  1. I put a Dunlop Elite III 130 front tire 12k miles ago. Love the difference and have had no issues with it. Just bought new tires and have not put them on yet but 130 on front is all I will run from now on.

    The Potty

A LITTLE THREE YEAR OLD BOY IS SITTING ON THE TOILET. HIS MOTHER THINKS HE HAS BEEN IN THERE TOO LONG, SO SHE GOES IN TO SEE WHAT'S UP. THE LITTLE BOY IS READING A BOOK. BUT, ABOUT EVERY 15 SECONDS OR SO, HE PUTS THE BOOK DOWN, GRIPS ONTO THE TOILET SEAT WITH HIS LEFT HAND AND HITS HIMSELF ON TOP OF HIS HEAD WITH HIS RIGHT HAND. HIS MOTHER SAYS, "BILLY, ARE YOU ALL RIGHT? YOU'VE BEEN IN HERE ...FOR A WHILE." BILLY SAYS, "I'M FINE, MOMMY. I JUST HAVEN'T GONE POTTY YET." MOTHER SAYS, "OKAY, YOU CAN STAY HERE A FEW MORE MINUTES, BUT BILLY, WHY ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF ON THE HEAD?" BILLY SAYS, "WORKS FOR KETCHUP."

    Explain this

It probably just got bumped by a glass beside it and broke without you relizing it. I had a cieling fan in a house I lived in once that was in the den. It was over the coffe table. The coffee table had a thick glass ashtray with an eagle engraved in it, it was strickly for decoration. One day while watching TV with the cieling fan on the globe on the light fixture of the fan came off and landed on the ashtray. The globe was very thin glass and the ashtray was an inch thick glass. The globe bounced off and landed in the floor and did not break or even chip. The thick ashtray broke in 2 pieces right down the center. I could not believe it.
  5. I bought these 13" antennas and went to the hardware store and bought automotive stud reducer M8-1.125 by M6-1.0 x 31 for $2.60 ea. Worked perfect, even used the chrome piece off of the stock antenna. So far FM radio and CB work fine and the bike looks a lot better with the shorter antennas.

  7. Bought all of these used and paid cash for them. My first car was a 59 Beetle. No gas gauge or AC with the big 36 HP motor but got around 35 MPG. Could put $3 in gas and drive for 2 weeks. 64 Impala 4 door. Bought it used, was DR Pepper Vice Presidents company car. Special ordered with every available option including AC, Power Seats and Windows, AM/FM stereo with 350 HP 327 they put in the Vets and Power Glide transmission. Loved that car. After High School. 72 Lincoln 460 4 BBL. Best ride of any car I have ever owned. At 120 MPH just floated down the rode. Could not keep back tires on it though. 69 El Camino SS with 350. Then I went to Pickups. 65 Ford Shortbed 360 3 speed converted to floor shift. 69 Ford Shortbed 360 3 speed converted to floor shift. Painted UT Orange 70 Ford Longbed 360 Auto with AC.
  8. In High School I bought a 64 Impala for $600 from the vice president of Dr Pepper. He lived in Garland, TX where I grew up and it was his company car from 64 to 66. He then gave it to his Mom to drive. He special ordered it, 4 door black with the 327 high perfomance that they put in vettes, powerglide transmission with dual exhaust, power windows, power seats, am-fm radio, AC, fully loaded. Transmissin was going bad and I had it rebuilt. Put crager mags and thrush mufflers on it. You could put it in low and take off, hit about 65 and shift into drive and it would smoke the tires. Out ran every other Impala in the area. Some guy in an old dodge truck ran into me on the way to work after school and messed up the front fender, grill and bumper. He had no insurance or job and I did not have the money to fix it. I have regretted not keeping it and fixing it up. I have never seen another Impala like it.
  9. Contact Rick Butler about doing the seat mod, you will not regret it. You should not need the beads after that. I've had the Sheepskins from Alaska Leather for several years, the keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. With the combination of the Butler Mod and the Sheepskins I can ride as long as I want to in total comfort.
  10. Change the coolant and the fuel filter. There are lots of articles on how to do your own maintenace in the Second Gen and Royal Star Technical Library section http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14

    My Mom

Don't have a picture, but think my parents might. Will try to find one. Back in the early 70's my Dad rode a Yamaha RD 350 and Mom rode a Yamaha RD 250. I had a Yamaha 100 and a Honda 90 and my younger Brother had a Yamaha 50. My Grandfather had a Suzuki 90 with the big fat tires and my uncle had a Honda 350 scrambler. We would ride together whenever we got a chance. Mom crashed her bike at Camp Albert in Arkansa and ended up going to the hospital and getting gravel dug out of her leg and arm. She quit riding after that. Both mom and Dad are in there late 70s and I have tried to get them to ride with me but they say their riding days are long past.
  12. Check here, it says they will chrome plastic. They are in Corpus Christi, TX. I have not used them. http://www.chromeprosplating.com/
  13. It has already started at Gander Mountain Sporting Goods. When I was ready to pay for my purchases of gun powder and bullets... The cashier said, "Strip down, facing me." Making a mental note to complain to the NRA about the gun control whackos running amok, I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to how I should place my credit card in the card-reader. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer! I STILL DON'T THINK I LOOKED THAT BAD.
  14. I bought pillow top seats for my 07 RSV from Condor, my driver seat was ripped on one side and Condor had a set for sale. I took the set to Rick and he did his magic. Put the seats on Saturday. It was beautiful weather yesterday here, mid 80s. I spent all day out on the bike. Rode in a Toy Run and then rode some more. Almost 300 miles in all. The driver seat was very comforatble and at no point did I even consider stopping to take a break. The Toy Run was over an hour ride and all the guys I ride with were ready to get off the harleys and complaining of but ache. The only other one not complaining was on a goldwing trike. My girlfriend had to work this weekend so could not ride with me but I am sure she will be pleased with the way the seat feels. I highly recommend you have Rick work his magic on your seats if they have not been done.
  15. Contact Rick Butler about his seat modification. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3738&title=butt-butler-seat-mod&cat=25 I bought the seats from Condor and Rick is reworking them now. Here is the infor on moving the trunk back. I did this on my 07 and it made a huge difference in room for the passenger. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74017&highlight=moving+trunk
  16. Got this when I turned 15. 60 something Honda 90, don't remember the year. Had a blast on it. Rode it to school and used it as a dirt bike even though it wasn't one. Then got a Yamaha 100. It set out in shed for several years and was not running. Had an Uncle took it and got it running again and rode it for several years. He sold it.
  17. Watch out for Deer, especially September thru November. They like to cross roads, doesn't matter if it's highways or back roads. The Lost Maples Cafe in Utopia is always a good place to eat, make sure you get some pie. The Lone Star Motorcycle Museum is a nice stop too. Lots of older bikes. It is near the Three Sisters. http://www.lonestarmotorcyclemuseum.com/id2.html
  18. You should contact Rick Butler to get his seat mod done. Makes a big difference on comfort. Search for Rick Butler under members list.
  19. EBC Brake pads. I got the sintered and really like these. http://store.thundervalleypower.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_2_7&sort=20a&page=2&zenid=2336da43c0da3fb72cd33b16a5d5d21d
  20. Word of caution. Those quick release saddle bags are very easy to steal. I know of several folks that have had theirs stolen in motel parking lots. You can get a lock for them.
  21. The 12 volt aux plug inside fairing only has 5 amp fuse. Will blow if you try to use a mini compressor or anything with big amp draw. Fuses are located in lower right side cowling. There are many articles in the Tech Talk section under Second Generation that will give you lots of good tips on how to do fixes, upgrades, etc. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9 Also check out Tech Library Second Generation http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14

  23. A long time ago I lived in a bad neighbor hood in Dallas area for a couple of years. Had a 80 lb Black lab and a 60 lb Doberman. Would sit out in the front yard with both dogs on some weekends and nice evenings so everyone would see them. Both dogs stayed in the house when not home. Never once had a problem, although several of my neighbors had there houses broken in to.
  24. Went on a cruise to Alaska in 2000. In Juneau went on a 4 hour fish trip. 21' boat with 4 fisherman. Rough seas that day. Another fishing boat was beside us and it would disapear completely from view. We caught 3 salman that day. The captain tried to get a fish for each of us but one guy who could not speak english could not land a fish even though there were 5 hooked for hime. We could only run one rod because it was so rough. Closest I ever got to being seasick, turned green but held it in. Went again in Katchekan and the water was like glass. All four fisherman caught our limit of 4.
