  1. Its a bit on the expensive side for postage down to Rick(i was quoted $70 from ups,no idea about the return price) from Canada,if you live near the border and have a PO box to have it shipped back to (which i do , it cost me $40 US return by ups)that would be the way to go. havent spent many long hours in the saddle since i had it done ,but i did do a long poker run (8hrs ish) and didnt have any pain problems. total for me was around $100 Can and well worth it. thanks Rick
  2. i rented and rode a GL 1500 for 10 days back in june , i gotta say i was impressed with the handling the power and the comfort. i spent 12 hours riding one day and other than my knees (hated the foot position) and being a wee bit stiff ,i had no problems at all . my RSV is fairly decent now igot Mr Butler to sort the seat, but i,m pretty sure i couldnt do 12hours on it .i,m 6'4" and found the foot position not that good ,after a few days i got used to it but still didnt like it . i also found that the GW was a complete pig on gas/petrol .at $2 per liter ,i was only getting upto 120 miles per 3/4 of a tank(going by fuel gauge) sometimes as low as 70miles per 3/4 tank. much prefer the RSV to the GW .oh yea, that fairing that doesnt move, felt a bit weird for a day or two . cool bike, but not really built for tall guys .and if you think that bike dont handle, have a look on youtube for the guy that races up the dragon on one . well worth a watch anyways .
  3. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ great website with tons of info about shipping bikes and everything else thats related. i was quoted $3600 (ahem ripoff)from these guys http://www.motorcycleexpress.com/ that was from Vancouver Canada to Glasgow Scotland return, earlier this year. theres several airlines that will fly your bike to europe Lufthansa is one ,cant think of the others at the moment but worth giving a few airlines a call and asking. i will say tho, that if your only going for a week or 2 its not worth it to ship, much cheaper to rent . i rented a Gwing for 9 days @65 pounds/ $100 Can a day ,which was reasonable. HDs where in the 800+ pounds per week . hope this helps a little
  4. For the last few years ive been going to some bike rallies in the UK ,and well everyone including some ladies, use bottles or coffee mugs(do not use for your cuppa after tho) for peeing in at night .in the case of the ladies ,i have been told they use the hospital type of pee bottle . when i first heard this i thought this was really funny, but after 10 or 12 bottles(pint ones) of nooky broon and trying to commando crawl out of my tent in the middle of the night in the pi$$ing rain i was a convert.
  5. Cant comment on the Flanders bars (i will be interested in others postings tho). i just installed the Baron risers on my RSV but after sitting on it several times(never did test ride with them) i just removed them . dont like my arm position with them ,just didnt feel right to me ,so pushed my bars forward and closed that small gap between bar and fairing its only about 1/2" , we'll see if that'll make any differrence.i'll be trying it out in the next few days . i had the same problem of shoulder blade pain when i first got the RSV (i'm 6'4") but it soon went away, with more riding time. my problem is my pinky finger on my right hand goes numb off and on ,more a pain in the erse than anything. so i might be trying the flanders bars next .only 2 things on this bike i hate/d, the pillow seat ( really was a huge pain in the erse ,thanks to Mr Butler for fixing that) and the handlebars.
  6. Great info there Rick . i was using Beacon, around $550 for the year ,used that til aug last year . nothing since but basic icbc (). i also only insure for 6 months ,on all my vehicles. Truck oct-march, Triumph feb-july and Yami may-oct (probably start this weekend) .will look into Megson Fitzpatrick tho.

    Ride For Dad

Not sure but i believe the Ride for Dad in Vancouver has changed to Ride to Live and is on the 30th of may this year. i heard a story about how all the monies collected goes back to Ontario and some people were unhappy about that so there doing the Ride to Live instead and the monies collected goes to local research . http://www.ridetolive.ca/
  10. i got way to many favs . i got a Mp3 player,an iphone and a gps full of tunes . celtic ,folk ,punk ,metal, blues allsorts really. but i have Dire Straits and Pink floyd on all of them, so i'll go with Brothers in Arms and Sultans of Swing, Comfortably Numb and Young Lust
  11. Its defo a GL1500 RSJ, i believe its a 98 or R reg, that was shipped over from the US (it should be used to riding on the other side of the road by now ya'd think:scratchchin:).theres quite a few places in the UK that rent older/classic bikes ,this one just happens to be close to my parents place in Glasgow , and pretty resonable price wise .so made things easier all round . Sheila, i just finished a dinkum tucker with heeps of deep fried wombat washed down with a slab of VB tinnies now i,m off to the dunny to re cork my ocker hat ooroo possom.
  12. no worries Sheila .
  13. Thanks Joe , 200 miles ish is good and should be plenty for the routes i,m planning . Rick, will do ,altho i expect it to chuck it down with rain ............ as usual. so lots of soggy pics heh heh .
  14. long story boring ,the wife and i have rented a GW GL1500 Aspencade for 10 days, for our trip back to Scotland . so i'd like to know from some of you Wingers, about the range of these bikes, on a full tank of gas (petrol). the owner says its a small tank but it gets around 250 miles . now im thinking thats pretty good but i'd like to know if thats about right .we're gonna be traveling in mostly rural areas(single track roads mainly) ,down to Yorkshire then back up to the Western Isles ,Skye and Lewis . so in the grand scheme of things that aint that many miles, but if youve ever seen some of these areas ,theres a lot of scenery(and rain) but not much else.not good places to run out of gas(petrol) .so any and all info etc would be appreciated.
  15. Rick if you pm Rick Butler,he will send you the instructions on how to do your seat . i just got mine back from Rick B last weekend ,but havent tried it out as yet. looks like everyone who had their seat done by him are very happy.hes a great guy to deal with .
