  1. Only "planed" trips so far is in June trip around Lake Superior and in August the International rally In Arkansas. Thinking about where to go in July.
  2. Name of Restaurant Rosie's Diner Street Address 4500 14 Mile Rd NE City Rockford State or Province MI Website (Optional) http://rosiesdiner.com Quality of Food Great Quality of Service Great Biker Friendly? (Parking, Trusted Location, Etc.) Yes Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) American Diner Alcohol Served? No Additional Comments The original Rosie's Diner from the old Bounty TV commercials. Was moved to Rockford from New Jersey. Great Home Made food, great atmosphere, and having their homemade pie is a must. They have another diner attached to it that's a sports bar. Busy place, may have to wait for table.
  3. I had Progressive on my van and my rates almost doubled for no reason. No claims, no tickets. didn't move. Bad thing was I had rates taken out of my bank account by progressive, they took out double and sent a letter on the increase the day AFTER they took the funds out of the bank. Went to a local independent agency and paying less then progressive charged in the first place.
  4. The 2003 GL1800 Gold Wing I had. Took me to parts of the country I would of never seen without it. Hope the 83 Venture I bought can do the same. But I sure do miss that bike.
  5. I don't know if it will help but there is a 86 on cycletrader.com for sale for $3999.00. I have no clue how to post it here but thought I'd pass it on.
  6. If they work in my 83 YES I will buy a set. I also answered poll.
  7. I take it the Yamaha dealer price I found on line a couple days ago of 79.57 is per carb? Part #41R-14940-09-00. Figured it was per carb anyway. 99Silver told me about this post. If these work on a 83 I'm in for a set.
  8. A Gold Wing.
  9. Just bought this bike in December and took all parts of brake system apart cleaned and replaced needed parts and all new fluid.
  10. After bleeding the brakes on my 83 Venture took bike out of garage and let it run about 10 minutes to get warmed up. Test rode about 3 miles (was raining) and pulled back in. Brakes worked great but felt pedal getting tighter and tighter. After getting back could hardly push bike forward. Put on center stand and could hardly turn front and rear wheels by hand. Left bike alone about an hours and brakes released somewhat. I had read to leave brake reservoir low for heat expansion. I only left it about a 1/2 inch low. Could it of heated the brake fluid that much in such a short amount of time? And do I need to take more fluid out of reservoir? Or do I have to look for another problem? Thank You....Karl

    Hobbies

Since I hurt my back 6 years ago It's all about riding now. And my 10 yr old Daughter. Riding Mapping out rides. Riding events. Reading about riding. Working on bike.
  12. Few years back I was riding a Honda CX500 that was saved from the Virgina Mud. My friend Gary was riding a Royal Star at the time and another Friend had a Gold Wing. 2 years later Gary had a Venture and I was ready to step up and was looking for a used Venture or Gold Wing. Found a deal on a GL1800 that was to good to pass up. 2 years later do to money problems had to sell the wing. So this winter the search started again Gold Wing or Venture. Found an 83 Venture at a great price and bought it. Rode it for the first time today on a short test ride. It will do nicely thank You.

Well I'm glad I read this post after I got off e-bay. I'm in the bidding also. Good Luck.
  15. Remember Gary, You use to live in Texas and moved back here. Welcome fellow nut.
  16. For me it's being retired and riding being my thing I love to do. I just want more time to do it. Also if I shovel one more scoop of snow I'll go NUTS.
  17. Sell a house in Michigan? You might be here forever. But wish you luck.
  18. Sorry to say I just can't stand this cold anymore. Just want to ride. Have a real estate agent and if all goes well I'm Alabama bound before next winter. Must be this getting old thing.
  19. Two summers ago I took a 30 day trip to west coast (21 states) no x-way and can't wait to go back. Used microsoft maps to plan route and looked up a lot of great roads on motorcycleroadsUSA. Every turn was another WOW. Living in Michigan I knew West coast trips would be few and far between and I'm sure glad I did it. I left in mid-June and higher elevation in northern states were cold but August should be great if you chose to go west. Good Luck and enjoy.
  20. Well today when I discovered it had changed itself again I was only able to upload one image.
  21. For my signature I have 2 where I have ridden maps, one of USA and one of Canada. And every so often I log on site and there will be 2 USA maps or 2 Canada maps and I will have to go back and redo the signature again to get it back the way it was. What am I doing wrong?
  22. Bought my 4 15/16 nuts and threaded stock today and will work on forks tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
  23. If I understand right after putting the nuts on each end I insert one end into the housing and hold it with the other end while removing and tighten the bolt. And this will not damage the inside of the tube?
  24. Today I was taken apart the front forks on my 83 RSV to replace seals and springs. I was following steps I printed from this site. When it came time to remove hex bolts at the bottom of each fork I turned and turned and got nowhere. I looked down inside the fork from the top and had someone turn the bolt. I could see the inside of the fork tube turning with the bolt. It turned hard so my question is. If I use a impact gun will this get the bolts out? I have the use of an impact saturday but wanted to ask the question before I tried. I see in the pictures I printed out from this site that a impact was used. Just don't want to ruin anything....Thanks.
  25. Had no plans to turn them, runout good, no grooves. In TM I have only shows specs when new. Just wanted to be sure they were not to thin. Only 42,000 miles on bike so they should be fine. Thank You.
