  1. Uhhhhh, is there any room left for the rider???
  2. Bummer indeed, Ken!! Gee, I know EXACTLY what you are going thru, only I'm not restricted on lifting, just walking... Maybe you should have tied that Guardian Bell around your big toe instead of on the bike!!
  3. Yesterday was definately not user friendly, was it?!!? We pretty much sat around and watched Science Fiction movies on sci fi and nibbled on whatever junk food we could find around the place. Today was a Doctor appointment and everything is coming along quite well, except they said something about having special shoes made up when it's time to return to normal. I'll be off work most likely until the end of August at least, so drop on by any time. And here I was hoping to start riding towards the end of July or early August. That restaurant sounds like a great place to meet up with everyone some time. Besides the Waterloo guys, I just met a rider from Rochester from the other site to get together with sometime, so Leroy may be a great central place to meet. Is Spankym's last name MacDermott?? If so that's the guy we ran into at Pioneer last week with the Black Cherry RSV. Hey, they have that Blue and Black RSV reduced pretty low now, very tempting but I still like Goldie...
  4. WOW is all I can say! Glad it turned out the way it did and not worse. The bike can be fixed, and hopefully the ankle will be fine in a couple of days! Praise God he was watching over you!
  5. We will gladly pray for the both of you, JT. Your bride is really going to need your support and comfort in these coming days, so be there for her.
  6. Well, there ya go, several possibilities! I guess the only real way to find out is to pull the driveshaft and inspect the u joints if the other suggestions don't pan out. It is a bit of a job but nothing that can't be acomplished in an afternoon. There is a copy of the service manual located in the tech section of this site that is a lot better at describing how to do it than me typing it out! On a bike over 20 years old the possibility of dry and rusted needle bearings is indeed a distinct possibility, and yes, they have been known to go bad but it's not a regular common problem...
  7. I remember one time Becky and I just spun a bottle to see which direction we would go in for a ride...
  8. The only problem being it takes about 5 years before you can start to refine after beginning to drill. As soon as the oil giants get wind that we are going to be producing our own supply of oil either one of two things wil happen. Prices will skyrocket, crippling our economy even worse, or prices will plumet ending our need to drill, and also making it economically unpractical to drill. We should have started producing our own oil years ago...
  9. Not 100% sure on this, Dexx, but if they are 3/4" they should work. I agree with you on the looks but I settled on a set from JC Whitney for $25 instead.
  10. I ahhhh, errr, ahem, offered technical assistance!! Also performed Chauffer duties. Actually, for the last couple of days have been walking normally on my foot instead of walking on the heel. I have a special stiff sandal that the hospital gave me. I've been "walking" on a limited basis from a couple of days after the operation, walking to the bathroom and back. The surgery is healing qiute well, with the insision down to about half the original size. I may even try riding in a few weeks or so as soon as I have the confidence that I won't hurt myself, but we'll see. Thanks for being concerned, Hipshot!!
  11. That may not work, as there may not be as many tumblers in that lock. Not sure but that may or may not be the case. Interesting thing about Ventures that we have discovered is that the blanks seem to be different or something from bike to bike. We found this out when three of us could not even start to insert our keys into each other's bike... I'm thinking getting the number off of the bottom of your ignition lock may be the best way or pull the lock...
  12. Yesterday's weather DID leave a bit to be desired, didn't it?!!?
  13. That's one of the many great things that this site is about!!!
  14. Next time, drive down to Buffalo and fly Jet Blue...
  15. Was great seeing you again as well and great meeting Gord and Syl as well. Glad the rain held off long enough for you to enjoy Letchworth. You need to post pictures of that terific paint job on your scoot. Looks fantastic!!
  16. Dave, I also have a pretty good assortment of spare 1st gen parts, but sorry, no upper fairings. I do have the lowers, though, and inners, etc as well as metal frames, etc if you need anything.
  17. No problem at all, Tom! You are always welcome here. BTW Dregerman and I ren into a new member at Pioneer who is ex Cheektowaga MC police. I think you may have introduced yourself to him or already know him. He lives around here and has a black cherry 2nd gen.
  18. Most likely is exactly what you think it is, a bad U joint on your driveshaft. There is a grease fitting on some swing arms but it doesn't get the grease where it is needed. Plan on replacing it very soon...
  19. I see you have a brand spanking new Venture by your public info. I would take it back to your dealer over and over or try a better dealership. I'm thinking the possibility of a stuck needle valve not shutting off flooding the carb overflow, or as suggested an accumulation of gas from the overflow after filling up...
  20. Glad you're OK Dave!! It's getting harder and harder to find good plastic for 1st Gen's. Ebay is your best bet but it's gonna take time to accumulate everything you need. Guess you won't be coming up to visit anytime soon...
  21. Keep alert, young man, and come back to us in one piece! Godspeed, and thank you very much for serving our nation!!!
  22. Thanks, Phil, you are only a couple three hours away. Just work your way over to Genesseo and take Rt 39 West until you hit Rt 16, then turn around as you passed our place 1 mile back! We're in Aristo Terrace MHP off Rt 39 just past the Arcade/Yorkshire border in Yorkshire. Phone number is in my personal info as VR assistance number...
  23. This has been a very enjoyable week with Niagara135 stopping by Wed evening for a short visit, and Dragerman spending the day yesterday. We're expecting Mother and of course OH Sherry! tonight with friends tonight/tomorrow morning. These visits mean a lot to me! Yesterday Dragerman and myself met a brand spanking new member to the boards, just joined a couple of days ago, that also lives around the corner from me. Forgot his screen name but hopefully he will post here. Black Cherry 2nd gen just like Dragerman's... Hope to see more of you guys in the near future. Gets real boring for me being limited on my activities. I promise I won't put any of you to work unless you really really want to do something. We will be caging it up to Kitchener Wednesday afternoon for the final dinner. We will be hanging around the park with Scott and Sherry and anyone else that is around in the afternoon. Hope to meet a bunch of new friends as well as seeing many if not all of our old ones!
  24. TCI = Transistor Controlled Ignition which is in a black box about 6" x 8" x1" located under the coils sort of below the battery.
