  1. I don't believe a word she said. Then she tried to use the "ohhh....my eye hurts" just to make sure that I don't try to get even with her for the past transgressions. The all that "can't be responsible for others" talk. Sounds like the small legalese print that you find on everything now days.
  2. No, unless you install a Mic-Mutes, the mic is always hot for the intercom. You would only use the push to talk button when using the CB. That being said, I highly recommend the Mic-Mutes as it eliminates all the wind noise that can be caused by the mics being hot all the time. If you install the Mic-Mutes, you simply momentarily pulse the push to talk button, front or rear, to activate the mic. You pulse it again to turn them back off.
  3. Heck...I think we are ALL Wingnuts. Also, we don't care what anybody rides, all are welcome here. I'm just thinking that for a certain model bike that enough members here have, maybe there should be a forum here for them. In other words, I don't want to create a separate forum for any bike that a single member here rides but maybe for any bike that "X" number of members here are riding.
  4. The 0's are numeral 0's, not letter 0's. Here is how yours came up. 1989 YAMAHA XVZ13D VIN: JYA1NLE0XKA028509 World region: Asia Manufactured in: Japan Year: 1989 Make: Yamaha Model: XVZ13D Body style: Road / Street Drive type: RWD Cylinders: 4 Cylinders
  5. No problem at all. I don't mind such questions in the least. If you want to have private political discussions, that is your business. The only time I would get involved in ANY PM argument would be if one of the members involved in such an argument were to report to me that there were threats or whatever. I would not know about it unless one or both parties contacted me.

Drats...I forgot about Eileen and the lawnmower....you are right...I better nix this idea.

    Wall of Death

Yea, Eileen was watching the LAST time I tried a dumb motorcycle stunt. A concussion and a few cracked ribs later, she was VERY impressed.
  8. PMs are private. Would it be POSSIBLE for me to check them? Yes. They are stored in the database until they are read and deleted but I do NOT read them and do NOT get copies of them. Now here is the thing though. If somebody sends a PM, the user gets an email notification of that PM. That email clearly states "Do Not Reply". You can only reply to a PM by logging in here and replying to the PM from your Inbox here at the forum. A lot of people forget that you can't reply to a PM via email and will try to reply to that email. When that happens, the reply is sent to me so I end up seeing it. I try to respond with a quick message reminding the member that they cannot reply to a PM via email. So, unless a member messes up and tries to reply with email, they are not read by myself or the moderators.
  9. HEY...not only did I lose interest in the Harley site but then I tried to sell it just for what I had invested in the software and etc. but found no takers. I then offered to GIVE it to any of the few members that might want to take it over...still no takers. I finally just pulled the plug.
  10. Lot of cafe racers but some others mixed in also. http://www.pipeburn.com/

    Wall of Death

Maybe I should build one of these for Maintenance Day. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31MMw3Eazqw&feature=player_embedded#]YouTube- Wall of Death[/ame]!
  12. Now that is FUNNY. Not TRUE I don't think by any means but still funny. By the way, I've always wanted a springer softail. I think it's one of the best looking bikes on the road.
  13. I shut down the Harley site long ago. I initially tried it after my brother bought a new Harley and then a couple of other friends also ended up with new Harleys. I found though that I just didn't have the time and energy to run and promote two sites. I think it's just hard to do so if you don't own a particular bike. No, I have no intention of starting another site. I also don't want to try and be all things to all people, I just don't think it works. On the other hand, as more of our members switch to Goldwings, I don't want them to feel left out either. While this site is dedicated to the Venture and Royal Stars, it has become as much about the friendships as it is about the bikes. So, yes, I am trying to get a feel as to whether or not I should add an area for our beloved Wingnuts.
  14. Yea....reminder to self...do NOT let anybody borrow phone.
  15. Just curious. I know that a few of you have gone over the the Goldwing side. Just curious how many we actually have now?
  16. While there is no doubt that we ALL miss the muffinman, I can't even imagine how much Riderduke must miss him. WOW....what a time of trial in his life trying to watch after and keep up with that mini muffin. I can't even imagine what this must have been like for you. Hurry home Jeff. The Duke is a good man but even good men have their breaking points.
  17. I'll just say this. If you don't want it, let me know and I'll figure out a way to buy it. That's a bargain.
  18. Sling is correct of course. The ONLY screw that you have to reach though with a long screwdriver is on the left side. You reach it from the right side with a long screwdriver. The same is NOT true for the right side.
  19. Unless they have recently corrected it, the procedure outlined in the manual is incorrect. Review the writeup here and see if you still have any questions. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258
  20. Yes, that should pretty much be the same effect. I think you will find that it will handle better too.
  21. Yes, Carl at Thunder Valley is a member here and offers us a discount. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43412
  22. That looks like a good enough price for the tool. I just ordered one. Never hurts to have such things handy.
  23. Yes you can. No problem at all.
  24. Thanks for the update Lewis. I know that this must be very hard on her and also on you. Hopefully though, the end results will be well worth it and you will have a new woman there that you MAY have a hard time keeping up with. Please make sure that she knows she is in our prayers.
  25. This is one of those areas where my test results are just different than Gooses. Before changing to the VMAX rear, I tested this a couple of times by running full tanks of gas on the Interstate in 5th gear and in 4th gear. I got no appreciable difference in gas mileage between the two. Riding two up, pulling a trailer and especially in heavy wind, I've actually gotten better mileage with the VMAX rear and find it to be in a much better power range.
