  1. Yup! Smoother ride and better cornering charactoristics. The wider stance of the Hannigan also helps comfort and stability...

  3. Basically reconnecting the CLASS will just allow you to do automatically what Jeff suggests manually doing. Hopefully your CLASS still works but there is some maintenance needed for any CLASS system which includes putting your water removing crystals in a microwave to rejuvinate them, and to solder the edge connectors on your controller. Also please note the CLASS only works with the key on accessory...
  4. Yah Dick, what Larry said! The only issue will be the clutch but replacing with the Heavy Duty clutch and either the PCW or Barnett conversion pressure plate will fix that! You may want to consider installing new progressive or sonic springs in the front to stiffen up the suspension as this helps out with wobble, which is a charactoristic of any trike. Lastly, when it comes time to replace your front tire, which WILL happen as they wear very fast, install a rear dunlop E3 in the proper front size and mount backwards, it will more than double your front tire life. Also, spend the extra for the EZ steer, it makes steering effort waaaaay better. Your MPG will drop considerably so you may want to consider the auxillery gas tank...
  5. Good luck Dan, or as they say in show business, "Break a leg!"
  6. Hey, now THERE's an offer ya can't refuse!!!
  7. Never worked for a union, never wanted to...
  8. Good Morning faithful readers!! Welcome to a special end of the season episode of AS THE WHEELS TURN! The writers are going to take a hiatus from writing for the Holidays but will return at the beginning of the year. So here it is, without any commercial interuptions! Twas two weeks before Christmas when all thru the store several prople were stirring all shopping for more All shopping for extras and chimney sweeping logs and hoping for bargains on beds for their dogs Motorcycle Tom in his Carhardt and me with a hat had just started out for an afternoon chat When in the next isle there arose such a clatter that we rounded the end cap to see what was the matter Away from the floor tiles we ran like the wind went past the shutters that were at the end The roof had just caved in but not from the snow and Praise the Lord there was no one below When what to our wondering eyes should appear but Tim Allen, a sleigh, and eight scared raindeer Tim Allen was driving, his outfit looked slick we both started wondering, is this somekind of trick? More rapid than sales clerks the raindeer did flee I whistled and shouted and called them to me Here Big Tom, here Marcarl, here Dingy, here Old Hippy on Bodner, on BradT, on Yammer and Squidley Come back from the tool section, come back from afar come back from the parking lot, you'll get hit by a car Like dry leaves with a leaf blower fly They had scattered when they fell from the sky One went into housewares, another to tools another to hardware, they all ran like fools And then looking up we saw on the roof the pawing and prancing of one little hoof Twas Rouldolph he hanging on to the light you should have seen this hilarious sight! He was dressed in fur from his head to his tail then the fixture broke and to the ground he did sail A bundle of rubble did fall on his back he looked like a mad man all set to attack His eyes were all blood shot, he sure did look hairy Snot shot from his nostrils, his nose like a cherry There was drool from his mouth and sweat on his brow and the look on his face, he wanted out now! Some PVC pipe he held in his teeth and electrical wire on his head like a wreath He had rolls of masking tape all stuck to his belly and his antlers were littered with jars of Navel Jelly He was chubby and plump, a strange looking sight and we all laughed at him in spite of his plight With fright in his eye and a twist of his head he let us all know we had something to dread He made a loud sound and ran straight to the back and there at the restrooms he turned to attack! And putting his hoof along side of his nose charged back up the isle and thru the hole he arose He sprang from the sleigh as slick as a whistle and away he flew like some kind of missle Yet we heard him exclaim as he flewout of sight MERRY CHRISTMAS VENTURERIDERS!! AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!
  9. OK my opinion of the bikes, not the builders. My opinion of the builders is not who I like, but more who I dislike the least... Paul Sr's bike was a very radical concept for the frame and I really liked it for what it was, but as with just about all of the custom made bikes, not my idea of a reliable and well handling high tech machine. I personally liked the looks except for the front suspension. I was almost expecting it to be #1 or #2. Jesse James bike looked like a cross between a modern sports bike and an old Honda toaster tank! I do recognize his talents as a "build everything from scratch" person and it was a lot better bike than he built last year. He looked rediculous on that one with a low riding position and extremely high front end peering under the handlebars to see where he was going. Shame, because the bike setting by itself looked great. This year's bike was rather ho hum. Yup, Mr Buell would have been proud of Jesse 20 years ago... Paul Jr's bike was a cool looking "Theme" bike and I appreciated the look but if he really wanted a car type bike he should have used a car engine!! Those custom headers on a Vtwin looked stupid!! If he was going to use a V8 emblem he should have put a flathead engine in it!! I was surprised to see it take 1st but I guess it is just a reflection of the taste and mentality of the American public... Gas Monkey's bike was a true representation of what the term "Chopper" means, but it was unfortunately a plain jane. Kudos for the fact it was driven, not trailered to the show. Of the 4 it is the only practical bike that truly can be ridden anywhere. IMHO it deserved the #2 spot it got! I didn't watch the whole thing nor did I really want to. It was more of a cross between a soap opera and the Jerry Springer show. Anybody watch Amish Mafia???
  10. Yah! Welcome aboard!! Plus 1 for keeping the leveling links! These bikes are indeed top heavy and the lowering kit does improve low speed handling. Probably the best way for you to appreciate this is to return it to stock and decide for yourself. Most of us use J&M's or Edsets for the intercom. The same din cables that are used on older Harleys, and on Gold Wings also work. Don't waste your time and money on the aftermarket Yamaha sets, they aren't quite as good. You might want to check out Sierra Electronics for supplies. As far as the Harley rear light frames, I guess either Fleabay or swap meets. Yes, the rear lighting is a bit anemic. Other suggestions are aftermarket high intensity replacement LED tail light, and LED light bars that you can find at trailer supply places. The bars I am talking about are combination runing, stop, and turn signals that are about a foot or so wide and about 1 inch wide. Mount them on the lower trunk mounting rack. You need to use a 5 wire system to 4 wire system adapter to use the turn signal feature. As far as the air pump, Progressive makes a nice unit...
  11. Awww, man, poor guy! Bet the kittys miss him!
  12. My clutch started slipping after about 5K as a trike, but I also did a lot of slipping getting used to the extra weight of the trike. Basically what happend is when it starts to go it slips when you get on it too hard. I drove for several thousand miles that way bwefore I finally got around to changing it. Actually, I sweet talked Squidley to do it at MD...
  13. I dunno, last time I was requested to put my clothes back on...
  14. Yah! Noticed you guys got a dusting on the news...
  15. Amy just stopped over to give us the news. Tom is basically OK but in the hospital for a day or two. They were stopped to make a left turn and got rear ended by some younger guy doing 50mph in a 40. This happened around 7PM last night. Tom was complaining about chest pains after the accident, probably from the seat belt, but they put him in the CCU at Buffalo General Hospital. The force of the impact broke both seats and Tom literally bent the headrest brackets with his head. Amy thinks thehy will total her new car. If anybody wants to call Tom, or if you locals want to visit, he is in Room 415 and the phone number is (716) 859-6415.
  16. Yah! I had a pair too, helps protect the lids from gouges and scratches. Yes you drill holes so don't forget sealing around the mounts with either rubber washers or a dab of rtv...
  17. Per above, the springs are SONICS. Here's the link to the thread towards the end of the thread... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68860&highlight=progressive&page=2
  18. Considering the front springs are around 10 years old maybe it is time for new progressives. Heavier springs also help out with front tire wobble according to a local RSV Trike owner. I've forgotten the name of another spring manufacturer that is better for the RSV but it is in a thread somewhere in the forums within the last couple of months. Just do a search using progressives and I'm sure it will come up...
  19. Sweet little Mini bad??? Heal fast my friend!!!
  20. Hmmmm, something ain't right there. Are the spacers under the light bar where the bolts mount?? Can't say that I've ever seen that issue, I have the EZ steer and no issues...
  21. Do the clutch when you change the oil...
  22. Way to go Art!!!!!
  23. Sorry for the delay getting back to you. For thye rear I ended up installing stock Honda Civic/CRX calipers and rotors which bolt on. Unfortunately you have to change the SS brake lines to banjo style fittings as the location of the lines using the hannigan ones gets in the way of the frame. Now to power the larger calipers you have to replace the rear master cylinder with a larger bore master. I used a Wilwood 13/16" master cylinder and cut off/ground off one of the mounting ears. I made an adapter plate and cut up my stock brake pedal assembly to mount it along with the master cylinder onto my home made adapter plate. You also either have to come up with an adapter for the brake line or replace that line as well as the Wilwood is SAE thread and the existing brake line is Metric. Good time to come up with a replacement brake line that is SS instead of the stock rubber one. It was a lot of work and trial and error but I now have twice the stopping power over the Hannigan setup. There is a thread in this forum detailing the conversion and the trials and tribulations encountered as I was doing it... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67814
  24. You must have just missed me by minutes!! Had something to take care of so had to leave...
  25. Shame I don't need one, that is a reasonable price...
