I shut down the Harley site long ago. I initially tried it after my brother bought a new Harley and then a couple of other friends also ended up with new Harleys. I found though that I just didn't have the time and energy to run and promote two sites. I think it's just hard to do so if you don't own a particular bike. No, I have no intention of starting another site. I also don't want to try and be all things to all people, I just don't think it works. On the other hand, as more of our members switch to Goldwings, I don't want them to feel left out either. While this site is dedicated to the Venture and Royal Stars, it has become as much about the friendships as it is about the bikes. So, yes, I am trying to get a feel as to whether or not I should add an area for our beloved Wingnuts.

Yea....reminder to self...do NOT let anybody borrow phone.

Just curious. I know that a few of you have gone over the the Goldwing side. Just curious how many we actually have now?

While there is no doubt that we ALL miss the muffinman, I can't even imagine how much Riderduke must miss him. WOW....what a time of trial in his life trying to watch after and keep up with that mini muffin. I can't even imagine what this must have been like for you. Hurry home Jeff. The Duke is a good man but even good men have their breaking points.

Carb-Sync -Clarification
Freebird replied to 2Flights's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Sling is correct of course. The ONLY screw that you have to reach though with a long screwdriver is on the left side. You reach it from the right side with a long screwdriver. The same is NOT true for the right side.- 5 replies

Unless they have recently corrected it, the procedure outlined in the manual is incorrect. Review the writeup here and see if you still have any questions. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258- 5 replies

That looks like a good enough price for the tool. I just ordered one. Never hurts to have such things handy.
-
Yes you can. No problem at all.

Thanks for the update Lewis. I know that this must be very hard on her and also on you. Hopefully though, the end results will be well worth it and you will have a new woman there that you MAY have a hard time keeping up with. Please make sure that she knows she is in our prayers.

This is one of those areas where my test results are just different than Gooses. Before changing to the VMAX rear, I tested this a couple of times by running full tanks of gas on the Interstate in 5th gear and in 4th gear. I got no appreciable difference in gas mileage between the two. Riding two up, pulling a trailer and especially in heavy wind, I've actually gotten better mileage with the VMAX rear and find it to be in a much better power range.

I found them a bit hard to communicate with when I was trying to put together a group buy for the bags with our logo. I think they make some good stuff but I got frustrated trying to communicate with them and finally just gave up on the plan.

Folks, I'm sorry but I really didn't realize that so many of you were having problems getting your stuff from him. I will try to contact him but it sounds like maybe I do need to remove him from our vendors area.

"Thanks" Has Stopped Working
Freebird replied to Aussie Annie's topic in Computer help and tips for using this site.
Annie, I actually thought you were kidding but apparently you are serious. I just logged in under your account though and your thanks button is still there. Are you SURE you are looking in the right place? Plus, it doesn't show up on your own posts as you are not allowed to thank yourself. It is there though.- 14 replies

Folks...they don't require any stretching. The problem is not that they need to be stretched. They are plenty big. You spread them over the lids and use something similar to door edge trim to secure them to the edge. The only difficult part is getting the trim over the leather and the edge of the lids to secure it while keeping the leather smooth and working around the corners.

Lowering the front?
Freebird replied to WP50's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Yes you can. A lot of people here have lowered the front and not lowered the rear. You will probably find that it actually handles a lot better when you raise the rear back up and leave the front lowered. -
I made that mistake also. The shaft will slide all the way in right BESIDE the U-joint instead of in it. Dropped mine into gear and it made an awful noise. I knew immediately what I had done and was very careful after that.

I'm thinking the beads would work very well. Remember, they have a hole in them for passing the thread through to string them up. The holes in the restrictors on mine are tiny. The beads would probably work great.

I've installed the lid covers. Yes, you have to remove the bags. Remove the locking hardware and then have fun. They are truly a PAIN to install but it works OK when you finally get all done. Be very careful because you being a man of god, there are likely some words that you will want to use that are not appropriate.

Thanks folks. Just got home about an hour ago. All the tests went OK as far as I know. Tumor shows to be receding in size and they say that as long as it's getting smaller, then it is contained and not spreading also. So, the news is good for now. Back again in another 6 months. Sure does get old but I suppose it is necessary.
