  1. OK here goes. I was inquiring if anyone had a power loss from installing HD pipes on their RSV. Everyone was telling me that they experienced no loss of power just better sound. I kept changing pipes and still a loss of power and loss of top end. I found a set that seemed to bring my power back that came off a 05 HD Road King. Thought the problem was solved. Wrong. Well here is the tale of the tape so to speak. Changing pipes was not the only thing I changed. I also at this time added a set of the Yamaha Billet Carburetor Covers. Those who have installed these no where I'm going with this. The install requires you to remove two bolts from your carb diaphragm cover to use in the installation and replace them with the supplied bolts. There are two shims that fit into the diaphragm holes to secure the covers. Well....... You really should make sure that the shims are seated in the holes...... If you don't you create a huge opening for air to enter the carb from the outside, bypassing the air filter. The result is that when you twist the throttle full you create a vacuum in the carbs and the diaphragm gets sucked into the carb from the rush of the outside air. The tech working on my bike said that when the diaphragms got sucked in, I was then only getting fuel from two carbs instead of four to the cylinders. It turned out to be an easy fix. Re seat the diaphragms and realign the shims. Problem solved. Now I wont say who installed the carb covers or who might of forgot to check the diaphragm covers to make sure that they were tight. He will here from me ( I did it) later on this. Just as a side note... When I was trying to find out what was wrong with the power I took my bike up to 95MPH where it quit accelerating. Now think on that....... A V4 that will do 95MPH on two carbs into 4 cylinders and still be as fast as a Harley. :>) Moakster
  2. Man it had me baffled for a while. What broke the ice was I had it Dynoed and it came out to 43HP. Way wrong should be around 70HP. That got them thinking about the horse power and gas vs air mixture. Moakster

  7. The Kuryakyn shift peg according to their web site is designed to encapsulate the existing peg. There are two different styles. KY-8851 is the slip over the existing peg KY-4034 is a clam shell version Moakster
  8. Are you sure they don't just fit over the stock rubber on the shifter and tighten with a set screw. The Yamaha brand goes on that way. Figured the others would too. That leaves you with the stock if you ever change your mind. Moakster
  9. The 03 pipes were stopped up. Went and got another set from Harley that came off an 05 Road King. Put them on and got my power back. They have a low rumble when idling but will really bark when you hit them hard. The bike will pull all the way to the rev limiter again. No vibration now, smooth as silk except when you get on them. I took the 03 and bounced them on their end and a ton of rust fell out. I could hear the stuff rattling around inside the pipe. Quess it pays to keep trying. Moakster:cool10:
  10. OK, well I guess I must have a set that are stopped up or something as I definitely feel a loss of power with these pipes. It's not my imagination. Guess I'll look for another set. Too bad, these looked great. I believe they came off a 2003 Road King. Moakster
  11. Yours did not feel like it lost some omph!! when accelerating or vibration?
  12. Well I got my Road King pipes installed. From the looks of them from the inlet side they are both drilled for stage one. My question is the bike has seemed to have lost a little power and lost acceleration now. Almost like the pipes were clogged up. Also the bike was running smooth as silk before the install and now has a vibration. The HD pipes sound great and the vibration seems to be from the pipes. Is this loss of power and the vibration normal when you change to HD pipes? I had the carbs synced two weeks ago and she was running great. This is the first time I have tried this slip-on swap and don't know what to expect. Moakster:confused24:
  13. My son and I were traveling down a country highway(55MPH) in a new housing edition. As we were passing a large gated driveway a Spitz came running out after me. I slowed and accelerated away but my son was not so lucky. The Spitz missed me and turned on my son who was riding a 750 Vulcan. The dog just stopped in the lane and gave my son no time to react. He ran straight over the dog and maintained control of his bike even after going airborne after hitting the dog. There was no hope for the Spitz. We found a name and phone number on the dog and called and left a message. It makes me made that a young dog had to die because some owner did not take the steps to take care of their animal.
  14. Kinda confused as to what your meen by your post. Moakster
  15. The Mac pipes were bought by Squeeze and thank you. My 83 is in the classified if anyone is interested. She is a beautiful bike and needs a good home. Moakster
  16. They should clear the bumper as they are slimmer than stock mufflers that flare out near the end before the down turn tips.
  17. I have a set of the Mac Slip on mufflers still in the box, that Condor got for us back in Feburary. I would like to sell to another first gen rider if anyone wants them. Price: $210 dollars Moakster
  18. I am so sorry for your loss. I don't know what to say. I hurt for you and your family in this terrible time. Our prays are with you and your family and we will keep you in our thoughts. Moakster:crying:
  19. Just a flashing light on with kickstand down.
  20. That is a old tire from the cracking in the sidewall. A new tire would not have cracked on the sidwall like that.
  21. WE had a Goldie named (Lanna). She was the most intelligent dog we had ever owned. She would pick up on our moods and react to them in a way that was most enjoyable. When we were down or upset she would pester us to play to take our mind off of what we had going wrong in our lives. After the attention she would know that we were over our spell and would come over and lick us to say she understood. She was the best counselor we ever had. She could litterly read your mind. She died a few years ago from a brain disorder after 12 years of keeping our lives balanced and happy. She was a member of your family and when you think of him I am sure you feel the same. Please understand that what I'm about to say is from experience. Wait a while and please get another Goldie. They are wonderful dogs and great additions to families. Myself and my parents have both had Golden Retriever Rescue dogs and they can not be beat. When they come to your home the only thing on their mind is to please you. They are the most well mannered dogs who for what ever reason were left with G.R.R. These Goldie's are only wanting a home and people to love. You would not go wrong with one of them. My heart goes out to you on your loss of a valued friend. Moakster
