Thanks for the reply! But not much help. I use Mercury sticks "carbtune" so I think I have the carbs sinked? there is not much dif. betwean the 4. they are much closer then from fact. I run 36 lb. in frunt & 40 lb. rear. 70 MPH on the speedo = 65 MPH on the GPS. I don't think that is luging it in 5 th. As for gas I do better with eth. fee but is hard to find. I have been running Premium. Have lowered the needles in the carb & gained 2mpg. So that brings it to 34 mpg. Maybe it don't like speed? I went for a ride in MN. witch is 55 mph. & got 42mpg. that day was a exceptional day for riding. NO WIND & 80 deg. That was 55 mph in 5 th. & flat roads. I could go to sleep at 55. I am still looking for some other problum. floats out of adj.? :think:Asked the dealer about the mpg. He sead 34 was in speck so there was nothing Yamaha would do. Amy checking or dino work was out of my pocket. So I am trying to figure it out my self With some help from the good folks on this sight. Thanks! -
Has any one put on different pipes & Put on a high flow air cleaners, mening throwing the air cleaners away & puting on a hihg flow unit. then jetting the carbs to match, With a dino & gas meter? Im not looking for more power, But more then 34 mpg. My o8 Venture has good power, But the mpg sucks! My thery is to give it more air & get rid of it with less restriction. Then set the carbs to match would help a lot. Just wondering if any one has did this & what the resolts were???????:think:

Rick, Don't sell yourself short! add 20.00 to the cost. Your seat mod is like no other & well worth every cent. I will sell my seat for $1000.00 to who ever whants it. I will just have Rick make me another one.

sothern people only know 1 season. They can or can;t ride thers bikes, because of weather. To bad for them. Up north in "Gods Country" we have 6 months of Motorcycles & 6 months of Snowmobiles. We have fun year around on 2 different units with lots of power. Less boring that way. I think my sled is faster then my Venture. Fun Fun Fun. My

Motorkote comments and tracking??

I picked up MotorKote at FlingJ truck stop. Same price no shiping. Changed oil today with it & put on about 100 miles the wine has got less or changed. When I was riding be for with the radio on 15 now its on 12 & can hear it just fine. So eather the MotorKote is making the wine Quirter or my hearing is getting better? I am still running Yamalube in a 08 with 10000 miles. All in 4 months. Find out more in 3000 miles! -
Did you look in the speck sheet. It still has a cassette deck. the only thing they changed for 2010 was the color. Just like last year!!!!!!!!!

Ricks seat mod was the best thing I did to my bike!!!!! 745 miles in one day. Now that might not be a lot for some of you But for me 250 was all I could do & still walk standing up. I love my Seat Mod.:2cents:

Just a word to the wise! If you use a Harber Fraught wheel chock, don't leave it over night without straping the bike to it . It will tip over. Lucky for me I had my kick stand down, no harm dunn! And "DON"T" fill your bike up with oil to the full mark when on this stand. It will be over full when you take it off the stand! The frunt tire is about 1 in. off the floor in the stand & that is where you will get a false reading. Don't ask how I Know! Good Luck & enjoy your ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what is the base number of vackum when sinking the carbs? mine is about 24 that seams low.using mercury sticks. Are the tubes with the mercury in them supose to be steady or do they move up & down ?

Thanks!! I found one on hear simler to this but it was for 6 & 8 cilinders only. never tryed clamp on tach. Just tachometers, thanks for the info. There is on on order.

after 45 times read no one knowes where I can get a simple tach that hooks to a spark plug wire & gives a reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is a realy simple ?

where can I get a portable tach for checking the RPMS. to sink the carbs? 08 venture dont have a tach. I don't need to have it mounted on the bike, Just for shop use. Called O'reilly auto parts. They don't have aney thing that will work.

Has amy one found a good way to clean the fins on the moter? Any products that you can spray on & wash off that work? or what kind of brush works well? I to have spent a lot of money on things that don't work! "THANKS"

Go to the web sit. there is a chart that tells how much to put in any size tire. most ventures take 2 oz. ber tire. pickup tires 5oz. big truck 16oz. some have used 2 lbs in pulling trucks. take your pick. I just ordered 4oz.for my bike & 20 oz for my pickup. will see if it helps?????? Thanks for info. MORE LATER on what I find out. Dyna Beads

Has any one tryed Dyna beads in there tires for balancing? I read the post that some were trying it but not much info was there. 1000 miles or less. has any one used it for the life of a tire & how did it work? would you use it again?

blinker lights on all the time?

I have a 08 venture. The frunt blinker lights stay on all the time like clerance lights. Do the back ones stay on like that or did some thing hapen when I hooked up my driving lights? I checked the wires they are hooked up the same as they were. I don.t rember if the back lights were on all the time or not. Have only had the bike 2 weeks. Memery isn't that good. Thanks

08 venture Where can I tap in to get a hot lead that goes off with the switch to run the relay for my driving lights. No not the head light. on off with the togal switch & off with the key? thanks!

Got my new 08 Venture home yesterday. Hauled it, no seat. Sent it to Rick for rebuild. So today I realy needed to ride it so I roled up a coat it sit on. 35 miles later all I could do was:happy34:. Never Road a bike that was so smoooo,oooth. Even with out a seat. I Know I made a Good Choise now! What a Bike!:thumbsup:

Harley has one thing going for them. "RESALE" They are trading in 1 year old bikes for new one's, for 1000.00 bucks. I own a venture & I Know Yamaha will not do that. In a 5 year old Harley you might 1000.00 from what you payed for it. But a Yamaha you will lose 5000.00. But on the other hand I didn't spend 25000. for my venture eather!

goldwing spekers are water proof. not sure if they are 3 1/2 or 4 " Put a set in my 900 two years ago. work good. around $50 A PAIR. don't quote me on the price.
