  1. I came back through here last March. Wasn't any better than I remembered it from 33 years ago. Hope I can catch you back there before you head out. Been to MP school yet?
  2. I will be working at Ft Dix for a couple of weeks. I usually get the middle Saturday off for important stuff like riding, so was wondering if anyone was in this neck of the woods for grabbing some lunch or something.
  3. I love mine. I can't swing my leg up over it when it is upright, but it makes the ride a whole lot better. It folds down pretty flat over the front seat.
  4. The download for MP3GAIN is at: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php
  5. Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.
  6. I LOVE radar dectectors. I was sitting in a state troopers car just north of Austin Texas with him about to write me a ticket when he got a call about another car speeding with a radar dectector. He told me to get out of his car and then he was gone after the guy and I got by without the ticket. So ya'll keep using them, maybe I'll get lucky again.
  7. I had to go to Hawaii and Alaska recently for business (yea, rough job). In both places I had a very pleasant rental experience and wanted to recommend the places in case any of you get the chance to go there. Hawaii - In Honolulu the rental company I used was Big Kahuna Rentals http://www.bigkahunarentals.com. In the cruiser style they had some Harleys and a couple of smaller Honda Shadows. I rented a 750 Shadow, it was perfect for the island, after all there ain't a whole lot of miles there. Alaska - In Anchorage I used Alaska Rider http://www.akrider.com. Their cruisers were all Harleys. I rented a KLR 650 dual sport for my off day, first time on a dual sport, but then again I did get on some roads I would not have wanted to be on with the Venture.
  8. I''d go for the missile but the mounting rack on my Venture will only accept the Hellfire. Missiles will always get you more respect in rush hour traffic.
  9. I responded even though Georgia requires helmets, I spend a lot of time on the road including states that do not require helmets. I always wear one, prefer a 3/4 helmet.
  10. Work will keep me from attending the ride, but won't keep me from remembering why the ride goes on. I appreciate those of you who can and do attend the ride.
  11. Not busting you chops on this Gene, as I understand how jokes get forwarded. But what makes this even funnier for me is imagining a UPS plane with targeting radar and IFF (Interrogator, Friend or Foe).
  12. I am away from home and need to get some measurements on the seats on a 2nd Gen pillow top (had to leave the bike behind this time). Need the measurement from front to rear on both seats and the width on both as well. Thanks for any help you can give.
  13. To totally disable an account password in Vista: 1. (below the other pics) click on Start (the Windows icon for accessing the applications). 2. click on Control Panel 3. click on User Accounts 4. click on remove your password.
  14. I like the La Crosse WI area. Also like Texas, but at the risk of getting my Texas driver's license notched, I would have to vote for Wisconsin in the summer. Of course I no longer live there so I would be useless in getting anything set up.
  15. I am assuming that you gave the right-of-way to the fellow in #4? Good pics.
  16. I come back early in the morning next Saturday. Will try to get in touch with you after that.
  17. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scjb_f95diA]YouTube - I've Been Everywhere (in Texas that is...)[/ame] Man, that made me homesick. Even though I am leaving for Hawaii this afternoon and have a reservation for a Honda 750 for my one day off.
  18. My PETA rep is fixing to file a formal complaint. Those lions are only following the laws of nature, and your attempt to keep them from their supper of finely aged biker is cruelty towards them. Of course if you send me a cherry pie or a good beer I will convince him that it was just a mistake on your part and he should forget the whole thing.
  19. It might not be a bike, but if you let it grow a little more, I believe you could ride it.
  20. Personally I have had great luck with HP. Had one I carted all over the US, a lot of it in my bike trunk, then took it to Iraq and the crappy conditions there. I have since upgraded but it is still in use with one of my sons. I would agree that whatever you get, more ram and more harddrive are always appropriate.
  21. I wanted to come, I haven't been to a VR rally yet for one reason, for another, I was looking forward to meeting some of our members from Canada. Unfortunately work issues and the need to take care of some family issues precludes me from doing so. I appreciate all the work that has been done to get this rally going, wish I could be there.
  22. Don't be teaching her how to do wheelies until she can touch her toes to the ground from the seat.
  23. Congratulations Clay.
  24. The weblink doesn't go to the flag FAQ anymore. An updated link to the US Code relating to the flag is at: http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/FAQ/FlagCode.htm The section regarding wear is: "Section 8 (j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore the lapel flag pin being a replica should be worn on the left lapel near the heart."
  25. Gotta disagree here. The National colors always go in the place of honor, which is to the right. The US Army wears the flag patch on their right shoulder.
