Thanks Brad I finally got it. Some one must have squezed the leaver while the clutch was out I guess. I had to bleed it while pushing the rod to get it to move at all but once it moved a fraction it returned to normal with the bleeder closed. I wish I knew what happend for sure but it is good now. I just put new clutch parts in my MM RSV. Got it all back together and the leaver is hard, no movement. I pulled the clutch back out to check the assembly and every things OK. I looked at the ball and short rod and they look fine try the leaver no movement. I loosened the bleeder and pulled the leaver got fluid, no air and the leaver moved to bleed but still no better with bleeder closed. I think the long rod is stuck. Any suggestions on how to get the rod out to check it? Do I have to pull the cylinder from the other side or is the a trick to getting it out? Thanks Rod

For that much you can find one out of town and have it shipped. Wrong time of year back there to be that greedy. Rod

It is because of the heat. Diesel oil will take the heat with out breaking down as fast as regular oil. Rod

I have a Menphis shades on the Virago (not the Fats tho) and it has lasted 7 years. A friend has the Fats on his Road Star and it is still good for about the same time. I would buy anouther one. Rod

I don't know why the Midnight was cheaper. Neither one had any accessory's and I did not see any reason for the different pricing. If I had the $$$ the FJR would be mine. Rod

I was at Motoworld El Cajon today and they have 2 07 Ventures on the floor one Midnight $14,495 and a blue/black $15,495. Also a '07 FJR $12,459 and used '04 Vmax $9,??? . Good starting prices IMHO Rod

Well I don't/haven't owned a Nomad but am close friends with JQ aka Gadget and have ridden his bike many times and He mine. For one up local keep the Nomad, two up or trips go for the Venture. JQ had to put allot of time and $$$ in the Nomad to beat me 2 up on the Venture for roll on power or off the line. We dialed his bike in on his son's dyno and I could no longer give him the jump at the light ( I usually gave him a bike length or 2) after he changed the timing and intake with the Dyna mod. My wife has spent time on the back of his bike and wants to get back on the Venture as soon as she can. Hope this helps. Rod

If possable make it to the North Rim, I like it much better than the South Rim. It is a very impresive sight from any angle. Wear good walking shoes and take lots of pics. A friend went to the "Sky Walk" and he said it was a must see but it was pricey. Rod

I think Oct. is a good time to visit Death Valley. Be prepared for extreme weather/temp changes. Spring is anouther good time to visit especially if you catch the wild flowers in bloom. Here is a link to the weather page. Services will be pricey so be prepared for extra costs. Have fun. Rod:080402gudl_prv: http://www.death.valley.national-park.com/weather.htm

And the # 1 problem is... no air in the front forks; followed closely by loose bearings in the neck; followed by crap OEM tires. If that don't fix it get more serious.... ie warranty. Rod

I want to repeat Baja is not the same as boarder towns; and to put some of the horror stories in perspective I would rather go to Santa Rosa than South East San Diego even with a gun in the US. Other parts of Mexico are worse but in the worst of Mexico vs worst of L.A. or San Diego I will pick Baja. Rod

While stuff does happen south of the boarder I have never had a problem in Baja. I have 2 good (American)friends who live in Baja and go down to visit them on occasion. I prefer to go in a group but have gone solo. Some times it looks like there are more Americans living down there than Mexicans. I always get their Insurance but have never used it. Tecate for tacos is a regular run for us and the biggest hassle is coming back across the boarder. I can't get thru Tijuana fast enough the boarder towns really suck. Bad things do happen but not very common in Baja. Rod

Having ridden many "modified" bikes across different states in the west I would say out of state plates give you a pass. I have never gotten a ticket but have been warned by officer friendly a few times. Here in So. Cal. enforcement is almost nill except some high end residential areas where you are not likely to be any way. The only stories I have heard of are local cops, never the county or state, and even then it was more of a "get out of town before sundown" type of stop. I am sure there are exceptions but I would not worry about it if it was me. Have a great trip and enjoy. Rod

I have never heard this and I am on many Virago sites and email lists. The most common problem is the shift linkage and shaft gets gummed up, not saying it can't be the shift fork but that would be last on my list. The screw that holds the detent mechanism can come loose. I would go with the easy fix first. For all things Virago go to http://viragotechforum.com/phpBB/portal.php Good luck Rod

Most of the time it is in the helm joints on the shift linkage. Clean and lube all the shift lever linkage and see if that helps. Also when it happens try pulling up on the shifter a little then down and vice verasa gummed up linkage or weak return spring. Rod

Don't know the color but mine was tucked under the headlight and it was the only one that was not connected to any thing. Hope this helps some. I don't see the color in the repair manual but I did not have any problems when I hooked mine up after I located the loose lead. Good luck Rod

D.I.Y. 4 Cylinder Carburetor Synchronizer

Nice job, looks good. Did you have to put restrictors in the line to keep the fluid from bouncing too much? Rod- 35 replies

I made a contact with a local HD dealer and am going to make a deal on the Road King/Road Glide pipes. How many people here would like a set? I can get as many as needed and will give them for what it cost +shipping. I can have his set for buying him breakfast the rest we will deal but not more than $40.00 US. He has 2 pallets full and said he would be happy to get rid of them. We are giong to Mexico camping this weekend so will check when we get back. Rod

VMAX Rear for RSV ordered
rod replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree with Pitbull, and will add that I doubt you will lose the top speed at all may even get more. The reason is I have never been able to hit the rev limiter in 5th with stock 2 gen, you just run out of power. With lower gearing you may get more out of 5th gear. Let us know how it turns out. NGK are just as good according to the guys on the Virago site. Save the money for more gas for riding. Rod

Rose had this problem and it turned out to be a bent pin on the connetor. You can check the pins to see if they are straight. Rod
