Problem removing lower fairing

Can you get something behind it like a screwdriver to pry on it a bit while turning it...sounds like the threads aren't catching on the clip ?? Keith -
Problem removing lower fairing
KeithR replied to Yamaman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If I remember correctly you only have to remove the ones on the outer edge of the back and the 2 on the front. See drawing Keith -
I usually spray down the bug stuff with Bugs Be Gone and around the engine with Scrubbing Bubbles (yep the bath tub stuff w/o bleach, I it saw mentioned somewhere) and then wash with Turtle Wax Ice. Then a final polish with Plexus. I avoid putting any sort of wax/polish on any parts that get hot......maybe just my thinking but if its on there and with heat it will burn off and maybe discolor? From what I have been reading all magnetic plugs are not created equal......I can speak for the ones from www.magneticdrainplug.com but I don't know about the rest. The one I have you can pick up a 3/8" ratchet with it. The Stock Yamaha one in the diff wouldn't stick to anything! Keith
-
I just wanted to let you know if you decide to go with the magnetic oil drain plug the one in the diff is the same size. I just changed my oils and the stock magnetic plug in the diff is no more magnetic then.......... I guess i will order another one for the diff ! Keith

I put in a couple of sets of the Pioneer's and they made a big difference. In the front I put a set of speaker baffles and that made a big difference to the sound. I have a pair of bass blockers but I havn't installed them yet....winter project. Well I went and busted my 0-30PSi air pump and have since bought a 0-60PSi to replace it. I guess I pushed the 0-30PSi a little to far! Has anyone ever seen replacement gauges for those pumps anywhere? I contacted Progressive and they said that they do not supply parts. The Gauge has a weird thread on it so its possible that its made just to fit that pump....hard to say. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Keith

Turn your handle bars all the way to the right...see pic. (On a Venture that is.) Keith

I have a similar one that i bought on E Bay last year. I used it once and it worked fine with earbuds. I was wearing my half helmet and found there was just too much wind noise as well. It would be better with a 3/4 or full face helmet I would think. I installed a magnetic plug this spring and after 7500kms when I changed the oil there was a bit of crap on it....nothing that I would get alarmed about. There is a magnetic plug on the rear diff . Keith This is where I bought mine http://www.magneticdrainplug.com .....crush washers are alot cheaper than the dealer.....my dealer didn't know what I was talking about when I asked for new crush washers......said they never replace them.....scarey!

When I traveled across the gulf this summer (7hr ferry ride ) we had to tie our bikes down for the ride. First we got straps or rope in a loop approx 12"-14" long and put them around my rear trunk supports and made a choker, then attached ratchet straps. On the front I locked my steering as well as the front brake with electrical tape. Then attached one to the upper handle bar and one to the passing light support.....not a good idea, on the return trip I attached that one to the fork. And then attached ratchet straps. I also stood on the left side floor board while someone else tightened the closest strap. Bike never moved at all. Couple of pic's Good Luck Keith

I have used Turtle Wax Ice Clay Bar but not to remove paint over spray. This is info from their site Good Luck Keith Product Benefits Easily removes minor scratches, swirls marks, tree sap, paint overspray and embedded dirt and stains that ordinary detailing clays leave behind. Creates smooth as glass finish on all paintwork, fiberglass and metal surfaces. Does not contain harsh abrasives that can scratch or scuff your finish.
