Well, I am certainly offended. A fellow Venturerider who lives in the same county has time to try to stir the pot because he is bored, but does he even offer to come over and polish a second gen (which is so much superior to the first gen anyway). And as a result of his pot stirring now I am really depressed because I learn that a country that I really hadn't planned on visiting has a beer day! Now I have to try and figure out a way to get there in time for the celebration, borrow a bike so I can say I rode while there, etc. And all the while we have been trying to figure out a way to get to Germany so I could enjoy some pommes frites and schnitzel with a decent beer. Darn you Lewis. Because of all your meddling, my life is ruined. I may have to sue you in small claims court. Bet I can find a hanging judge that will see my side.

On my way back from Texas, the bike decided she wanted new shoes as we were passing through Monroe, LA. Fortunately I was able to get to the local dealer, they had the sizes I needed and they did some reworking of their schedule in order to get me out that afternoon. There was a little bit of a wait, but they took me over to the nearby Mall so I could get some chow. I wasn't happy with the bike picking up the nail hitchhiker but Bayou Motorsports made it a lot less of a hassle than it could have been. Oh, and did I mention that Thursday through Saturday were COLD for riding across the south?

Nah, Gordon doesn't even have the old warehouse I used to teach in back in 76. Even on Ft Polk you have to really look to find a place that looks like an old style company street. Just shows that they coddle them way too much these days. how do they expect you not to get homesick without 25 room mates?

I rode a couple of the sisters back in Jan 2006. Found it in a Texas bike magazine and it specifically said to call DOT to check on road construction first. So of course I didn't and ended up riding about three miles of dirt and gravel that sent my pucker factor way up there. Beautiful ride though and I can't wait to take my wife there.

All the shirts mentioned would be the same price. I haven't priced short sleeves in this, if someone wanted a particular style I could run that down. Don't recall a source for sleeveless though.

The design is sized for over a pocket, about 3.9 inches by 2.8 inches. If anyone is looking for a back sized design, I have the same thing in the latter stages of completion that is about 11.5 by 8.4 inches. Back designs are more costly but don't have it totally priced out on that yet. Colors. This one is a light gray because that is my bike's color. I can do other colors, haven't tried a two tone yet, but with some tweaking it is possible. I don't guarantee that thread colors will be an exact match for black cherry, for example, but I have no problem trying to get it as close to your bike as possible. 1st Gens. If you like the idea, send me a good photo (without a busy background please) and I will start work on one. Alternative for those who don't like the second gen but would like something related to the site. I would put the VR logo like what is currently on the caps with your screen name underneath for the same price as the 2nd Gen design. An example of what that looks like (but not on a shirt) is below. I am open to doing these on other types of shirts. I don't recommend doing detailed embroidery on t-shirts though. On my c-edesign page is a link to a catalog that shows different types and styles of shirts. If you see something you like you can email me using the link on the order page and we can negotiate that. No, the model is not wearing the logo itself. It is a general purpose catalog to show what a particular item looks like before embroidery. Once I get back home and put this on my own shirt I will post an image of that instead.

I didn't break mine, but a flight from Vegas to San Fransisco bent mine about a year ago. The doc put me on Naprocyn and while it helps some I still have problems with some sitting arrangements. What helps for me is not a doughnut, but one of those horseshoe shaped neck pillows. I take one with me on airlines, forgot it for my last trip and really regretted it. The other thing was that I used to ride with no air in my shocks. Put some air in those puppies and it feels a bunch better. As far as keeping the pillow on the bike, my sheepskins have a strap to hold them on, just put the pillow under the skin and it stays pretty well. You can arrange the opening in such a way that it relieves the pressure. And I really think that the seat mod would work wonders. Hope you heal quickly.

I got caught on the backside of nowwhere a little over a year ago. It was about 45 miles before I got to a gas station. I was sweating bullets on that one and do my best not to get into that situation anymore.

Venture radio problem

About a week ago my radio started acting up. The controls, except for volume, would freeze up after awhile. Just like some of you have noted, turning the bike off and restarting cured it for awhile, then it would freeze again. The head is now being replaced by the dealer. -
The chrome piece was the lightbar itself. Rather than being a tube, it is a upside down U with right angles. One of the sides fit very close to the fork so that the mounting bracket for the windshield could not get up to where the mounting screw was. I ended up slotting the lightbar enough to allow the mounting piece to get into position and it works pretty well, except that the driving lights are so close to the windshield I really need to move them forward just a bit. But thanks to Earl, I now know that my trusty Dremel can slot chromed pieces without a lot of hassle.

Hey Earl, Thanks for your reply. I was a little hesitant so I contacted Jardine about the issue. I won't ever buy anything Jardine on my own again, that is for sure. So since they weren't any help, I dug out my dremel and did the surgery myself. Glad I did now because what I thought would work and marked out wasn't quite a big enough cut. Have the windshield mounted now. It has to be set at it's highest level to mostly clear the driving lights. I am going to figure out a template and try to get a machine shop here to fabricate some extenders so I can scoot the driving lights themselves forward just a bit. Again, thanks for the information, it helped a lot.

Mine (2005) is in the shop right now for repair of the radio. They had to send it to California, but they didn't give me any hassle about getting it repaired under warranty. The GM even asked me if I knew about the I basket. They are supposed to be checking that out for me also.

Elizabeth just got a new to her 2002 Kawasaki 1500 Classic (6547 miles). It had a nice looking light bar on it but no windshield. So we ordered a windshield, it came in today and I was trying to put it on. Turns out the lightbar is made by Jardine and it is in the way of mounting the windshield mounts. In looking at it, if I could trim off about a quarter inch from each side where it partially wraps around the forks, I could get the windshield on. I have never tried to cut a chromed piece though and am interested in any feedback one of you much more experienced folks would have. The first pic is the bike, second is the odometer (6500 miles on a nearly seven year old bike is criminal), third shows the mounting screw and area I would need to trim, the fourth is a view from the side with one of the windshield mounts.

I was amazed at how much difference the bags made in what I could pack. I managed to get all my stuff I need for a week business trip in one saddlebag and the trunk. Some of the best money I ever spent on the bike.
