  1. Bruiser. Big Black and Blue 07.
  2. A note on small air compressor. I have the Slime, bought it at Wal-Mart and it works fine. But the 12 volt DC plug in the fairing only has a 5 amp fuse in it and any small air compreesor will blow this fuse. If it does not have one add a another 12 V DC plug wired from the battery with a 20 amp fuse. There is a hole already on the RSV behind the drivers seat on the left side, it will have a plastic plug in it. You can get an auxillary plug with a cover at just about any autoparts store.
  3. Welcome to the VentureRider Family. I sent you a PM. You can find out anything you want to know here so just ask.
  4. I have had a lot of good Christmas myself, but my favorite was 2006 when my nephew was 2 and understood what was happening. He is my parents only grandson and it was a great joy to watch him open his own presents and he had plenty.
  5. I was sitting in one of my box blinds on Wednesday morning Nov 7. At 9 AM something caught my eye out of the right window. It is pretty thick on that side so I was looking intensly to see if it was a deer. After a couple of minutes could not see anything so I looked back out the front window and there was a deer facing away with his head down and could not see if a buck or doe. Head was behind some weeds. Finally turned his head and had a nice thick wide rack. went to raise my rifle and a Finch flew in the left window right by my ear, they do that sometimes and usually land on the window but this time it flew inside the stand. Startled me and I jumped and banged the rifle on the side of the stand. The buck hauled arse into the thick stuff where I could not get a shot. I did get a good look at his rack, nice thick 6 point about 17 in wide. Dang bird saved his life. Only deer I saw in 5 days. Going back tomorrow to hunt for 4 days. Maybe hav better luck.
  6. I am interested. Depends on the date. Usually busy towards the end of May with the Run For The Wall, but April and early may would probably work.
  7. I have quit 3 times. The third time stuck, has been since December 17 1999. Toothpicks helped me. It was not only the craving for a smoke, but the habit of having one in my hands and mouth for over 25 years. I got a toothpick holder and would keep it in my shirt pocket where I used to keep my pack. Everytime I got an urge I would pull out the holder and grab a toothpick and put it in my mouth and keep it there for a while. Eventually got tired of the toothpicks and weened myself off of them. May not work for anybody else but sure worked for me.
  8. Press the select button (the center button) on the controller until you get to AUX.
  9. Well Friday I checked out the bike. The ground terminal on the negative side of the battery was not totally tight. I cleaned both sides and retightened. Rode some Friday afternoon before the rain. Rode 170 miles Saturday and no problems so I think that was the issuse. Thanks for all the suggestions. If it gives me more problems I will check the connection under the tank next.
  10. Just put a new battery in a couple of months ago. Started just fine when it worked and did not seem like the battery was drained.
  11. I put new Dunlop Elite 3 tires on my 07 RSV recently and went to the 130/90 front instead of the stock 150/80. This is the first good ride I have taken with the thinner front tire. Rode to Hot Springs AR for a Rally. We rode HWY 7 which is a really nice rode and to Mount Magazine State Park which is the highest peak in Arkansa. On the way home took HWY 270 to Mena AR and then rode the Talihina Scenic Byway into Oklahoma and then back home to Texas. lots of good twisties and switchbacks on these rodes. I have ridden both Hwy 7 and the Talihina Scenic Byway before with the stock Elite 3 front tire. I could tell a huge difference in handling all the twisties on both of these roads. Did not feel like I was fighting the front end anymore and at times almost felt like I had added power steering. Could take the turns comfortable at higher speeds. Was very satisfied with the way it handles so far.
  12. I went to the Hot Springs AR rally this past weekend. Yesterday morning getting ready to come back home from Hot Springs I went to start my 07 RSV and it just clicked when I hit the start button. I noticed when I hit the start button all the lights and the radio shut off. The radio did not come back on. I turned the key off and back on and it started fine, but had to turn the radio back on and all of my radio preset channels were gone. It did this one more time on the way home at one of the stops. I am thinking from the threads I read this morning it is in the ignition switch or could be the ignition wiring. I will not be able to check out the wiring till Friday. Need to check my warranty and find out when it expires since it is an 07 model and I bought it used.
  13. The MT90B16H is the narrower front tire. It is a 130/90 compared to the stock 150/80. I just put one on my 07 RSV and can tell a big difference in handling.
  14. The stock size is the 150/80H-16. The MT90HB-16 is a 130/90 tire. It is about 3/4" narrower and slightly taller than stock. I just put one on my 07 Venture and I like it. Feels like added power steering. Slow speed manuvering is greatly improved. Some folks on here put negative things about running a smaller tire on front and some have positve comments. It's up to you if you want stock size replacement or smaller.

    WHEW!!!

Last summer we had 72 days of 100 or over in the Dallas area. Need us to send some your way?
  16. Light colored long sleve shirt. Sunscreen applied every 2 hours. Cooling neck wraps, soak in water and resoak every couple of hours. They retain water and help keep you cooler. You can search online for suppliers or instructions for making them yourself. A cooling dorag works the same as the neck wraps. Got at Wal-Mart in the camping section. Tried out the dorag last weekend with my shorty helmet and made a huge difference.
  17. I have participated last few years for a couple of days with the Southern Route. Unfortunately I can not afford to take off the 3 weeks it would require for me to do the 10 day trip from CA to DC. I meet up with the group in Terrell TX on Sunday the weekend before Memorial weekend and usually ride a couple of days thru Louisiana and Mississippi. This is a site to see, anywhere from 300 to 700 motorcycles going down the highway in formation. People line the highways and overpasses waving flags and showing support for the groups making their journey to the Nations Capital. If you think Patriotism is dead in the US then you should try catch up with one of the groups to watch them go by or at one of the stops. There is a Central and Southern Route and you must register to ride with them. I promise you will not be disapointed. You can visit http://www.rftw.org/ and select one of the 2 routes and then the 2012 Itenerary. This is the complete 10 day schedule showing routes, stops and times of the trip
  18. This is a quick and easy one. I make it every year at the deer lease and it always disappears. Tamale Pie Get an aluminum foil throw away deep dish pan, about a dollar at Wally World Line the bottom of the pan with tamales, about 2 doz will do (I buy them from a lady who makes them, but you can get them at the store in a can) Cover the tamales with a large can of chili Cover the chili with grated cheddar cheese (or cheese of you choice) Mix up a batch of cornbread dough and cover the cheese (I usually use the store bought corn kits package) Bake in oven at 350 till cornbread has risen. Once the pan is empty just throw it away. The only cleanup is the bowl you mixed the cornbread in.

Don't forget the 45/70. You can get a BFR revolver in 45/70 and several rifles in 45/70. I have a freind that has the BFR and it actually kicks less than my Ruger 44 mag, cause it is so big and heavy. I have the Marlin 1895 Guide Gun 45/70 lever action. Love it for hogs. One of the originals with 18" ported barrel. Can handle pretty much anything I want to hunt in the lower 48. I also have a Marlin 1894 44 mag lever action.
  21. I have had heel spurs in both feet. Hurt 24 hrs a day for me. Had surgery on my left in 1999 when the shots and custom orthodics did not work. Had my right start up last year. Took the shots and my foot dr recommended Poly Sorb inserts. Got them at Academy Sports for about $25 a pair. Worked good for me this time, no sugery. Wear them in all my shoes and boots including my house shoes. Xray of my right heel shows 2 bone spurs on the back of the heel itself, they look like snake fangs.
  22. Merry Christmas Karl & Abby. It's not much but PP sent.
  23. A friend sent me this. Wonder how long it will be before it's south of the border. http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/calgary/Noise+Snare+ready+muffle+Calgary+bikers/5702613/story.html
  24. I lost part of my vision last October. Had a stroke and it only effected my eyesight. Have a blindspot in the upper right side. It is in both eyes, actuslly it is not my eyes, but my brain. Since it has been over a year now, It is more than likely permanent. When it first happened I lost total vision on the right side, could only see what was straight ahead and to the left. I was lucky and recovered all but the blind spot in a couple of days. I have a friend that it happened too and he lost his total eyesight. Needless to say it scared the hell out of me. Over time I adjusted to it and started riding again. I can actually see better on the bike than in a automobile. I think it is because it is more open, not closed in. I have learned to constanly look to the right. It is sorta like the blind spot when driving a car, you know it is there so you learn to look for it. It still surprises me from time to time when something suddenly appears that was not there moments ago. Give it time and hopefully you will adjust, but don't push it. My neurologist told me in a couple of years I wil probably not even realize it is there, the brain will adjust on it's own. Good Luck and stay positive.
  25. I drive a 2001 Cadillac Deville with 106,000 and a 1995 Chevy Silverado 2500 with 155,000. Had a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix with 253,000 when I wrecked it. And yes it does snow in Texas. The truck picture was from January 9th of this year.
