"She wanted to ride the Harley 1200 Sportster (Nightster?) that she recently bought." You beat a girl, not the Harley. Give her some time to get used to the bike and try again. You might be suprised !!

I used to do the ball bearing thing then changed to pennys in case I got stopped by the cops. Then I would sometimes let them pass and then put on my high beam and follow them. But, as I have gotten older I guess I have either gotten wiser or just more cautious because now I just let them go around me and at the very most shake my fist sometimes. But for the most part people nowadays don't really care. When women tell you to F-off you know things have changed. since I just started riding again with the acquisition of my new Victory, and after the last traumatic accident I have become EXTREMELY cautious and a lot more patient. I try not to let bad drivers' get me riled but rather think of ways to calm myself. I want to enjoy riding again and getting all steamed over someone else's inconsideration is not the way to do it. If it's bad enough I will get a tag number and call the police. That usually results in nothing being done but it makes me feel better. Now, if I'm in my truck, well, that's a different story !!!

About a month ago I called the nearest Victory dealer who is in Loxley Alabama, to see if he had a Cross country. ( got the dealer info off the Victory website). No, he didn't have a Cross Country but did have a Cross Roads. Same bike basically. So, a couple of days later I went over to LOOK at it and the manager, George, INSISTED that I demo the bike. To make a long story short I am now the proud owner of a 2011 black Cross Country. Originally I ordered a white/silver but a black came in unexpectedly and I took it. Wasn't really sure of the white anyway. If I judged the manufacturer by the dealers I have encountered I wouldn't even have looked at the Victory because a couple of years ago I had a really bad encounter with the Victory dealer in Jackson Ms. But instead, when I got interested in the Cross Country I found another dealer. And George and his staff are absolutely top notch !! With a couple of small changes this bike will be perfect and I am definitely satisfied. Didn't want to go back to a Wing and got tired of waiting for Yamaha to upgrade the Venture. So, anyway, don't judge the product by the dealer. The Victory is a great bike and you would be doing yourself an injustice by not looking at it if you are really interested.

Congrqtulations to both of you, and also tell him this vet says thank you very much. My wife has a nephew in the army. I was really worried for him when he joined because he was quiet and pretty meek. He has completed three tours in Iraq, special training at Ft Hood Tx. and is now a recruiter in Indiana. Last time I talked to him I asked him how he liked Recruiter duty. He said he hated it. Said he just doesn't understand the high school and college kids today. He said he is ready to go back in combat. But he really wants to be a combat instructor. He's been in almost 6 years and is an E6. I am so proud of him. By the way, good on the Army for helping your nephew get his GED. The Air Force will NOT take anyone with a GED. Have to be a high school grad !! I would like to see them bring back the draft !!!!!

That was Great !!! Thanks so much for posting !!!! If you see a Servicemember please tell them how much you appreciate them !!!!

I had a 2000 Cyclemate and it was a great trailer. I had the larger model which sold for $1250 new. Unless you really loaded it down you hardly knew it was back there. Pulled it coast to coast with no problems.

I think you should give me your trailer !! It doesn't go with that blue thing you are riding !!!

First off the truck driver that hit those bikers was on drugs and has since been arrested and is facing multiple charges. I for one would like to save the taxpayers a lot of money and just shoot him, but that's another rant !! I drive a motor coach (bus) commercially and have been for over thirty years. I take great pride in my driving and ALWAYS think about the 50 or so people sitting behind me. Driving a motor coach you HAVE to do it better and smoother. I have turned down work because I didn't feel 100% and anyone that drives commercially and drives impaired in ANY way should lose his/her CDL for life. As far as other drivers complete concentration and attention is required to stay out of trouble. Drivers (not all but a large percentage) these days think mainly about number 1 and less and less about other people in their attitude. Abrupt lane changes, riding the left lane, driving while doing a miriad of other things at the same time is just commonplace and to most drivers of the younger generations, the norm. Whether I'm in a bus or my pickup my attention is the same. The only thing different is, the margin I give myself is greater in the bus. I find that people will cut me off in the bus just as fast and as often as they do when I'm in my pickup. A lot of people think that the bigger vehicles can stop faster than a normal car. Since my last accident I don't own a bike anymore but when I did my attention and state of mind was much heightened from driving anything else. And even though I considered myself a VERY safe and attentive rider I still got T-boned in an intersection. You can try to watch and predict what other people are going to do but you can't fully know. As for rush hour driving I avoid it like the plague. But my most recent trip (on a bus) through Houston convinced me that they were the worst drivers in the world. And San Antonio had the rudest drivers. When you're trying to merge a 55 passenger bus onto the freeway and the idiot cagers won't let you in and seem to purposefully block you, that is just plain rude and should allow the use of deadly force. It just further strengthens my opinion that if you're not a baby boomer you DON'T KNOW how to drive !!!

When I had my 99 it was silver and a lot of people were painting the fins black. I wanted to but never did. Then when I got my 06 and the engine was black I tried to find some silver fins. Go figure !!!

I guess you stole it. It looks like a Cyclemate 1000 and they go for around $1200 new now. I had a 2000LTD that I paid $1200 for in 2000 and they're $1700 now. Great little trailer. Have fun !!!

Sorry for the slow response but have been really busy. Thanks FJR, I really appreciate that. Have been on that site since 2000 and hate it when I can't get on. This site is great also. Wish I had another scoot but Mama still says " NO". Oh well, I can read about ya'lls adventures. Thanks again.

Hey Tom..I was just perusing the threads and saw your post from awhile back. If you're still reading no, I am not back on a Venture. Goldwing was totaled from when I was T-boned. Haven't gotten another bike yet. Started to get a Spyder but after a second ride and no response from the dealer as to a firm out-the-door- price I gave up on them. I am seriously thinking about a GW trike but have never ridden a conventional trike and want to do so before I make a decision. Wife is stone cold against another two wheeler and I don't blame her.....she worries a lot about me on one. But she gave me the go-ahead for a trike. Just too busy right now to get to a dealer to demo one. Next time you're over this way please stop by. We'll have a cold something !! Was trying to get in touch with you.

Sounds like the BMW dealer in Baton Rouge. Called him to see if he had a K1200LT, back before I bought the Wing. He said "yes". Asked if he had one I could DEMO ride. He again said "yes". Told him I would be there saturday......it was thursday when I was talking to him. Drove the 2 hours and got there just after 10am. He had two new K1200LTs, but his demo was down because they removed a brake line on TUESDAY to fix a customer's bike. Could not let me demo the other new one, which was being assembled. But he let me in to the shop to look at it and answer questions. While we were in the shop the owner (female) came in and started yelling and cussing at me to get out of the shop because customers were not allowed due to insurance reasons. I tolds her I didn't just walk in, that I was ESCORTED by the Service Manager. She said she didn't care, just get out. I did just that, all the way out of the dealership. But before I left I told her that she had just lost a for sure sale and all future referrals from me. Two weeks later I bought the Wing. I was miffed because I had driven over and couldn't demo the bike. But when I saw the one being assembled I wanted it. Wouldn't give them the time of day now. PS. Come to Biloxi and I'll do your carbs with my new carb tune, for free.

Most trikes have dual rear calipers and a couple of the conversions offer the retention of the Honda OEM ABS. So in a panic stop you do have more weight to stop but you have more brakes to do the stopping. I have read countless posts by trike owners who say that in a panic stop a trike will stop quicker and stay straighter than a two wheeler. Don't know about stopping quicker but I believe the straighter part. I have never ridden a conventional trike so I cannot talk from experience, only from what I have read. As for the extra weight in the rear I don't think you can compare a trike to a rear engine car. I put over 200,000 miles on a VW Beetle in the 60s and drove in some pretty bad snow and ice, and most of the time I was happy to be in my Bug versus a regular car. With the added weight comes added traction on the rear or drive wheels. My Bug was going when most cars were either stuck or parked. IMHO, front wheel front engine is #1, rear engine rear drive is #2, and all others follow, if they can, in snow and ice. There is one trike kit that has only one rear caliper but it's not a Hannigan or CSC, and to me those two are the best. I think Hannigan also retains the OEM ABS.

I don't have a trike but I have been doing a lot of research on them lately and I've come to this conclusion, according to what I hqave read from specs and other owners; If possible i would try to ride the conversion you are thinking of getting. Then, also ride another conversion. I have owned two Ventures and loved both of them. My last bike was a 2008 Goldwing which I also loved. I would have to say that I would get a GW trike over the Venture, but that is just me. But I do know that I would go with a conversion that had independent rear suspension. Hannigan, CSC and Motor Trike have IRS. The Lehman conversions, which is what the new Harley Triglides are, has a solid rear axle. It's a great trike but I personally like the IRS. I have also been looking at (and test rode) the new Spyder RT. It has a lot going for it but it's not for everyone. Whatever you decide, I hope you have many miles of smiles !! Good luck.

Are you just really tall or does the bike sit really low???? It's a beauty but I've never seen one sit that low. Well, at least you won't have to worry about being top heavy at parking lot speeds. Really really nice !!!!

I would also like to know what a "trap door" email is. As for the comments made to the thread i think most were in SUPPORT of you, not against you. I have been riding my own motorcycles since 1971, one year after being almost killed in a horrific car accident that also almost took my wife. Up until 2007 I have had a few close calls but never an accident on a bike. since 2007 i have had two accidents, the second of which really messed me up. now, as much as I love bikes I am hesitant to get another because my wife is against it and I am not sure of myself. I have been looking at the new spyder RT and even test rode one. But it just isn't the same to me. I understand how you feel and am in complete agreance with you in your choice to ride with the Voyager kit. It's not for me but if it fits for you then great. As for the state of Pa. saying it's illegal, I would remove my Voyager from use when the police did the same. Some laws are just plain stupid and it's time we here the the good old USofA stood up to the politicians and said "ENOUGH" !!!! Good luck to you and yours and here's hoping you have a blessed Christmas.

We had our first trick r treater at a little after 7pm and our last a little after 8pm. I bought 3 bags of candy which was in a bowl by the door and then 3 more in the pantry. The bowl is still over half full and we were very generous. My daughter came over to give out the candy as my wife was working. We talked between door bell rings and I told her how when I was a kid in Portland Oregon we would start at dusk and ring doorbells until close to 10pm. Sometime I would go home twice to take the full bag home and get an empty one. And yes, we soaped windows on cars and houses but we never did anything destructive. Those, to me, were the good old days and things will never be like that again. Thanks to idiots who put razor blades in apples and pins in candy bars, and the overall lack of concern fo one another, no one trusts anyone anymore. Now everyone goes to the mall or to church parties. Since we've lived in our present house we have had our share of damage on Halloween and this has also made more people turn off their porch lights and refrain from participating. It's a shame because I like to see the little ones in their costumes and will continue to participate as long as I can. Heck, I watch all the Charlie Brown shows every year and just recently stopped trick r treating myself. We have become a society ofscared-d-cats and overly protective parents because of some very bad and disturbed people who have done some terrible things to kids. But bad things happened back in our day...we just didn't hear so much about it. . No, being cautious is good but it sure would be nice if things could go back to the way they were when I was a kid. Anyway, now I have all this candy and I can't eat it. Guess the guys at work will have to !!!!

I also had the one from radianz on my 06. If I am not mistaken it was cheaper than the one from custom Dynamics. It was really bringht.

Hey, it's October....It ain't supposed to be this hot. But if it will keep the s*** away........... Actually, I am from Oregon and I kind of miss the s***. If you want you can send me a little. But just one time. I don't need all that s*** messing up my driveway.

All I can say is I am glad he got what he got but I think he should have gotten more jail time. Now, I hope the family of the man he killed takes him to civil court and sues him for millions !!!! Twice the legal blood alcohol limit....this was no accident, it was murder !!!!
