  1. I did the sandpaper rolled up in the socket and made sure the bulbs contact points were clean, no change. Guess I'll start tracing today if their are no other ideas.
  2. I thought about checking the back turn signals also and did it this morning. All the bulbs are good so I guess I will start tracing back for a loose ground wire od chafed wire.
  3. Before I start tearing into the wiring of the front turn signals I thought I would ask. My right front turn signal is not working properly. When you signal a right the indicator light blinks on and off rapidly. I checked the bulb and it is good. Switched the left bulb for the right and same action. When you look at the turn signals when you first turn the bike on you see one filiments glowing in each turn signal. When you activate the left turn signal you will see two filiments glowing with one going off and on to create the flashing signal. This filiment is a smaller brighter and above the other filiment. When you activate the right turn signal the smaller top filiment does not light up but the lower filiment (running ) blinks weakly instead. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. My son did his time in Iraq (Calvery Scout). They train them well and they know what to do. We have the best trained miltary there is and THEY know it. We will pray for his safe return.
  5. They may have grounded the can at another location with a short ground wire. This way the grounding bar attaches to the can with bolts or screws will serve as a completed ground to the can. I have seen it done but is not a safe way to ground the system.
  6. The key to getting the beast off the ground is the press down on the stand. It's not so much the pull up but the press down that lifts the bike. I found this after watching a guy who weighs 150 lb lift my old first gen with no problem. After he demonstrated several times it came easy. Level the stand, place your right foot on the stand, right hand grab the passenger rail, left hand on the handlebar, face straight ahead, press down HARD on the stand while lifting up with your right hand. The press is the key to getting the bike on the stand. It will work. Moakster
  7. Your 06 should still be im warranty. ( 5 year)
  8. Excellent thank you. I have printed off the post and am going to look at each place and check out the roads and RV sites.
  9. Thanks for all the replies. Our trip is in the early stages and it looks like were going to have a lot more time to ride than I first thought. I have looked at all the roads mentioned from Google earth and they are awesome. Thanks for the info. Moakster
  10. OK I got it backwards. Looking for info on Southeast OK to Southwest Ark. Moakster
  11. We are planning a trip to the Southeast Ark/Southwest Ok area for RV camping and take in the countryside. We have been looking all over the Internet at different roads and byways to find some scenic and fun roads to travel. Does anyone have some suggestions as to which roads are the best for motorcycling. Keep in mind my lean & speed control monitor will be riding with me. Moakster
  12. No offense but please check the VIN with your local police. For $5,500 that looks to good.
  13. Beautiful ride. I sure miss my 83. Not as pretty as your but she would RUN!!!
  14. Check your crash bar, they tend to bend a little and need straightening.
  15. With fuel pump running and the dash lights on it sure sounds like the battery is not strong enough to turn the motor over.
  16. Hey Goose not to make you wanting anything but... Here in Ft. Worth it got to 78 degrees today with a high of 80 tomorrow. Be safe and have a great trip. Remember planning and confidence wont replace LUCK. Moakster
  17. Hey Goose let me know when your having the maint. day. I don't need anything as you have already tuned mine up to perfection. Just wanted to stop and see what else you can teach me to do. Moakster:guitarist 2:
  18. Just a word of caution if you go to the Boot Hill (cemetary) at Deadwood. The parking lot slopes at a steep angle to the right as you try to park near the top parking lot. Watch that you don't drop it when you come to a stop. Has happened :>)
  19. The wife and I went to see the heads last year at the end of June through the first week in July. The sites around Custer and the roads to Deadwood and Sturgis are awesome. all the previous sites mentioned are great but a word of caution. See Mount Rushmore early in your trip unless you have a love of large crowds. On July 4th the roads are clogged from Keystone all the way up the mountain. All the roads entering from Sylvan lake were backed up for miles and miles. You don't want to be caught on them. Your grip on your clutch wont last. Other than that it is a great trip and beautiful ride. One more thing. Forget about trying to keep your bike clean. Every time you stop for any length of time in the Black Hills it will be covered yellow pine pollen. It is that time of season in South Dakota.
  20. Paint stripper and be careful of the splatter it does get on the painted surfaces if your not careful. Use the gel type stripper if you can find it. Then cover the new finish with a corrision protector like S-100.
  21. "This was just sarcasm, wasn't it?" I sure hope so, if not then don't coming crying to me when the scumbags enter your home and harms you and your family. Sounds bad doesn't it. It's out there and if you want to wait for a jury to find him guilty of these crime everytime before you or law enforcement acts then you will be the one sitting alone in the court house at their trial.
  22. I remember that piece of tape on the computer display. Red blinking ( battery) light drives you nuts.
  23. No truer words have been spoken about our country. Thank you
