  1. Hey Goose, Sounds like a great adventure! And I'm enjoying your updates. Stay safe and have a great ride, Steve
  2. I think that I must be missing something here. I do have a CT on order for the rear, but I don't understand the point of putting a rear MTn the front running backwards. If someone could enlighten me, Steve
  3. This might not help, but I was looking at LED turn signals for a bobber I'm working on just yesterday, and it stated that I might need a new/different flasher unit if I went with the LED's. I'll worry about it when I get there. Steve
  4. I see that Lowell ordered up a nexen tire. I called the Nexen rep in Cal, and got the specs: 165/80-15 6.5 width 25.5 height 2 ply sidewall Made in Korea--Oldest tire company in Korea I'm thinking real hard on this one. I need a tire before the riding season, which is about here. I really wanted two WW, but might just have to give in here. new tire every year doesn't cut it. Steve
  5. Hey Dan, That number is a blackwall. They don't have it in a WWW. But the good news, at least for me, is that I just found one and ordered it. Curt, I was going to put a BF Goodrich on the back, but no WWW and an inch lower. That won't work. Steve
  6. I need help finding a maxxis 150/90-15 WWW. It seems that they quit making them and can find the front, but not a rear in WWW. If you know of another WIDE WWW, I'd for sure check them out. I know that I can get Dunlop 404 WWW but they aren't as wide, and I want a WIDE-WWW. If I have to, I'll get the dunlops. Thanks, Steve
  7. Thanks, The reason that I was asking was that last summer I put a lowering kit on the back of my 05 RSTD, and really can't afford to have it any lower. So I will have to go with the federal 165. Steve
  8. Have any of you guys actually measured precisely how much a CT lowers your bike? Before I put one on, I'd like to know. Thanks, Steve
  9. Hey LA, I sprung free of that trap a couple of times, you know what I mean. Steve
  10. I'm with your buddy. I leave mine alone till I'm ready to ride them. sSeve
  11. All I can say is, hang in there Don. Unfortunately, it won't get easier for some time, but just keep telling yourself that you are stronger and will win. It'll will be worth it in the end. Steve
  12. Hey Sarge, Thanks for letting us know. Please give Pete my best wishes. Met him at PIP couple years ago. Hope to do the same this year. Steve
  13. Don, Glad to hear that it was a warning shot across the bow and no more serious than that, but as far as quitting smoking, it'll be the hardest thing that you will do, at least it was for me. All the advice and help in the world won't help. It will come from within you. I smoked for many years, and finally decided that I wanted to be in charge of my life instead of cigs. Quit cold turkey, and had to keep telling myself that I was stronger than the cigs. In the end, I won. Haven't had one drag from a cig since 87. Did smoke a cigar at pork in the pines though. The best of luck to you, Steve
  14. Yup, doing the same thing I do every year on this day. Deer Hunting. Steve
  15. Ya know, I was just about to say that riding a bike was exactly like being a cowboy. That is how I have always felt about riding, since I started riding, 45 years ago, then I read JT's post and was going to disagree 100%, but he's dead on. Steve
  16. Anyone from upper NY? They are supposed to be getting 2' today. Steve
  17. Don Try AAA, and see what you come up with. I did that when my son turned 16 and saved a bunch of $ Did switch over my home owners also, still saved. Steve
  18. Gary, My heart goes out to you today as it did a year ago. Hopefully someday we will meet. Steve
  19. I'm with Goose 100% on this one. I find it very offesive, because I know that they are doing it on purpose. Once the headlight is adjusted correctly, then where would you set the driving lights? Off to the side, (ditch) to watch for deer? In between the high and low? What really catches my attention is a motorcycle "WITHOUT" his headlight on. Steve
  20. Bigboy, I've got a question for you. If I run a Vredestein tire, 165R-15 on the rear of my RSTD, would I still be able to run a non radial motorcycle tire on the front? Actually anyone's comment would be welcome. I'd like to run a gangster tire on the front. Also, will this tire lower the rear of my bike? Iv'e already got a lowering kit on. Thanks, Steve
  21. Cool videos Juggler. I'd say that you've got this video thing down pat. Where do you have the camera mounted. real smooth videos. Steve
  22. The catalytic converter is 3 1/2" long. You should be able to find a long drill bit at a hardware store, like ACE. Better yet, harbor freight. It really isn't that bad of a job. When you drill the holes, just keep them as close to each other as you can. Go for it, Steve
  23. A standard length bit will not work. you need one that's about 12" long. Should be easy to find one. The catalytic converter itself is quite long, can't say for sure, but maybe 5". I could measure the one I drilled out when I get home. Steve
  24. I drilled my catalytic converter out. (06 RK) Just use a long 1/4", or so, drill bit and drill a series of holes around the OD of the converter and punch it out from the other end with a long pipe or bar. No big deal. Use plenty of cutting oil, and then when you start it up, don't panic when it smokes like crazy. It's just burning up all that cutting oil. Steve
