  1. Hey Friends, I'm back. Some of you know I've been on the road working since August 09. I havent been riding at all. I have came home for a day or two a few times but the Venture has been sitting in the garage mostly. My wife and I took a 100 mile ride yesterday and got home at 12:00 noon. We were sweaty and beat down. Its a pain to miss out on all the good riding in the fall and spring. Now I have to suffer the heat to ride. It was worth it though. I look forward to meeting more of the good people on this site and more riding. The last time we rode was at Vogel meeting. Happy trails.
  2. Defensive, Defensive, Defensive. Thats why I hate riding through cities. I stay on the country roads. I've still had my share of people just plain dont see me. Thats why I dont speed either. Hopefully I can keep those animals from jumping out too.
  3. I used to have the same problems. It feels like a beast. Tire pressure has a little to do with it. The lower the press, the more sluggesh. I went to the Vogel ride last year and these guys here on this site makes it look like childs play. The dragons tail was a blast. Keep listening to these experts on this form and you'll be fine. I just rode today for the first time in 9 months ( Been out of state working). It felt great to be back on the Venture. I Love it !!
  4. I am happy with my 5th gear on the Venture. Sometimes I use it at low speeds, 45-50, when thats the speed limit. I like it because the bike is quieter (bub's) at that speed, but like all said, no power for acceleration. I normally drive like a Grandapa anyway and usually get 45-48 mpg. If I want to go fast, I climb aboard my V65 Magna and get my eye lids pulled back. The V65 Magna does have a 6th OD gear. How bout that for a Japanese bike, but only back in 1983.

    Ahhhhh

Hey Man. I just got back from a 3 month trip working in Fla. Now looking to ride, ride, ride. I bet your looking forward to.... Saphire, Saphire, Saphire... hope I spelled it right. I just cant get it outta my head. You scarred me for life Goose man.. Have a great time in Cabo.
  6. uugghhh...My aching belly.. Too many Ribs. Rob fell into a pile of good luck at the Harley Dealer. It was nice meeting Ted and Rob, and also seeing George and Bobbie. Yall have a safe ride. Wish I was able to go.
  7. HEY !! I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK !! Thats OK we're having steaks tonight at Longhorns, so there....
  8. Problem is, We're all Human and all make mistakes. Some mistakes are more costly than others. I'm sure the cop feels terrible. Lack of judgement, inattention, time pressures, lack of sleep, whatever the excuse, there's always a reason that caused an accident. I feel sorry for the rider and the cop. What really ticks me off is drunk drivers, speeders that are known to be killers no matter how you try to explain it. Those people really need to be locked up.
  9. Say it aint so !! Thats horrible !!! And they didnt even match....
  10. The Pic was taken last Saturday 22nd around 5:00pm on the way to the Winery. We just got through taking a tour of the House. The ride was incredible.
  11. Well Friends, After telling my wife what a great time I had at Vogel, she wanted to go to Asheville, NC. I guess I dont have to tell you how great it was riding around the Estate. I've put over 3K miles on the Midnight in the last 2 months. We're hooked !!! I really cant wait till my wife gets to meet all the nice people on this site.
  12. Hope you take care of your broken rib. BTW, what did you hit your ribs on. I'm trying to visualise you still stting on the bike with it leaning over. Was it the handle bars that hit your ribs or the ground? Either case its a sad story. Glad you posted this. I learned something.
  13. Offensive? Yeah, the truth hurts.
  14. Yeah, it was nice riding behind you South to Greenville (that rest stop). Good luck in Texas.
  15. Glad to hear yall made it back. I found our pics on Killboy on the last page. Pretty good pics, but my mirror was covering my face. Oh well... It was great staying in the cabin with you guys. We saw a real bad wreck on I-26 on the way home. Must have had fatalities. When we drove by, thank godness it was in the oposing lanes, the people were just getting out of thier cages, the smoke hadnt even cleared yet. I still dont like interstates. Give me a country road and a good view. Yes, your car tire worked good on the dragon. I was thinking of installing a Gumbo Mudder. The guys up in the North could even ride in the snow.
  16. I would have gone back and probably yelled at the owner and said some unkind things. Things that I would have regretted, for letting the dog put peoples life in danger. I have a 11 yr old Lab (my Buddy). I am just glad you didnt crash. Dont worry about not going back. The owner knew the risk of having a car chasing dog off the leash.
  17. DAD Gummit that looks like fun. I'm leaving soon.
  18. Yeah, We like Pie as well. I think Sleeperhawks Mech will spring into action. But, you never know, if she's working on the RSV, George might be in the kitcen..
  19. Funny thing. My door wont open. Its stuck closed. I dont have casettes and dont have MP-3 player yet, so closed it will stay until I get an MP-3. However the thread is good to know about. Write on Bruddha's.
  20. I have a set of frog toggs. I dont want to get them wet, ha-ha.. I really dont want to get the midnight wet and dirty either. Maybe I'll shrink rap the bike and trailer it to Vogel.. I am carring a small selection of cleaning products.. just in case. Right now its raining, cats and Dogs. Really.
  21. I'll try to make this short, but allot happened in 6 hours at Columbia Power Sports Honda. My Dunlop 404 went bald two weeks ago after a long ride on the BRP. I was behind the eight ball and needed a tire installed yesterday. The Honda shop has free tire installation on Weds in Aug. Settled on the Elite III, they had one in stock. Showed up and waited a while before getting RSV on lift. New tire installed. The shop manager looks at the tire and tells me they accidently installed a 404. WHAT? My 404 didnt last long enough, I wanta Elite III. No problem. Bike goes back on lift. 404 comes off and I notice the guy struggling with the E III. Manager tells me the E III was shipped with packaging holding the side walls pinched together. They normally need to set them in the sun to soften them up before mounting. Another thing, it is a 80, not a 90, which hurts mounting also. They tried every trick in the book. Two hours later and a 2 mad Mechs, they gave up. OK, put a Vemon on. We only have that 404. OH Brother !!! No other options so they put the 404 back on rim. Set me back &132.00 OTD. I will say this. The Honda dealer has a very friendly staff and I even drove a simulator (cool). As last thread stated, talked to a SC HP biker and other salesmen. They only had good things to say about the RSV. So that was my day at the Honda shop. Next time Sleeperhawk and dave will have the honor. The good news, I'm headin for Vogel this morning. YEEEE- HAAAA
  22. I was leaving 0700am this morning, but rain is looming. I'm doing to wait till it clears. I figure by 10:00am I'll saddle up.
  23. Naa man They were impressed with the Midnight. They couldnt beleive it was an 02. squeaky clean. They have free tire installation on wedsdays in August.
  24. BTW..Yeah lets make some thunder at the tower.
  25. I was at the Honda shop today getting a new tire and talked to a SC HP biker. He was riding a ST 1300. He was getting a tire also. We talked about him giving out tickets on the Interstates. He was kinda funny telling me stories of almost getting run off the road and people doing dumb stuff. Riding a bike all day long increases your chances of wrecking I guess. He told me someone actually flicked a cigarette out the window and hit his windshield on the bike. Of course, he blue lighted them and fined them for littering. I stayed there at the Honda shop for 6 hours waiting on that new tire. I'll tell ya why it took 6 hours but I need to go pack for Vogel, yee haa.
