voyager has a huge fairing.
  8. Not just anyone could get away with that this early in the Morning.
  9. This bike is only 3 hours from me, The price is good, but I have to wonder what a serious buyer is? Is that a buyer that never smiles or what?
  10. Green as opposed to the new pink stuff that is in most new cars.
  11. Lots of lights! http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c177/Touched1/PICT0010.jpg
  12. In the spirit of this thread, On todays ride, 140 miles round trip I encountered about 40 other riders, I waved to each as we passed, all but three waved back, those three were on harley's wearing colors I won't mention here. at any rate it was a friendly day, hot in the valley cool in the mountains, the burgers were good, but my brother drove me nuts! He kept trying to catch up with me on his voyager, He should know better by now:smile5:
  13. Time heals all things, We have had no kids in the house for 12 years, Let me put it like this (learn do your own laundry ) don't combine it because one of you will go through your clean clothes quicker than the other. Cook for 4, leftovers seldom make it through the night. Do some things away from each other, to much time together with no distractions will reveal all kinds of little pet peeve personality traits that neither of you knew existed. otherwise nothing much changes. Except maybe a real strong desire to sit around the house in your undies every morning but that usually goes away after a couple of years.
  14. Awww man sport bikes !! do we have to wave to those guys? we have a big contingent of sport riders here (German Air force) they all ride the crotch rockets, I always wave to them. and guess what they always wave back.
  15. Hello there, I can tell you that through the desert southwest the weather in mid summer is hot and wet, we get our monsoonal moisture in july, 100* and raining in two mile patches just about anywhere. The very best weather here is spring april / may. warm days cool to cold nights, its great !
  16. Thanks Man, there are not many people a guy can count on the give him a kick in the butt when he needs one.
  17. I wear Danners , they are toughest boot I have ever found, The acadia is my choice but I also have their fire rated boot with the logger heels, and like them both. Redwings let me down on the with their boots bought for the job the last 2 pairs I bought sucked bad the quality of their boots really went down hill.
  18. Someone Kick me in the butt, I have got to get something started here in NM, these MD days sound like a really good time!
  19. It probably goes all the way back to why the Ventures were made to begin with, the rivalry started there, I have rode Harley's ,Gold wings and now ventures they all have their respective places, I respect all of them for what they offer, but being a loyalist, I'm loyal to what I'm riding at the time, But I still wave to every bike I pass with nothing expected in return. Its all about being me!
  20. Mine is equal with the others, 4000 in 4th equals 70+ miles an hour with lots of room for more, this bike loves the RPM's.
  21. This antenna is not capable of transmitting just reception, I didn't consider the CB since I don't have one, But this I do know the CB antenna cannot contact anything at all, in fact the one on my truck with the 100 watt linear will start leaves on fire if im under a tree and the antenna is against the leaves when I transmit with the llinear turned on. I would not suggest this type of mod for a CB.
  22. Ok, put me down for 2, Im sure I can find advertising space somewhere for the second one.
  23. I think I would like one of these patches also! it can go with the other one on my back where it can be seen by the RSV riders.
  24. My bike was missing the antenna for the radio, I don't have a garage for my bike, it gets covered with a nice cover, I needed an antenna, here is what I did. I went to autozone and bought a power boosted flat antenna, its designed for use on a windshield or the side of a boat, its self adhesive in three places, its held on through some pretty good temps so far this summer and works amazingly well. I utilized the right saddle bag as the location for the antenna.I located it on the door at its widest point. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c177/Touched1/PICT0004.jpg I drilled a 1/2 inch hole at the back ledge of the bag to run the power wire and the antenna cable through. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c177/Touched1/PICT0005.jpg I utilized the back of the lock as a ground. Installed the switch with the others, you may notice that the CB has been taken off the bike and new left cover has been fabricated to hold the class and cover the overflow. The red switch is for the radio antenna booster the other switches are running lights and rear light bar lights. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c177/Touched1/PICT0001.jpg It took me about and hour, cost 25.00 and I now have a great radio signal just about everywhere I go, no problem with garaging my bike under a cover. and a nice clean looking view to the back of my ride. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c177/Touched1/PICT0010.jpg
