I have talked to many people on main street in daytona, this time I talked with several couples that were dressed head to toe with Harley gear, asked what they rode, the answer I got from several was well we haven't bought a bike yet, but are looking. Or you just love coming to bike week, we are thinking about buying a Harley but can't afford one yet. I asked one guy how much he could afford, his wife said about 150 to 200 dollars a month payment. He was looking a my wifes road star at the time, I told him he could buy one for 4000 to 8000 used, he said he didn't think you could get a harley for that, I told I thought you said you liked the bike your sitting on, he said I do would love to have one, I well its a Yamaha not a harley. I told him to reconsider, did he want to ride, or dream, he said ride, I think I will be looking for one of these now, found them a couple of hours later talking with a gut who had a 2004 road star silverado for 5700. Now I believe in real biker dress my self, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a tee shirt of any color. Gregg

If you are concerned about a plug in a motorcycle tire, have it patched on the inside with a cord patch, I have patched and plug, a rema plug or cord patch will not come loose when properly installed. To prove it to yourself, plug one with a corded plug, not a rubber plug, then run it couple hundred miles, pull it off and try to pull the plug out, you will take part of the tire with the plug. gregg

I was walking through with a friend, and the salemans asked if he could help me, I told him no was not interested in a Harley, He said I needed to ride one, I told I have ridden several and did not like the way a harley rides, runs or sounds and was not interrested in buying one I was with friends who were looking. You would think that was enough for him to leave me alone right, wrong, He then wanted to know what I disliked so much, I told him the handlebars shaking a the red light, the bikes feel clumsey to me, and the ride was just uncomfortable. I just perfer Metric bikes. Then he asked what it would take to get me on a harley, I said four things. 1. you give it to Me free 2. service it for free. 3. Pay Me by the mile to ride it. 4. give me a tee shirt that says "I am rideing this Harley because they pay me to. Then I will ride one. He said I guess you will continue to ride a Yamaha then. I laughed and said guess so, He laughed too, and said you know I get paid to try to sell you a Harley. Gregg

I run the same combo as Gunboat, think I started it, have 6000 miles on the kumho and 3500 on the Cobra, just perfect to me, this is my third RSV have had a 99, 2000, and now 2004, second bike I have put this combo on, will not change as long as these tires are available. Gregg

What the four letter word sn**, Don't know what that is, but I don't think we have any of that here. Ha Ha Gregg:stirthepot:

Bobby's electra glide won't get the mpg my venture does I beat him by 2 or 3 miles to the gallon, and I make more noise than he does. Gregg

I take the lowers off the fairing and the fork defletors to in the summer, no need for shims in the fairing the bolts that hold the lowers on, do no hold the fairing together. Much cooler ride, also and drivers road pegs to the forward crash bars and when you stretch your legs out on the wind will blow up your pants legs, we I get my feet in the right place air flows all the way up my legs, like air conditioning. Also I have a narrow cut down windshield for summer, and a wide show chrome low shield for winter. Gregg

To access the silenoid you have to remove the left side passenger floor board. disconnect the positive terminal on the battery, unplug wiring harness from the silenoid, and take an 8 mm socket on a 1/4 drive ext. removed the bolt that hold the starter lead. You can then lift up on the silenoid and it will come of the plastic mounts of the battery box. To test starter carefully jump a wire from the positive terminal of the battery, to the starter wire you unhooked from the silenoid. If the starter and the battery, and the wire going to the starter are good, it should turn, be sure you have checked your ground connection. If it still won't turn, one of these has to be the problem. ( OR the engine is locked up one) -
I could not find anything about radial tires in the manual, called Jim(dealer) today he said he did not know anything about Yamaha not recomending radials on the venture. He did say that raider, some of the warriors came from the factory with a bias on frount and a radial in the rear. He did say the Yamaha will only recomend the tires they have tested on any individual machine. Gregg
-
Don check them out at bikebandit.com, they have the radial commanders in the sizes that were on my 04, 150/80r/16 on frount, and 150/90r/15 on back. This is the tire that the michelin dealer recommended to me for the venture. And on the bikebandit site they list them as radials. But you know I went with Cobra and the kumho. Gregg
-
Radials may not be recomended but mine rides 1000% better, handles better and will stop on dime, with the bias plies they just seem to start skiding at the touch of the brakes especially on wet pavement. I'll stick to the radials. Gregg And as the ford and the goodyear reps told me when we did the testing for goodyear eagles on the patrol cars, it the lawyers who decides what recomended not the designer.
-
Old truck tires is right, they have not been on bias plies (except trailers and they are radials now) in 20 years, in my opinion the cycle industry is just behind on tires. gregg

Did we stop to meet and eat, or to eat and meet, I'm so easily confused. after all this time I bet someone needs an oil change, new tires, more chrome and extra fuel tanks for extended range. Hey I know lets head for Biketoberfest in Daytona, someone take the point and lets go. And some dude in pink chaps, takes off ....................................

That was a steal, how many miles did it have on it, paid $9500 for my 04 with 8800 miles and felt like I got a good deal. Gregg
-
Tell she should get a 1700 road star and see what she says. My 5'3" wife rides a road star and she can't even set the venture up. gregg
-
The Michelin commanders are radials, have good reports on them. 150-80-16 $110.22 frount, 150-90-15 $124.08 at bikebandit.com AMA members get 10% discount. I run the Avon Cobra radial on frount, and kumho car tire on back. Perfect combo FOR ME, not for everyone, have 5000 miles on the kumho, no appart wear, 2500 on the cobra and it shows no wear. I prefer radial, bias ply tires are old technology, most people would not consider putting a bias ply tire on a car, so why put them on bike.

My bike failed to crank and what I found was the fuse on the side of the starter silenoid was corroded, more than likely from road salt from being ridden in north Ga. What I did was removed the silenoid assem. removed the plastic peice that hold the fuse and the wiring harness plug, then pulled the metal prongs the fuse and plug mounts to out, the top peiced that bolts to the hot side of the silenoid I removed completely. Bought a fused link ( heavy duty $3.99 at oriely's) soidered a electrical end on one end of the link, and the other end to the spot where the fuse plugged to the blades that the wiring plug connects to. You have to grind some of the plastic away to put the blades back in. But now my fuse is behind ths side cover, and easy to access. I should have taken pictures but was in a hurry to get the bike running. if anyone else is having this problem and wants to perform this fix let me know and I will try to draw a diagram, or come help if your close enough. Gregg

Your buddy should have said thanks, got over, and then let you over in frount. That would have frosted the guys cake. Gregg

Mine comes for the 8th grade, wore a size 12 ( which is normal these days) some one started foots, and it change to footsie. But I am still trying to think of something that sounds tougher, maybe buffy, whimppy, still thinking I come up with a good one eventually. Gregg
