  1. very observant JackZ, i had two surgeries on April fools day, one was the carpal tunnel and the other was radial nerve reconstruction (looking to get the feeling back in my left hand) - so i'll be off the bike for a short while. congrats on your two new knees.....
  2. yes these mufflers require the same bracket as the RK, also need the chromed gap cap or remove heat shields off your stock mufflers and reuse them (the cap is much easier) - however w/RK's you have to punch them out/ drill them out etc. to get the sound you want. these mufflers comes with various baffles (one bolts holds each one in place) to accommodate the sound you want - they also come in backslash, forward slash, sideslash or straight cut. buz
  3. got them off ebay and they are a great bunch to work with - if you are interested tell them Buz send you. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WILD-PIG-PIPES-SLIP-ON-MUFFLERS-FOR-HARLEY-DRESSERS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414df58311QQitemZ280480809745QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  4. take an ohm meter and check your 'red' fog light wire to see if it is shorted to ground. if it is you must track down where it is pinched and fix that before proceeding. good luck. btw i recently installed the yamaha passing lamps and used the relay and it's not as hard as you might think. here is a link that i used , i pretty much used Dave 77459 pics to help with the relay wiring. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38307&highlight=passing+lamps+part
  5. i'm having 6 bracket made and 3 are spoken for....anyone interested they are $225.00 and you pay shipping. they are glossy black powder coated.
  6. installed mine about 6 months ago and absolutely love it. http://i48.tinypic.com/2j5x7gm.jpg
  7. here is a youtube of my 07 RSTD with Wild Pig Pipes.. [nomedia=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmsITWhIMyM]YouTube- MVI_1041.avi[/nomedia]
  8. there has been some renewed interest in my detachable tour pack bracket and i am in process of having six made (three already sold). they are glossy black powder coated with mounting hardware. price is $225.00 and you pay shipping. i will have three left, so if you are interested give me a shout. buz http://i42.tinypic.com/1hcpk0.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/5n55pu.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/rw6fqw.jpg
  9. is it me ...or are your blockers mounted incorrectly ? looks like the parts sticking up to block the wind is actually the part that goes under the cowling ??
  10. lol.....you don't see a problem......but..........
  11. Lone Eagle pretty much expressed what i was thinking. i know that the exhaust is already hot and that in itself creates some liability. just imagine some lady walking past with a long shirt just as the bike is started.....and her skirt get caught up in the spinning barrels....i guess you can picture the results. seems like our society wants to sue someone for virtually anything/everything, looking for a quick payday....just sayin'.......
  12. ken, sorry for your mishap but i agree that God watches/protects us. glad your injuries were limited. hopefully someone here will provide the one stop in your area. hoping the best for your recovery and ride. buz
  13. tried to post and i got a 'lost security token' but logged off/on and was able to proceed. no panic here as i am glad that Don is looking after our treasured site...thanks Don.
  14. being the litigious society we live in....i would be afraid of the liability......not to mention a picking up a stray piece of wire and beating your bike to shreds. they do look kinda neat tho, just not my cup of tea ...best of luck w/ them.
  15. B......U.......T.......US
  16. i've got no dog in this fight....but that is why they are called accidents...otherwise they are on purpose....i doubt this guy drove his car into those boulders on purpose....surely he was distracted by the flashing cop lights but rubbernecking is responsible for alot of mishaps.
  17. i put these pipes on about one year ago and i am extremely pleased with the sound. removable baffles come w/ the mufflers (take 5 minutes to put on/take off). you pick the baffle you like from mild to wild and if you really want loud just pull out the baffles....guaranteed to turn alot of heads. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WILD-PIG-PIPES-SLIP-ON-MUFFLERS-FOR-HARLEY-DRESSERS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414df58311QQitemZ280480809745QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories http://i44.tinypic.com/20ihwcp.jpg
  18. i used pennzoil 10w-30 and a Wix oil filter. i'll use motorcycle 20w-50 or Shell rotella - t 15w-40 on my next go 'round. reading the posts concerning oil usage makes my head spin. you have one guy who says he uses oil conserving oil in all his motorcyles, lawn mower, vehicle etc. the next guy says oil conserving oil will ruin the clutch - seems like there has been successw ith most all types of oils.....hhhhmmmmmm !
  19. i want to thank all that responded....where else could a guy go for $12 and get the plethora of knowledge contained on this site...thanks to Don for hosting it and all that participate !! got my third oil change and filter under my belt....now to go over the routine maintenance checklist in the manual and i'm ready to roll tomorrow...sunny and low/mid 70's in afternoon....you know i'll be enjoying it !!
  20. massey130 - thanks for the info. my hand book call for 10w-30 or 20w-40 oil.
  21. i know i've reads post here about which (after market) oil to use (07 RSTD) and filter. i used the search function but didn't have much luck. i want to change oil/filter tomorrow...any suggestions, and thanks. buz
  22. i believe your bike came with the 'extended front tire expectancy' option ! maybe someone who has a real answer will pipe up :-)
  23. nothing wrong with riding a dirty bike. but for me, cleaning my bike is kinda therapeutic plus the value added feature of taking a close look at all the parts that can cause problems.
  24. good catch....lol :-)
  25. .......and the KISS award goes to this solution !! when you start adding unnecessary components to the equation you are adding more potential problems down the road. the cost to your solution would probably run around $.50 and the time to install about 30 minutes. Dingy - just to set the record straight i believe you misread my second post - i stated a DPDT "switch" not relay. no harm , no foul. i'll be waiting to hear cougars success story!
