  1. Bill the 86 that the members presented me with at Freebirds has Avons on it and let me tell you that they are great I did around 800 miles on them and we came through WV on I77 running the curves at speeds between 75 and 90 mph.I dont know how well they are going to hold up over the long run but with me riding the bike the miles will add up quickly. I will try to give a report on them when they do wear out so people can get a general idea of milage and how I feel about them. Jeff
  2. Tell the shop to remove the ground from the aftermarket horn wiring.I would suspect that it is backfeeding a ground to activate the starter silinoid. the only other thing I would look for is maybe one of the power wires for the horn is powering the small wire that goes to the starter silinoid.Have them start there if they cant figure it out have them call me on saturday at 9196735095 Jeff
  3. Sorry I forgot you have a Mark 1 I cant help on this one. Jeff

  5. Yes the one on the right handlebar I replaced mine and the draw went.Item #4 on the drawing http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/yamaha-motorcycle-venture-royale-xvz12tdk-1983/o/m7869 Jeff
  6. The not blinking is a sign of a bad ground in most cases so far as it works when running indicates that. Heavy discarge from one switch is a sign of a bad switch. I replaced the front switch on my 83 and that problem went away. Claen all of the grounds and try another switch and you should be good to go. Jeff
  7. We gonna test drive one and unbolt the motor and bolt it in a first gen easy as that:cool10: Jeff
  8. That sounds like possibly the plugs are fouled from trying to start it. Install new plugs turn the engine over with no choke when it hits start adding choke but dont let off the starter button while doing this sometimes they are hard to get started the first time. Jeff
  9. Gerald I got some Motorcycle specific fix a flat at Wally world at one of the stores that sells helmets and such it is nothing more than a glue type substance and yes it worked but it took a little to get it off the rim when I replaced the tire. You could try that as it did not hurt the rim.Just make sure if you take the wheel to a shop later to let them know that it is in the tire for the safety of the mechanic. Jeff
  10. My 83 had 44K on it in nov of 05 when I got it it now has over 139K with little problems most of my problems are from Lack of Mainenance on my part. Jeff
  11. Wingstuff.com for the headsets at $60.00 each for the J&Ms 80 is the limit for the cruise I am not sure about the cd interchange and Welcome to the site Jeff
  12. If you are talking about a First gen then your problem is in the tail light circuit. It took me 2weeks to find mine but try this.Turn the bike on in the dark and start wiggling the wires around the Class area over the rear wheel also if it is wired for a traler check that wiring. Jeff
  13. Heck Paul I just seen it and yes I got it.If you need to borrow it remeber my fee Banana Spits are gonna be a plenty if you need it LOL
  14. Paul the linkage could be the problem or the engine oil is in need of a change.Try it again to see if it is better if so its moisture in the engine oil from most likely humidity. As for having a hard time getting it into nuetral try goosing the throttle while shifting for nuetral that helps most of the time.. Jeff
  15. Which bag was damaged when it went over I have an extra left bag if your right bag is repairable Jeff

  21. Craig where are you at in N.C.? I would think it is bad gasoline empty the tank put some fresh in it and some seafoam and run it for a 50 or so mile ride that should fix it I would think. Jeff
  22. I took friday off and got Mini on the back of her bike and we went for a 700+ mile ride I used the excuse of our daughter was graduating from college.then this morning I got up and made her breakfast. You may not be able to do this but it was a nice time for us seeing as we dont get alot of time together anymore with me working away from home. Jeff
  23. Yes it is ok to Plug a tire on a bike as long as it is a PLUG PATCH some bike shops will do this for you if you can not find one that does it talk to car tire shops if you take them the wheel they can remove the tire and plug patch it. I got a nail on a near new tire and had it plug patched at my dealer and proceded to wear it out without a problem. Jeff
  24. During the ride to the last Va meet and eat I found out that my microphone died.Well after thinking about it for more than a week I emailed J&M this I have a HS8154 headset that is 2 years old and the Mic stopped working I already checked the pins and tried a different cable and it is still out.The speakers work fine what I would like to know is do you have any suggestions as to what I can do so far as troubleshooting the Mic itself? Thanks Jeff And this was the reply from them Jeff ,,,,,, I am sorry that you have had problems ,,,,,, Please send the headset to my attention at the address below ,,, we will take care of it for you ,,,,,, Best regards ,,,,,,, Mini mailed the broken headset off for me last monday and we recieved My headset back today repaired and good as new at no cost. I think that this is very nice of them to replace defective parts 2 years out of the box. As far as I am concened they have excelent customer service. Jeff
  25. Mini Muffin made not one but 3 pies today so that Becky would get the one promised to her and Beer that I ate last weekend.I guess Mini thinks I dont have room for 3 pies in my belly. Not to mention the scoot right now I have 2 whole pies in the trunk of the MiniBike and have had my share of one at the house so we will see if the Beers (Becky) gets a delivery of a whole pie or not. Right now I want to say to Becky I am sorry if the pie does not make it there whole I will try to refrain from eating it unless that is they built a DQ on my route in the last 48 hours,:whistling: Jeff
