Well said!!! That was great I love it. See you on the road. Rod

I like the foam grips for comfort and price. The "chrome" end caps can be removed and you can use the end weights. I had the Kuryakyn given to me and don't like them as well as the $12 foam set I had, (for comfort) I have to wear gloves to use the Kuryakyn grips; for comfort and cleanliness. Rod

Thanks I will let you know the outcome. I would rather do the MFS exersizes on my Virago but my back can't take it for that long a trip so I would have to load it in the truck which would cost more in gas. If I rather ride the Venture up but it is a ***** on the first 3 exersizes where you have to push it around. BTW the coarse is the MFS Instructor class. Rod

I have an chance to do some school in the Sacramento area three weekends starting on Feb 22. What is the weather like this time of year? I have an Aunt who lives there but they don't ride. How bad is the fog and how well are the roads kept up? The class is in Rocklin and do they get ice there? Thanks Rod

I use the same gauge that my dad did. When you can sit on the seat with your feet firmly on the pegs it is time to ride. My Grandson started riding when he was 8yrs. He sat on the bikes every time he came over to check it out and when he was close we went helmet shopping so he was ready to ride next visit. Rod

I would run a can of Sea Foam through it. I have not noticed any change in the MPG when it is cold. My bike seems to run stronger with the colder, denser air charge and after sitting for an hour I sometimes have to use the choke. Rod

I have a good friend with a Road Star and he has a 1st Gen trunk on it for more storage and passenger comfort. I built a rack for his brother in law so he could do the same. Made a platform and legs that go where the backrest goes. It takes about 5 min to change it. I also put a pipes, air cleaner, dyna ingnition, and rejeted it and it realy inleashed the beast in it. I don't think it handles as well as the Ventuers (I have 2nd gen he has an 84). I would keep both if it was me. But I don't think you can have too many bikes. Have fun and ride safe Rod

I agree with ruffrider. I heard that the revamped Vmax would come out after a 1 year hiatus. Mama Yama spent alot of time and money doing survays on the new platform for them to trash the bike all togather. Rod

Puc you sound like my kind of guy, nice project. Pics please. Rod

I will go for a ride for you. For all you snow bound and cold Ventureriders I will do my best to keep riding for you all. I hope this helps. Rod :rotf:

Besides the country of origin keep your tire pressure up to specs and the chance of failure will be down. My tire failure was partly due to my own inattition to tire pressure. Good luck Rod

When I put this up I thought I would get a few replies. Here is what I took away. There are more older riders now...no kidding, new/returning riders get in more crashes...really? There are lots of us here that have ridden all our lives and are over 50 and never had a bad crash. Some is luck but I think most is defensive driving and experience reading traffic. Bikes are bigger and faster and we know that and exert self control better than when we were 20. Practice and training will go a long ways to keeping you safe but stuff still happens no matter if you are walking down the street, in your car, sitting at home or riding the bike. As for me I will ride and watch out for the other guy. Ride safe Rod

This was in the paper and thought it would be good to share. What do you think of it? Ride safe. Rod http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20071209/news_1m9bikers.html

I am doing some work for a friend that had his house burned dow by the wild fire, his shop was saved and he has a realy nice HD trike. I will get some pics next time I am up there (next week?). It is the best set up I have ever seen; independent rear axles with adjustable mono shock for the pumpkin and air/coil overs on each wheel, with disk brakes all round. He said it was pricey but worth it in every way. After 60,000 mi no problems at all. Good luck Rod

I bought a cheap program a few years back after a crash. It is called Handy Recovery and I got 90% of my files back. It was slow but it did the job. I have used it to retrive pics off the camera media that was corrupt too. It cost around $25. I bought an external HD and now back up my drives. Rod

I have taken many trips with groups of riders. Some people will not ride behind bikes with loud pipes and say it wears them out. Noise can have adverse affects for some people, don't bother me much tho. I have friends with quiet bikes that still wear ear plugs because the wind noise bothers them. I work as an electrician and am always around loud noises and am partly deaf because of it and that may be part of the reason it does not bother me. Rod

Some of the old Viragos had Hitachi carbs and parts are hard to come by for these. The good news is a good cleaning will usually solve the problems. There are several fixes for the starter on Viragotech forum. Bad solder joints on the TCI are a problem with some older Viragos but they can be fixed most of the time. Good luck Rod

After I had surgery on my left wrist the only time I had my left hand on the handlebars was when stopped or shifting. About 10,000 mi in all, one 1,000 mi trip. The only problem was in a heavy wind. Rod

I hope you got your Envirnmental impact statement that you did not have any spotted owls in those trees or you are in big trouble mister :rotf:. Looks like you can get some good lumber out of them. Rod

That looks like a trike that Exile built for the TV show biker build off. The rear was a custom machined part. It does look cool and I like the minamalist look but not street legal here in Ca with no fenders. Rod
