  1. I just hope he has prepaid his funeral expenses, but I don't think he is that smart.
  2. I just had the 20,000 mile service done on my 07 RSV at Sherman Power Sports in North Texas. They said they did everything listed in the manual which is basically go thru everything on the bike. It cost me $265.
  3. I have had quite a few myself, but my favorite happened to my Uncle Jim. I grew with my whole family riding bikes. When I was a teenager me and my brother had 2, my Mom & Dad both had 1, my grandfather had 1, had 2 uncles that had bikes and several cousin that did. We used to take vacations to Camp Albert Pike in Arkansa and would trailor some dirt bikes to ride in the mountains there. Uncle Jim who did not own a bike wanted to ride one so my Grandfather had a Suzuki 90 that had the short fat tires on it an told him to take it. Uncle Jim took off by himself and was gone for several hours. We were getting worried about him and fixin to send out a little search party when we saw him pushing the bike back. We all walked over to see what was wrong. Uncle Jim was standing there holding up the bike and sweat was pouring off him. My Grandfather asked him what happened and he said he had run out of gas. My Grandfather asked if he had switched to reserve and Uncle Jim looked at him funny like what are you talking about. My Grandfather reached down and switched to reserve and with 3 kicks started it up. Uncle Jim was mad as a hornet and started cussing and swearing about having pushed the bike a couple of miles. We all fell about laughing histerically. The more we laughed the madder Uncle Jim got. To this day when we all get together we remind Uncle Jim about his little exercise session on the mountain.
  4. Grew up riding bikes, dirt and strret. Had Yama, Kaws, Hondas and 1 Harley. When I divorced my first wife needed money and sold my Honda 750 CBK and my Yamaha 500 dirt bike. Got remarried, went about 20 years without riding. Started thinking about getting another motorcycle around 2001. At the time my second wife was having a lot of health problems and had no extra money so all I could do was dream about getting one. My wife passed away in July of 2003. After that I decided life was too short and I wanted a bike. Search for a while and found a new 2004 VSTAR Silverado I liked at the Plano Yamaha Dealer so I bought it. It was perfect for me at the time since I had no wife or girlfriend, but did have several friends that rode. Then I met my girlfriend and we started riding and decided the VSTAR was not big enough. I had met several folks riding Ventueres at Rally's and on trips and I really liked the looks of the Venture. Everyone of them loved theirs and even had a guy I just met at that let me ride his 2004. Once I threw a leg over it I was hooked. I looked for almost a year at dealers and Cycle Trader, but was not quite ready to spend the money and figured I would wait till Spring of 2009 and buy a brand new one. September of 08 I found a 2007 Blue Venture on Cycle Trader at a Honda Dealer in Denton, TX. Had lots of accessories and a good price so I called em up and took off at lunch the next day (was a Friday) and went at looked at it. Had everything that I wanted already on it and still looked new and the price was right so I traded in my VSTAR road it home. Never regretted it and love Old Blue. Took a 3 day trip to Arkansa in October with my girlfriend and we had a great time and never once had to stop and rest our butts from riding. Funny part is a friend of mine who had a Harley Ultra Classis before and just sold his Harley Road King cause he wanted another touring bike (and was fed up with the Harley Dealerships) was looking at Wings and Ultra Classics. He really liked my Venture. Anyway he found him a 2008 Red Venture on Cycle Trader with a 1000 miles on it at a great price and bought it. Now we are both as happy as can be.
  5. Have you checked to see if Wireless Internet is available. I live in a small town in North Texas and my only choice was Dailup, Satelite or PC Phone card. Had the AT&T phone card and it was OK, but not fast enough for me. Finally wireless became available and I love it. It is not affected by weather because it connects to a tower, not a satelite. Towers have about 10 mile radius so it might not be available there. Do a search for Wireless internet Providers.
  6. There was a guy in north TX making these. He made some nice ones. Problem is when all the local coffin dealers found out what he was using them for they would not sell to him. He said it was not worth having to travel to pick them up or pay shipping cost because of weight so he quit. He was only doing it for fun and not to make a living at.
  7. It works for me no matter where it is held. I will be there.
  8. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional
  9. I use Gauntlet gloves which work good to about upper 30s. Once my hands start getting cold I have a pair of insulated glove liners. So far kept my hands warm down to freezing. Have not tried any colder than that and don't want to.
  10. If you use a K&N oil filter you won't have that problem. They have a nut on the end of them that makes it easy to install and remove.
  11. My dad bought me a used 60 something Honda 90 when I turned 15 and I drove the crap out of it. The first bike I bought for myself was a 60 something Yamaha Twin Jet 100 from a neighbor down the street. Then I graduated to a 70 something Yamaha RD 350. After that I bought a brand new 1977 Harley Sprint 175, I was still in High School. After High School I bought a 1977 Honda CB550K from a freind of my dads that had been wrecked and fixed it up. Then picked up a 1981 Yamaha 500 Enduro from a guy I worked with so I had street and dirt. After my first divorce in 86 was broke and had to sell both, missed them much more than my first wife. After many years without bikes (had 4 wheelers for hunting) bought a new 2004 Yamaha VSTAR 1100 Silverado. Did not realize how much I had missed out all those years without one. Have now graduated to a 2007 Venture and love it. As long as I am able to ride I will never be without again.
  12. Paid $2.59 in Bonham TX this morn. It's been running about 15 cents cheaper in Sherman TX than Bonham and 25 cents cheaper than Dallas for the last month. Sherman is about 30 miles north of Dallas and 40 miles west of Bonham. Don't know why the gas there is so much cheaper.
