when i smacked the end of the diff. and it went in and both flanges met up i assumed the shaft had seated properly. i guess i don't understand how it could seemingly all go back together and the shaft not be engaged?? is it possible that the shaft moved (opposite direction) further into the diff.?? i don't mind taking it all apart again - i only hope i didn't mess something up :-( " do you mean the tranny won't go into gear or you can put it in gear but it won't move? " when i said it won't go into any gear i meant you cannot get the trans to shift into a gear (any gear)

i have an 07 rstd - had to replc. rear tire so i did all the normal rear wheel maint. - swapped inner/outer rear pads - pulled hub off and greased pins - greased outer diff. gears and matching wheel diff. gears - pull diff. out (from bike only - not from rear itself) greased the splines - drain diff. and replaced gear oil. reassembled all parts - put it on the ground, cranked it and tried putting into 1st - it wouldn't go, actually won't go into any gear. also when you roll the bike it creaks (diff.?). the only part of this job that caused a little trouble was putting the drive shaft back into the bike, once i got it line up i had to give the back of diff. a good smack with the palm of my hand to get it seated - the four flange acorn nuts were hand tightened (these were the last nuts to be tightened in reassembly) and everything seemed normal. hopefully i did not screw something up too badly...any ideas/suggestions or anyone else ever run into this problem??........HELP !!

Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing
naturbar replied to tsigwing's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
hoppe does indeed make one for our bike. it is not quick release - you actually remove the quick release hardware on the bike and solid mount their fairing into the threaded holes where the quick disconnect hardware used to be. below is a pic of my 07 w/ hoppe... http://i48.tinypic.com/2j5x7gm.jpg- 12 replies

if you pay attention to the dash cam clock you will notice that from the time the cop lit up the bikes to the time the bike stopped was only 17 seconds (not a long chase in my opinion) - from the time they stopped until the biker was shot was 9 seconds. you will notice that as the cop just pulled up to the stopped biker, he (biker) was already looking over his right shoulder, he then turned his head back forward then back over his right shoulder again and was then shot.

thanks for the input gentlemen - seems i may have been running too low air pressures in my tires - im going tostart running 46-48 in rear and 42 in front. one question (i used the search function w/ no luck) about the tire build date - i see a 4309 inside an oval on the sidewall - would that be apr. 09 build?

i noticed after my last ride the rear tire was at the point of needing replacing. i've been running the Avon Venon X and really am satisfied with it. i got 8500 miles on the rear and 95% of my riding is two up (07 RSTD). is that in line with what others who run the Avon are getting out of their rear tire? i run 42lbs in it. my front tire looks to be in very good condition and was wondering what others are getting out of their front Avons? btw i ordered a new rear Avon from SW Moto on 5-9 and the new tire arrived today-this is my second time dealing with them and they are fast.

the wife and i were taking a nice leisurely ride on a familiar road - make a left at the intersection - got a decent lean going and the front tire moves out from underneath me about 3-4 inches - i then realize new tar snakes - and about that time it slides again - very unnerving feeling to loose the front tire - wife said she thought we had a flat. i know i've recently seen other threads concerning these snakes - they work well for the DOT but wreak havoc on us bikers.....

that is with baffles in....you get to pick your choice of baffles when you order your pipes. they are really loud with baffles out and after a while on the road your hears start to hurt.

look two posts up from your post and see my you tube (black RSTD) these are wild pig pipes. buz

i have these pipes and have recommended them to several others on this site. you pick the baffle you want for the loudness you desire or run them w/o baffles (takes 3 minutes to install/remove) if you speak with them tell them Buz sent you to them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WILD-PIG-PIPES-SLIP-ON-MUFFLERS-FOR-HARLEY-DRESSERS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414df58311QQitemZ280480809745QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
