I hate to state the obvious but have you changed the oil recently? Dirty oil can indeed cause hard shifting. I'm sure you keep it pretty clean but just thought I would mention it.

I agree with the Mic Mutes. I've had mine for several years now and they are great. I haven't seen the quiet mic.

I agree. Since hers is working, it is likely either some dirty contacts on the switch or the connectors inside the fairing need to be unplugged, dabbed with some di-electric grease and plugged back in. Not likely anything serious. On a 2007 though, if you have a good dealer that can get it in and out in a hurry, I would let him worry about it. It should be a warranty item.

Name of Restaurant Good Asian Buffet Street Address 6999 Miller Lane City Dayton State or Province OH Website (Optional) - Quality of Food Great Quality of Service Great Biker Friendly? Yes Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) Chinese Alcohol Served? No Additional Comments OK folks, I'm not a huge fan of Chinese buffets and in fact, I only eat Chinese food maybe 3 or 4 times a year but this place is the exception. I stay in Dayton a couple of times a year and because this place is almost right next door to my usual hotel there, I decided to try it a year or so ago. Since that first time, I always eat here at least once when in that area. Huge buffet and they are busy enough that the food is always fresh. Great selection of food from the traditional Chinese selections to crab legs, fried frog legs, several type of fish, bbq ribs, several kinds of shrimp and etc. Not only is the selection great and the food good and fresh but the price is pretty darn reasonable. I don't remember exactly but the dinner buffet is somewhere around $10.00. It's worth trying if you are in the Dayton area. Miller lane runs parallel to Interstate 75 just south of the 70/75 interchange.

That really does look good. Don't go to far though...if I see curb feelers on that thing we are going to organize an intervention.

I have a speedohealer on my RSV that allows me to calibrate it. BUT...if you are off that far, you are WAY outside of the normal error range and there is something mechanical that needs to be repaired.

Very nice. I'm sure you'll get many years of pleasure from it.

I bought a spare set of the fins off Ebay a while back. Am planning to try my hand at diamond cutting them but haven't found the time or energy yet. Maybe one of these days.
-
You are lucky. Though the first gens may be closer. I've never seen a RSV that wasn't off.

I've answered both of your emails but am not getting responses back so I don't know if you got my answers or not. You say that you are getting a security token error. That happens when your pictures are way too large. You need to re-size them to no more than 640 x 480 and maximum 200,000 bytes.

Yea right...like mirrors aren't so OLD SCHOOL.

Congrats...you know what they say...The second happiest time in a man's life is when he gets married...the first happiest is when he gets divorced... NO WAIT...I think that is a boat that I'm thinking of...not a lady. hmmm........... Now I remember the one about marriages: "Three times is the charm"... NO WAIT... That was just me. hmmmm......... Well anyway, congrats...I'll have to get back to you on this stuff.

Interesting concept and I think a pretty good idea but at what looks like about $385.00 in US Dollars, I think I'll pass. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/reevu/msx1/

OK folks, I had plenty of time so had held off on placing the orders but will be doing so on Tuesday. I was just giving it a bit more time just in case anybody else decided to join in on the shirts. So, you still have another day if you have decided that you want shirts. See the first post of this thread for details. And...and I MEAN it this time...this is it...the FINAL call...I mean the LAST final call.

I got lucky a couple or three years ago and picked up a new set of TD mufflers off Ebay for $50.00. I know that Rick Butler also put the tips on his Venture mufflers though and I think did it the same way that Ahoutzer did. I think he said though that he used a punch to make the holes. He then used the tap and that way had the full depth of the punched metal to tap.

I use that security key also. It's a pain sometimes but sure helps to better secure your account. PayPal also helped me once. I have purchased a whole house generator for $2400.00 or so. Turns out that the seller didn't have one. He claimed they were on back order even though the auction said "in stock". Long story short, it was going to be at least 2 months before he could ship. I canceled and requested a refund. He wanted to charge me a very high "re-stocking fee". hmmmm....for a product he didn't HAVE? Anyway, I got PayPal involved and within 24 hours I had a full refund. I would much rather deal with buyers who accept PayPal and I would rather they pay with PayPal when I am selling.

Questions about my 83 -
Freebird replied to Godlover's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You can buy a battery with the hole in it for the sensor or you can go with a newer technology type battery and use this method to bypass it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=489 -

Questions about my 83 -
Freebird replied to Godlover's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The wire you are talking about is the battery level indicator. It does not measure the voltage, only the acid level in the cell. If you have a red battery warning light, it is telling you that the acid level is low. That battery might charge but if it's only reading 7 volts, it may well be shot. Doesn't hurt to try though. -
I guess the old adage is true... Beauty is in the eyes of the beerholder...er...I mean beholder.

For any of you who are worried about the hitch strength, mounting points, etc. There is an alternative. The hitches that most of us here use simple replace the bar between the saddle bags. I think it is more than sufficient for most of us. If you are pulling a heavier trailer though and think that something stronger is needed, there is the HitchDoc hitch. It mounts completely differently and I think is a much stronger design. I think it is overkill for what most of us need and is more difficult to install but maybe a better choice for some with very heavy trailers.

Leveling Links - Raising the Rear of the RSV
Freebird replied to Freebird's topic in Suspension, Tires, Handlebars, Etc.
I received the following note from one of our members regarding the Carbon_One lift adapter. Just a little heads up for those of you who might run into a problem with it. The lift adapter is almost a must have item for our bikes but this may be one case where you won't use it. "Today I installed leveling links and ran into trouble by using the Carbon One adapter. With the adapter I was unable to get one of the bolts out of the way. I had to lower the bike - remove the adapter, jack it up again, and then it was easy."- 2 replies

I got an email from him right before he left. He said that his internet provider would be changing and that his old email would be no good. He'll get the new one setup ASAP. I hope all is going well for them.
