  8. My son and I recently got back from a ride in the Texas Hill Country. We visited Fredericksburg, Leakey Luckenbach and Bandera. We rode the Three Sisters ( FM 335, 336, 337). We also made a stop at the Texas famous, Garven Store. It switched from rain to shine on all three days but we got some good riding time. This is the first ride we have got to do together since he came back from Iraq. Here are a few pictures from the trip. Moakster
  9. Hank, taking a piss in public will not get you a Sex Offender Label in Texas. Only the courts through the legal process and criminal history can they process a Sexual Offender label for an individual accused of a Sex Crime in Texas. Disorderly Conduct in Texas is a class C Misdemeanor.
  10. I am referring to the air bladder/shock on the bottom of the bike and not the actual rear shock. Maybe I'm confusing the right terminology here. Now I'm confused...
  11. Jim, I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving. Try to get something other than MRE for the day if you can. I know you are away from home doing your job protecting our country and rest assured we appreciate the sacrifices you are making for us. Know that we are all proud of your service and wish you and your fellow soldiers a safe return when your job is done. PS: Keep the IBASS, Wylie-X and the Comms on and come home safe. 12. You done it now. From now on, only BUCK fever for you. Sad to say it is a growing addiction of sorts.
  13. Oh well, guess the groan won't be so bad. It compliments the chirp and whine. Hey I might start a band if this keeps up and sell tickets. My traveling two wheeled band. :cool10: Moakster
  14. I have jumped up and down on the bike on several occasions trying to see if something is hung up. I've laid her over and put oil down the tube to lube her and still no change. Sounds like there may be a bind somewhere.
  15. I have a dilemma with my rear shock. The bike was fine and then I installed the leveling links. After about a month or so the shock began to groan. I read all the posts about how the shock shaft needs to be oiled by laying the bike over or adding oil through the shrader valve. I did both . No luck so I took it in and they removed the shock and found it is fine and holding air. They found the needle bearing were worn so they replaced them under warranty. Here come the problem. They but the regular links back on the bike and the groaning went away. They rode it for several miles and all was fine. They reinstalled my leveling links and the groaning returned. They then removed the leveling links and replaced them with the standard links and the groaning shock went away again. :confused24: Anyone else have this issue and could the links be putting the needle bearings under some kind of stress or bind that causes them to prematurely wear out. 16. The closest I have come is rounding a corner on a back country road and having a bunch of buzzards sitting on a road kill in the middle of the lane. There was a black wall of wings as they all tried to lift off at the same time. Luckily I got the bike righted and stopped in time to avoid them but they were sure slow getting off the ground. This has happened to me twice in as many years. Moakster

  21. Terry, I have both a 1998 Vulcan Classic 1500 and a 2005 Midnight Venture. Here is how they compare in my opinion. The Vulcan is a great bike for running around town or short hops (100 miles). You already know how the Vulcan handles and it’s power. What you can expect from the Venture is more of everything including size. The venture is smooth over most road surfaces where the Vulcan can be stiff. The Venture has more power and a longer power band than the Vulcan as well as an Over Drive. Driver and passenger comfort on the Venture is far ahead of the Vulcan. Even after I put Mustang driver and passenger seats on the Vulcan it still doesn’t compare to the Venture for comfort. Handling is about the same for both bikes after you learn torqueing techniques. I guess I would say that they both have a place in my garage because one is paid for and is fun to ride (short travel). Where I really found the difference was on my daily trip to work and back (100 mile round trip). On the Vulcan, by the time I got to work after traffic, wind buffeting, bike vibration and all the maneuvering I was worn out and tired. On the Venture, my ride to work was easy and comfortable and did not wear me out at all. I guess that says the most for my choice. Moakster
  22. A quick question. Where are the headlight adjustments located on the second gen? Are they accessible without removing the front fairing or are they just where I can't find them. Moakster
  23. My son will be joining him soon. Tell him to get the job done and come home safe.
  24. It was a great find of something simple that could have been a high dollar remedy. I'm smiling now. I got my accessories from Diamond R Accessories and can't wait to put them on.
