  1. Back when the first gens were being built, Markland made a lot of accessories for the Venture. Those look like the highway boards that I've seen that were made by Markland for the first gen. I think they are still around but make mostly Goldwing accessories now. I don't know if they make anything like that any longer.
  2. Now Larry..."normal" might be a bit of a stretch. How can she be married to the Squid Man and still be "normal". At any rate, glad to hear that she will be back to ... uh.... her usual self.
  3. About the only way would be to replace the straight bars and not grind them down quiet as much. Would be easy to do though.
  4. It was GREAT. You've set the bar pretty high if you plan to do better than that one. We are glad you have joined us.
  5. That is pretty much it. Here is a thread that might help some. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=503
  6. Since I am no longer making the centerstands for the RSV, there have been some requests for the measurements of the bracket. Here is one that I quickly through together to get the measurements from. Not that the large holes on the U bracket and the straight bar are 16 mm. The ground out part at the bottom of the bar is so that the stand breaks over the proper amount. This varies per stand. I always put them together and then grind it out until the stand breaks JUST over verticle. Too much and it is hard to get the bike off the stand.
  7. Take a look at this thread. Brand may be different but installation should be the same. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8810 Be sure to note that from my personal experience, ground and negative are NOT the same thing on these tachs. Make sure that you hook ground to a ground and negative to the negative side of the coil.
  8. I posted this reply to your request in the welcome thread. Hope it helps. Go to this link and download the service manual. Section 3 page 2 has the maintenance schedule. It is a bit aggressive though and most of us don't follow it 100%. Change the oil on a regular basis and you are pretty much good to go. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1828
  9. I've briefly owned an '83 standard and I had an '88 White Royale. If I were ever to buy another first gen, I would be looking for another white '88. That was my favorite first gen.
  10. There are a couple of Bluetooth options out there right now but every test I've read on them has pretty much been the same....not yet ready for prime time and WAY too expensive at this time. Another thing that bothers me as that most "real world" tests have shown that battery life can be as little as 4 hours. That is nowhere near enough for most of us who really ride. I've spent many 12 hour days in the saddle. Here is one link to get you started. http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=30
  11. Don't worry...after I win it, I'll sell it to you cheap.

  13. Was it this one? http://www.ftwo.com/
  14. I've had Progressive for over 10 years and the price for me has been good. I've never filed a claim though so can't attest to their service.
  15. Here is one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GL1800-GL1500-GL1200-Headset-Adapter-Yamaha-Venture_W0QQitemZ140197607219QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140197607219
  16. Looks fine to me but it's the first I've heard or seen of them so I can't comment on the quality. For the price, it sure looks like it would be worth a try. I assume that you seat DOES have the hole for the backrest to slide into? Some of the early Corbin seats for the RSV did not have the hole.
  17. That is just nuts. I would no doubt change my own before paying that.
  18. Palimini from WI rides a 2000 RSV MM. Welcome and thank you for being our 4000th member.
  19. I understand that there is some skiing close by but we don't ski so I really don't know. It's hilly.....not flat but not mountains either.
  20. That is hight though. I don't use our local Yamaha shop but the Honda shop will mount my tires for $20.00 each if I take the wheels in. If I were to buy the tire there, mounting and balancing is free.
  21. Heck Brad....a little Plastex, some wax, duct tape..... OK...it's a mess. Glad you and Lonna are OK.
  22. I agree....congrats to both of you. Sounds like she may be getting an opportunity to go to college early. That will probably be a tough decision for you. At least it would be for me. My son is 16 and has the opportunity to graduate early and I honestly don't think I want him too. It may be great for some folks but not for everybody. I think I would rather him stay home, stay in high school and continue maturing before going off to college. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be the right decision for your personal situation and wish you and her the very best.
  23. My wife would trade our house for that one in a heartbeat if she could do it without moving. She loves Victorian and we had a reproduction Victorian when we lived in Texas. It was our favorite house. What she misses most is the upstairs porch/balcony on the back of the house. That's where we usually had our morning coffee.
  24. All the sleds are owned by the company and free to use while we are there. They are actually in pretty nice shape. They have several of the little sno scoots for the kids and about 8 Polaris 340s for the adults. They have miles of trails on the company property. I show very few of them in the pictures. There are also a lot of public trails nearby as well as the lake. We aren't allowed to take the company sleds off company property however. You can take your own if you have them. I don't though, sold ours a couple of years ago.
  25. Heck Buddy...you CAN post and get responses HERE. That's why I copied it to here.
