    I cut my stock 86vr windshield down with a jig saw and a medium tooth blade. Do add a bit of lubricant now and then or it will gum up. I also put down masking tape to keep from scratching the windshield. I used a file and a palm sander to finish the job. Now for the shocking part: When I removed the tape, the clear coat came off of the windshield. My windshield was pretty ugly, so I took the blue masking tape and removed all of the clearcoat from both sides of the windshield and it was beautiful. I use pledge on it when I wash it now. But, I have since bought a new tall stock shield, but can switch easily. I cut 2" off---seemed to be a perfect height to see over the thing. Steve

    I'll just say that some years back I was hit by a an old fart that had Progressive and the adjuster was fast and more than fair. I now have my bikes insured with them. Steve

    We have a law like that in Wisconsin for motorcycles and bicycles. I haven't used it though. It's hardly safe going through a green light, much less a red one. Steve

    Does anyone having an 86 thru 93 VR, use drivers floorboards? If they are available, I'm thinking that they would put my feet in a better position, a little forward and a little lower. I wonder if I could adapt the rear floorboards to the front? Thanks, Steve

    Glad to hear that your son and his girlfriend will be OK! Deer are our biggest threat around here. When I first started riding, many years ago, I did most of my riding at night. Now, I don't even consider riding at night. Last night, I had to make a trip of about 30 miles and the deer were all over the road. Starting this time of the year they really start comming out.     Thanks guys, The thing about GPS, puters and lots of other things is that there is a lot more that I don't know than I do know. The 350 seems to have the best and worst of both, so I'm probably not going with that one. The 500, I'd really like, in fact, I'm trying to buy one from a guy now, but the communication thing isn't working. (It seems I remember my last wife saying something like that:rotf:) The 250 would probably be my best bet, and I won't buy a reconditioned one. Thanks for that tip. I guess that I really like gagets, and this is just the latest for me. I'm sure that I'll have my new toy soon. Steve

    I am toying with getting one or the other. I really would like the 500, but have heard about the hard drive issues on a bike. It might be a little big but other than that has a lot of features. On the other hand, the 250 is a card reader, so doesn't have the hard drive issues but a lot less gps than the 500. My question is, who has either one, and what is your opinion of yours? BTW, $ is an issure, so the Zumo is out. Thanks, Steve

    It's very common, in fact what most people do is put it on reserve and leave it. Use the guage, like your car. Steve

    That is just fantastic! I'll have to buld one. that will be a lot better than the bench that I built. I'll just have to take it apart and redoo. I'm so glad that you shared the plans with us. If I have questions, I'll know who to ask. I don't understand the front wheel clamp though. Steve
