I used it in my bke while I was deployed. The only thing I noticed was a tendency to backfire just a bit until I had run some fresh gas through it. Normally I wouldn't use it because I tend to ride mine about once a week at least even in the winter.

The Lord decreed that his portion was the tithe, meaning ten percent. But he also said not to muzzle the oz when it is treading out the grain. When I go to the dealer to have my bike worked on, I pay a large amount to account for the mechanics time. My company charges it's customers a large amount to account for my time. Unfortunately most restaurants do not pay their wait staff spit, so I will continue to pay what I consider an appropriate amount so that maybe that waiter/waitress could afford to eat a meal in that same restaurant every now and then. I guess it is just my thing that I remember when I wasn't making any money to speak of and those times when someone went out of their way to treat me decently.

I have a lot of respect for a true concientious objector who serves within the limits of his/her beliefs. I have no respect or sympathy though for those who enlisted and suddenly decide that they are C.O.s when they get orders to deploy to a war zone (using the C.O. as a reason not to deploy and be let out of the service).

I have had two sons deliver pizzas. The areas with the more expensive homes were always the lousiest tippers, some not even tipping at all. Of course they were also the first to raise cain if they perceived there to be any problems. My youngest now works in a local steak house. Wages are $2 something an hour plus tips. For me, as long as the service is decent, I tip 20% and usually round that up so that it comes to an even dollar amount. Yep meals are more expensive than they were thirty years ago. But then again, in 1975 I was making $300 a month as a Sergeant in the Army. I am proud to be able to afford to pay a 20% tip, and don't want to go back to the "good" old days.

There could well be a second side to this story. I did not own a bike at the time, so I was not biased in my observation toward motorcycles. I was driving up I285 on the West side of Atlanta. There was a group of bikes in the lane to my right, the second lane in. They were in staggered formation minding their own business and not harrassing anyone. A woman in the first lane let some of them get by and then pulled right into the middle of their group, nearly hitting a couple of them. While none of them that I could see kicked or threw anything, I would not have blamed them if they had. That area in St Louis is very congested and my first impression after reading the news article was to wonder what the car did to set the bikers off. Maybe there wasn't anything but we have only heard one side so far.

Freebird, I probably won't use that section, but I really appreciate the way you have gone out of your way to give us options in the ways we use this forum.

Sherri, the link referenced was for the medals portion which may or may not have the actual citations for the awards. There is another area that will probably be of interest. http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/get-service-records.html. As next-of-kin you would be eligible to request a copy of his service record. That would certainly have copies of citations, areas stationed, etc. I obtained a copy of my Dad's after he passed. The only problem you may run into is that there was a fire in 1973 at the place they were storing records and some were lost to the fire.

I am south of Atlanta and would like to meet up with you guys, but my son is coming in for a couple of days leave before his unit deploys so that will trump motorcycle riding for a bit. I do get down to San Antone every now and then though. There is a really nice guy down there riding a 2005 Liquid Silver, goes by the handle Warrior. He also rides with the San Antonio SCRC chapter.

That is the kind of thing that they are after. They always have at least one person with a video camera to film anyone that actually takes physical action against them. Then they sue them and that is how they fund most of their crap. Kind of poetic justice that the lawsuit stuff came back to bite them.

South Carolina Meet & Eat Recap!
Gray Ghost replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
We had a great time, ate way too much. Learned way too much about the connection between Jeff and Gene (etgay away oomray, uysgay). Left Columbia about 11:30 this morning and made it back around 4:00. Thanks so much for the hospitality. -
About the only way you are going to keep your address from being found on the internet is to get an unlisted phone number and move from the last address you had with a publicly listed phone. I just tried the same thing on whowhere.com and using the search by name found addresses on me going back over 20 years. The whowhere page also had maps as an option when searching for me by my phone number.

I have the Lowrance Iway 500. I do routes a couple of different ways, if it is a fairly easy route, I just program in the final destination. When I look at the route, I can pick a point and tell it to detour there in order to force it to take a different road. If I am putting in a complex route, I pick out the first point, add that as my destination, then pick the second point, add it as a new final destination, and repeat until I have my preferred route entered. I have used that process to set up multi-day trips with no problem.

I like DQ and other American style foods, but the idea of a jaeger schnitzel and pommes frites makes my mouth water enough to overcome the drought here in Georgia, and that isn't even thinking about the beer. Spent three years in the Frankfurt am Main area and three in the Landstuhl area back in the 70s. Still miss many of the things there.

Just remember when you go to the physical, the little bottle is to be filled, not drained. Congrats.

At Cycle City Power Sports in Newnan, they were going to charge me $500+ for the 24000 mile service. Fortunately I got a three year prepaid maintenance plan when I bought the bike, so it was zero cost. Now while their service prices are high, I do have to admit that I bought the bike from a private individual with 308 miles on it, yet they sold me the maintenance plan just as if I had bought the bike from them.

If you live in a state that has sales tax, you will get hit for it no matter where you buy your bike. Being in the military I have bought vehicles in different states, but everytime I go to register them in my home state, the tax man has his hand out.

Good luck, Clay. Just a quick tip, offering to take them right over to a bar for a few quick drinks if they will hire you is probably not quite the best thing to do.

Anyone been watching Ken Burns's "The War" on PBS?
Gray Ghost replied to helomech's topic in Watering Hole
I haven't watched any of it, but then again, I was fortunate enough to have grown up with WWII vets around. Then when I went in the service I worked for some of those guys. I drove for a little over a year for a LTG that commanded an armored combat team that held up the German assault on Bastogne while the 101st was setting up. And being in Germany I met quite a few Germans who were also vets of the war. Their stories were important, but more important was their strength of character. Sitting on this side of history we cannot fathom the uncertainty that the folks who lived then faced. Not knowing if their way of life would survive, or for those who lived under rule of the Axis powers, if they would ever know freedom again. We owe them all a huge debt of gratitude. -
Retired in 2003 after a little more than 30 years in the Army (49 years old), went to work as a contractor, went back in the Army, am back on retirement and back working as a contractor again. My goal in life is to be like Lowell, and once my wife retires I do believe I will start the travelling.

I am more of a simple design guy, I may have misspelled some of the words as I am not fluent in Canadian.

Looking at the new one, I notice that there is a lot of detail in that, such as the border along the lower left side. That becomes more of a problem when getting a smaller patch done. That being said, I like the old patch, but I like colors too.
