  1. I thought this was a Venture site. Here we are talking about working on rusted bolts, cutting open something and then welding it back, and working on starters after you about dismantle the bike. How did that HD get in here???? OH, we are talking about a FIRST GEN !!! Well, that explains EVERYTHING !:rotf::rotf::rotf: :080402gudl_prv:
  2. Those are just too kewl !!!! If you have about ten years, you could teach me to do that!! No, you just do it and I'll just watch!!!!!
  3. Hey Joe, Glad everything worked out for you. But next time I would suggest that you check BOTH sides of the tire. But you have to say one thing for those Avons; they do hold up to the very last!! I was going to put Avons on my bike this tire change but front tire was in such good shape that I opted just to put another Bridgstone on the rear one more time. I probably could have gotten another 500 or so mniles out of the old one but I'm going to Arkansas at the end of the month and didn't want to push it. Spent the weekend with my son in Montgomery. Had an absolute blast. got to see the Barbers motorcycle museum finally and a place called 29 Dreams; really nice motorcycle retreat. Wish I could get up your way but don't think it will happen this year. Anyway, glad you're ok. By the way, my son has a new Street Glide......VERY nice bike.
  4. BEAUTIFUL !!!!!! :cool10::cool10::cool10:
  5. I had the same problem on my 99 with my cyclemate trailer. Need to use the isolator. They sell them at most auto parts stores. Or, change two of your lights to leds.
  6. Not just fantastic but FAN-TAS_TIC !!!! I am looking for another 96 Royal Star for local riding and even me, as clutch-fingered as I am could follow these instructions and complete the job. Thanks so much for posting this !!!!!! :cool10: :cool10: :cool10: :cool10: :cool10:
  7. Yes, Rickh has them for 2nd gens. I bought a set from him for my 99. But I had a lot of trouble getting them bled. Don't think I'll do that again. Will pay someone to do it for me.
  8. OK, would like some help. Called Adventurers Workshop yesterday to order a horn. Two numbers listed...called both and got an answering machine. Left a message but haven't heard from them yet. My question is....is this the only place that carries this horn?? I don't usually call back. If they can't call me after I leave a message, oh well. Thanks in advance!!
  9. I don't understand; when the CB antenna broke on my 99 I took it to the dealer and said, "this IS covered under warranty, right" !! I really wasn't asking him, I was TELLING him. EVERYTHING on the Venture EXCEPT normal wear items such as tires, brakes, light bulbs, etc is covered under the warranty. You have a dealer that either doesn't know his product or is too lazy to order you a new antenna. If he INSISTS that it is not covered under warranty, call the California office, or your district rep. My dealer tried to tell me that the black rubber intake tubes were NOT covered under warranty when they started cracking. WRONG !!! They ARE covered and the dealer DID replace them. I just had the trunk cover of my 06 replaced under warranty because it had "ghost" circles in the finish. Why spend money to replace parts or modify your bike when you PAID for the warranty when you bought your bike!! (it's part of the deal!!) you can do what you want but it is a warranty item and you SHOULD make your dealer replace it!! I can't believe that after almost 7 years on the market dealers are still trying to pull this crap!!
  10. I changed to the Show Chrome shorter shield, tinted. It really doesn't help getting air to me but it sure helps visibility in the rain, and hitting those cold pockets of air at night down here that will instantly fog the shield. I can look over the shield sitting normal or duck down in a really hard rain. Would like to get a vented shield but cash is slim right now. As for getting more air, I don't know. I don't want to remove the lower deflectors because of the rain thing. I just live with it. When it really gets hot I just don't ride, or I won't once my wife gets her car and I get my truck back.
